Is anyone else craving salad? Think I might make a start with some seeds on the kitchen windowsill :)

Thought this was just me! I bought a bag of leaves this week and was trying to serve it with everything. DH thought I was quite mad. :rotfl:

Here's up until the end of next week... with some slight modifications due to an unexpected takeaway tonight. :o

    Friday 14th: [STRIKE]Lasagne and Chips[/STRIKE] Takeaway
Saturday 15th: [STRIKE]Kedgeree[/STRIKE] Lasagne and [STRIKE]chips[/STRIKE] salad (vegetarian)
Sunday 16th: Pork Chops w/ roast veg
    Monday 17th: [STRIKE]Pasta[/STRIKE] Kedgeree
Tuesday 18th: Chicken pie (made from last week's roast leftovers and frozen)
Wednesday 19th: Chilli con carne (vegetarian)
    Thursday 20th: Lentil soup (vegetarian)
    Friday 21st: Pizza and chips
Saturday 22nd: Chorizo and bean stew

Most of this is already in the freezer, all I need to buy is some more salad leaves and fresh veg.

Alright, here's my mealplan for the coming week. I'm a bit late in planning things this week as there's been lots going on. Anyway, here goes:

Saturday: Beef and Ale Pie with mash and veggies
Sunday: Pasta Bake (probably bacon, tomato and cheese)
Monday: Jambalaya (using bacon, tomatoes and sausages)
Tuesday: Toad in the Hole (using the rest of the sausages!)
    Wednesday: Not Sure Yet
    Thursday: Curry with Rice
Friday: Meatball Subs. This'll make loads of meatballs that I can freeze for another time. Better freezer management is one of my goals this year!
Saturday: Chilli con Carne with sauteed potatoes - yum
Sunday: Sweet Chilli Prawns with Noodles and stir-fried veg.

There'll be some cake to eat up for snacks, but lunches are sandwiches as usual. There's also fruit and in the week I'll make some cookies or something for the biscuit tin to make the most of the oven while the toad is in.

    Have a good week, everyone.

    KB xx

  • The meal planning is going well so far, pretty much stuck to it, just changed a couple of days round. This week:

    Sat - Macaroni Cheese
Sun - Pork steak, roast potatoes, veg and gravy
Mon - Omelette and HM bread
Tues - HM chicken nuggets, breaded mushrooms and potato wedges (might use cajun spice on these, yum!)
Wed - HM burgers, potato wedges and roast veg
    Thur - Chicken fajitas
    Fri - Quesadillas

Lunches for me will be soup and HM bread, for OH will be sandwiches. Breakfast will be HM yoghurt. Snacks/puddings will be HM jam tarts & lemon tarts which I am making today (might make a cake as well.) Shouldn't need to do any shopping apart from eggs which I will get from a friend who has chickens!

    Mine is Friday to Thursday

Friday - Potato, Onion and Bacon Hotpot with carrotts and peas
Saturday - Nut and Spinach Roast with Wild Mushroom sauce and roast winter root vegetables
Sunday - Roast Chicken, Carrotts, Cabbage, Peas, Roasties, Parsnip and Celeriac Bake, Bread Sauce and Gravy
Monday - Warm up from Sunday Roast
Tuesday - Spagetti Bolognese Bake and Garlic Bread
Wednesday - Squash and sweet Potato Soup with Blue Cheese Drizzle and warm crusty bread
Thursday - Roast Vegetable and Bacon Spaghetti with Ciabatta Bread and dipping oils

Both my husband and I are delighted that I can produce a menu like this for £69.00 total spend per week :Tusing fresh ingredients. It's taken a lot of practice since last May to get here but it's very doable and very rewarding.
  • Nut and spinach roast with wild mushroom sauce sounds yum monicaj, any chance you could share the recipe please?

already revising this week, not a good sign really!

Thursday - Carrot and Corriander soup (turned out lovely)
Friday - pasta and sauce from a jar (we both came back tipsy from separate nights out, so no proper cooking likely!)
Saturday - vege bolganese pasta bake (to be bulked out a bit with grated veg left in fridge and freezer)
Sunday - jacket pots with vege chili from freezer (pots baked in oven with pasta bake, then re-heated)
    Monday - leftover pasta bake
    Tuesday - leftover soup
Wednesday - maybe veg curry with rice, not sure yet but need to use jar of curry paste
