Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 13th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

    Morning!

Nobody has started the thread, or if they have I've missed it:D

Off to work soon. Just had a shower and am having a cuppa and a slice of toast before I get dressed.

After last nigts drama with DS we had a long talk to him about his future. I hope he's listened.
OS - decided to have a day off the laundry today:j:D house is clean and tidyish. Dinner is quorn cottage pie. Lunch for me is HM leek and potato soup at work - might have some ryvita with it. Diet back on track - 2lbs off last week:j feel so much better when I eat properly.

Bitsy - hope bed wars went well x

(((hugs))) to the many of you feeling poorly x

I'll catch up with you all later, have a great day x

  • Morning Taplady & all who cross/follow
Last day at work for me this week, I'm off to hospital tomorrow to get a prognosis on my eyes.
I managed another brake free drive to the station with hubby & no we don't drive along with him shouting 'Coming Through No Working Brakes'.
My brakes work fine, I have a worn brake pad, because of the age of my car there is a lot of rust on the brake rim & it makes a terrible noise if I brake hard, but is fine if I brake gently, so I am taking great care to read the road ahead & brake slowly, it's not that different from how I drive normally, no one is in danger from me, well no more than normal! I'm not using the car tomorrow & my DS is sorting out on Saturday.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, sausage sarnies, left over from sausage & mash for tea last night. My packup is ryvita & philly.
Breakfast has been eaten & fish fed.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hester - best of luck at the hospital - will be thinking of you.

OHs first day yesterday as Daddy daycare! Don't think he coped very well as he's now in bed with a migraine!!! Oh come on, its not that hard! Yes the boys have you pulling your hair out at times - but I'm sure all those with children who stay at home (men & women) will agree, its not THAT hard! Dinner last night was beef stew - and I found some parsnips that were going over in the fridge - so I made parsnip chips - which were yummy.

Tonight I think it will be chilli & rice. Mainly as I know its in the freezer and is relatively quick and easy. Think I need a week off to prepare for working full time on Monday - phew, how do people do it?

Better get off - dogs and children need me. x
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Hester - glad the brakes are just noisy. They grate and squeal when it's practically metal on metal. Good luck with hospital.
Taplady - well done on talking things through with your ds. I bail mine out although not so much on the last year or 2. He doesn't have the same grip on money as dd has.
Redruby - where did you get your sheets again? They sound great.
Rain here but the temp is 6 woop woop:j. The racing at Musselburgh should be on tomorrow.
Tea tonight is left over roast beef, gravy, mash and peas from the freezer. Have written a list of 12 meals we can have from there and store cupboard and although it's really just the freezer i want to clear. A few more mystery packages in there - when will I learn to label things??
Had a facial at the local college last night. Was quite relaxing as it was one with essential oils. Very MSE using college students! The down side of course is that you are in a screened off section in a big room with lots of other folk getting their stuff done so lots of background chat but i found that quite soothing. Unfortunately though the products have irritated my skin a bit so next time I'll try their back massage. They do one with hot stones as well which I fancy trying. I find a massage or facial soooo relaxing. This was a real treat as i haven't had one since we moved over a year ago:).

Ok, off to tidy the kitchen as it looks like a disaster area as I didn't clear away dishes after tea last night.
Have a good day folks. (((hugs))) to those unwell, worried or sad.

It's my first day off today. Got to go and get my windscreen wiper fixed, it seems to have bent itself round the side of the windscreen! don't know how it happened all I did was turned them on!
Going to see what MS opportunities are around for me today then this afternoon taking LO to Tumble Tots. Can't remember what is on the list for tea tonight but think it involves the cheap beef mince (50p a large packet) that hubby got from work.
    Have a good day everyone!

    Good Morning All

Another wet and miserable day here, feels quite mild though :T

Off in a minute to take DD to school, she has a drama exam today and the timings don't work with her bus. On plus side there is a Costa coffee near her school so may (well definitely will) treat myself to a coffee :rotfl:

Other than that normal 2nd job and office work today.

Hester - we too are having sausage and mash for tea - if I don't get on tomorrow- good luck for the hospital.

Where does the time go, gotta shoot. x

Taplady- well done one the weight loss. I am on day 3, weigh in not until Monday but have been good so far :A
Redruby- the sheets sound great, mine haven't arrived yet
Hester- good luck with the hospital

Well car trouble chez Julie today. Hubby's car is still on the drive on ramps and he has been using DS2 car as he doesn't use his for work. Unfortunately DS2 has let the petrol get so low that it wouldn't start this morning (out in it last night), so a big row about who's fault it was and the upshot is OH has gone in my car:( what is it about boys and responsibility

So won't be having a trip to the charity shops as planned today. Probably for the best as it will be a nsd for me today. Will spend the day writing and need to wash DS3 PE kit as he did football yesterday and has just pulled it out of his school bag:eek:

Dinner today will be hm soup and tea will be chicken stirfry.

Have a good day peeps x
