  • The next twist in the Tax credit farce came today- the debt collection dept sent an absolute snotty letter confirming my payment arrangement for the debt we owe.

    Dear Mrs Bob

Tax Credit Overpayments- Total amount £

I am writing to confirm the payment plan agreed with you to pay the above amount in 35x installments

I will consider cancelling the arrangement if you:
1.Make a late payment or fail to make a payment
2.do not tell me immediately if there are any changes in your circumstances which affect your ability to pay an installment.

Do not take this payment plan as a precedent for settling future liabilities to HRMC.

To help us improve our customer service please quote our ref number and provide a daytime tel number in any correspondence. The irony! I will certainly help them improve customer service by them getting it right in the first place:mad:

Yours Sincerely debt management and banking- Essex branch! Although i deal with a local branch and the original letter came from Scotland.

    :mad::mad::mad:
I am really annoyed at the whole tone of this, as although it is probably standard 'let's frighten them into toeing the line' response, but it implies that i was at fault..they made the calculations after numerous phone calls and letters, all at our expense:eek:

And to cap it all they have the cheek to call themselves debt management and banking..as if their dept is above reproach..oh how measly i am in the face of such a caring institution...Not:cool:

Alledgedly they have been working hard to improve their letter writing, although obviously could do better. You could complain (but I have no idea who to!)

Have a look at www.taxcc.org It should make you feel better and may give you something to throw at your local MP. Whole system looks a mess.

Hi Butti, that is the site i have been using. I follow their protocol re order of letters and whatnot. :D

And yes, i agree their letter writing leaves much to be desired.:rotfl: Although it is just my reaction to it-TBH i haven't had the best of weeks and this has really annoyed me.

I know what you mean about the effect of something like that when you're already feeling not great, Bob - but tbh, letters like that, and phone calls to call centres, drive me absolutely crazy/raging, I absolutely hate them - I'm so sorry you're going through this, and that they're being such pains.

Thanks KC, i am glad that i am not the only one who feels like this. I feel really weird about the whole thing. I am perfectly happy to pay money i owe- hence the diaries and the head banging re Mr.B:o But i hate being ripped off by anyone especially when i have offered every scrap of info they asked for..i was especially annoyed with the Experian bit, the implications for the future and BIG BROTHER are really concerning.

Says me who writes on a diary on a public forum:cool::rotfl::rotfl:

I have resolved to lighten up for now not much point in worrying about it. Indeed i really don't know why i am, as regardless of the outcome i know i have done everything i can to sort it out. I was thankful for Tax credits at the time and so can't complain about what i have had. I know others are worse off than me and for them i 'have to believe' that a faulty system can be sorted.

I hope they confirm it as well- TBH i expect that i do owe something from last year, but i thought that it would be about £140 - well that is what last year's phone conversation was about and he said that it probably would be taken care of by the fact that we weren't paid anything..so to wait until the years end and confirm it all.:o As in when i had my P60.

I am nearly there personally, just have to get the joint stuff knocked on the head..which isn't mine, but my name is on it. Sometimes that tunnel is very long.

  • Well the finale of 'The Game of Thrones' is on tonight, apparently America are one day ahead of us :( I have read the first of the books though, which i have to say are amazing and the series is as *good* as the books- something i don't often say. :)

Monday is usually a bleurgh day, but today has been good-nice roast chicken for tea with salad potatoes and salad, i am looking forward to that. I also picked up an easyyo yoghurt maker for pennies, so i am looking forward to having a play with that one.

Gardening needs to be got on top of other than that all is going well for Monday :)
