It's a magnificent looking specimen. :T
I'm still quite a way from actual tomatoes. Lots of flowers coming through, but none even open yet.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Thanks MBE.. I don't think I'll tell non gardening friends ' I'm just off out to squeeze my gooseberries'
Somehow it sounds faintly dodgy !0 -

Let me know when yours are squeezy and I'll tye squeezing mine.
Have planted out my runner, french climbing and borlotti beans as well as my courgettes and the only 4 sweetcorn that grew. The runner bean wigwam looks like I was not very sober when I put it up.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order

A quick update from me...after a few weekends of terrible weather and being really busy my poor veg are showing the results of my neglect. I think I have a few tomato flowers (not sure what they should look like, even after googling them) despite starting them early and they look really healthy plants they don't seem to have done much since I moved them to the green house. Cucumbers are very disappointing and aren't really doing much at all-the leaves have gone quite yellow round the edges and feel like paper-is this texture normal? Chilis and peppers are still doing ok with a few fruits on a number of plants, but again, with how early I started them I guess I expected more by now.Carrots seem to be growing well, as do peas and mange tout. French beans don't seem to be going very good since moving them outside.Potatoe plants look massive but no sign of flowers yet, they're maris bard and should be harvested around the end of June. In all I think I need to be much better on planning things next year, which will be my second year, so this year is my trial run really. New garden and new to growing! I am also planning on putting raised beds in next year which I think might help some what. I will try to get some pics later, but will stick to the 2 pics per post rule MBE!0

Pics will be good. And I think for a trial run it sounds like you're doing ok.

Raised bed definately extend the growing season a bit. Potatoes mine (1st earlies) have only just got the first signs of flower buds on them so I won't panic yet I would make sure your plants get enough water and if they still don't pick up then feed them But not the carrots! Plants do tend to sulk a bit after being moved.:kisses3: Married 29th September 2012
