My Spuds are coming along well too, last couple of Year's I've planted mine around Easter time but I've noticed on a couple of Threads on this Site that some people have already planted their Earlies. We have a frost here again this morning and I'm just outside London so I'm going to hold off for a while yet.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

spuds can be planted upto 6 weeks before your last frost date provided you are ready to run out and earth up foliage if an unusual late frost threatens, unless of course, you live in an area where you could get a deep hard ground frost then I'd leave it to 2-4 weeks before last date.
But, as always with gardening, each year is different so you will need to make a decision based on your local weather and soil conditions. Very cold wet soil will cause them to rot.
visit this page first to set your frost dates

then this one to find out a planting guide time

I've already put a few of mine in the ground (I'm in London) but I did warn the ground first and they have a fleece over the top of them, the rest of mine will go in at the end of the month.

I have started off the following...- Three different types tomatoes
- Two different types peppers
- Chilli
- Radish
- Carrot
- Mange tout
- Pak choi
- Mini cucumbers
- Courgettes
- Butter nut squash
- Salad Leaves
- Chives
- Basil
- Coriander
- Spinach
And I even managed to plant out my strawberry runners
I had hoped to plant the rhubarb crown too.... but I need to find a space for it first... so I will do that another day now.0 -
Got some more Seeds sown yesterday but this Weather is not getting me motivated at all, been misty and damp this week but on a more positive note, I've checked Seeds I've sown indoors and it looks like Chillies and Peppers are starting to poke through at last.:j"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

You lot are making me feel very lazy.
I did take the opportunity to mow the lawn yesterday, for the first time this year.
The rhubarb's ready, I've taken some to a couple of blokes at work, and I'm making a great big pie this morning.
That's quite a lot of rhubarb, and even the thickest stalks are tender. The tops of some of the leaves are a bit black, but that's just where it hit the top of the bin.
I still haven't planted my chillies.Soon, honest.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Fab looking rhubarb, and you'd best get a move on with those chillies or you won't be getting any this year!0 -
That Rhubarb looks lovely, I've not forced mine so will have to be patient for a few more months. Have some in the Garden and also up at the Allotment so may think about Forcing next year.
Been in the Garden all morning, got a load more Seeds sown, some I'm keeping indoors as my Greenhouse is unheated and although we are just outside London we woke up to a heavy Frost this morning. Had a general tidy up on the Patio and in the beds, sown some Early peas direct into the ground. It's lovely out there, blue sky and sunshine - having a Mug of tea now and sorting through Seeds to see what still needs Sown.;)"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.
