Wow, I didn't know there were 50 ebay sites, if that's what platform means.
Listing where you don't have a shop can be very expensive in some countries.

No they listed my top 50 on 10 ebay platforms/sites
Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D

OK I see. I'd be very curious to see what they look like, any way you could share some info?
In particular I wonder how accurate they are.

So far I listed in 3 languages, one was a stretch, but I copied and pasted a lot from other listings. Gave up, having to research specialised terms, understand what keywords people would look for, too much work for the amount of sales. I stick with what I know well now.

Good luck, let us know what the response is like.

It is mainly the heading that has been changed and they seem ok. Not much of the advert has tho.
If I recoup the £200 it has just cost me then thats ok - if not will have to sell the wife on ebay.
Will let you know if I get any sales from it. I hate being the guinea:D pig

Mhhh hope you did not pay too much money, a part from the ebay fees, as I was expecting a bit more than just the headings...

Hope you don't start getting questions and queries in every single language you listed in :D

If it was German I'd get my son to do it as he works in Germany and speaks it fluently. But I do not understand how they can charge for translations to Australian and Irish.
Have had it out with them and they said it tells you what you would be paying.True it only shows the individual price and does not give a grand total. If it had done so I would not have gone ahead. My own fault realy for not understanding that each item would be charged the insertion fee that each country has.

If you list in the US or Australia you'd have to change some of the language.
    P&P, P&H, S&H
US use inches, AU use cm.
Each category will have specific keywords like pants/trousers.

I am the managing director of WebInterpret and just saw your post. I don't want to advertise but just share information on how to really benefit from the international market.

@Myyrrddyn I apologize if you had high ebay fees that you were not expecting.
In fact when you list from your ebay account on foreign ebay sites, ebay charge you full ebay fees. To avoid that you have to open shops on the foreign ebay sites of your choice, in order to have discount fees (we provide a wizard to do it easily). Testing foreign ebay sites from your actual ebay account allow among other to do a market analysis which will let you see in which country you have the best return on investment.

Posting on foreign ebay sites is not obvious. What you need to do:
-translate item title with good keywords. That's the most important part because foreign buyers are searching in their native language. To appear on the top of search results you need to optimize keywords for each country (most searched keywords per ebay site)
    - adapt categories. Categories vary dramatically from eBay site to eBay site, even within the english speaking sites
    - translate items specific. This is also critical because it is used in search results.
    - shipping cost adaptation. By default should be the shipping cost for the foreign country.
-currency conversion. Paypal charge a fee of 2.5% to convert currency, so you should add it to your price.

Beside that, you need to synchronize your stocks. If for instance you sell a unique item on another ebay site, you have to remove it from other ebay sites. Obviously if someone buy an item that you haven't got in stock anymore you risk a negative feedback.
Very few sellers are doing it manually because it take too much time or it would cost too much in wage. We are taking care of it for hundreds of sellers thanks to our platform and our professional translators trained especially to produce efficient listings.
About email in foreign language we provide also a tool that allow to answer to most questions through multilingual email templates.

If you have any question about how to increase your sales internationally do not hesitate to ask.

    Patrick Smarzynski

    Hello Patrick
thank you for the information. I agree with what you say, listing internationally needs a lot of research to be successful.

However I don't think opening a shop in a language you don't speak is a good idea, as all the maintenance will have to be done on the original site, in that language.

Is it correct that you only translate the title and not the actual description? It seems to me that it would be essential to have both.

Also I'm not clear about how you organise inventory. You are not supposed to list the same item more than once, it would be very unwise to do that, as you say the buyer would risk a neg.

I would add that each eBay site has a separate fees structure, that needs to be taken into account when pricing items. And PP fees change depending on the currency too.

PS as you are representing a company you need to ask permission from the admin before posting here, they will give you a special ID. At least you have identified yourself, not logged in as a new user, 0 posts, telling us how wonderful this company is :D

I am sorry Patrick, but I am still waiting for sales from this and for me to invest over £200 for something that was not explained properly. There should be sum that shows how much you are about to comit to. All it shows is per item. If it had sown a total sum of how much it was going to cost me I probably would not have gone through with it or tried a smaller amount of items to test it on. Ebay is therapy for me to help stimulate my brain after having a stroke. When I saw my bill from ebay I damn well near had another one.
As I said I will wait till the month trial period is up, but at present you are looking at unfair paractice to me and restricting pivitol information.
Plus what did you translate in the canada irelend and australia ebay sites?

Some sales are starting to filter through we will see by the end of the month if it covers the fees or not. So here is hoping and if it surpasses the fees I will continue using them, if not then it's arrivederci.
