Mobile phones + Ebay are a dangerous mix.

I would only take cash or Postal Orders.

I think if I had been the OP I would not have left positive feedback on receipt of payment, at least not whilst there is still a little concern about this buyer.

Looking at the buyer though it looks OK, registered in the UK, good feedback, a clear history although some of it a bit old so there has been a gap in purchases. There is no worrying purchase history as would be expected with a scammer.

It's a scam. That you're even thinking of sending, however or to wherever, leads me to think you shouldn't be selling high value items on ebay. All you have to do is search these boards for mobile phone scams and you wouldn't have even bothered to post.

You said in your listing - UK only. They want Kenya UH! UH!

Their registered paypal address is in the UK, they want Kenya UH! UH!

You will have NO, NOTHING, NADA protection sending it to a UK address if it isn't the registered paypal address.

To reiterate what's already been said. DO NOT SEND

Your bidder who placed the second chance offer is still interested, make him the offer, check he has a verified paypal address, send it Special Delivery to that same registered paypal address.

Watch out, mate. Swan will be onto you in a bit saying that you're not nice to the OP (in a sarcastic way). I agree with you

  • Best advice is do not sell ANYTHING!!! at all to AFRICA...

Just email back to ebay & said that you stated on your auction that UK winning bidder only - send an email to the buyer stating that you will not send to Africa & go for mutual withdraw. Refund the paypal now or else you will be loosing your phone as well as your money from paypal - PAYPAL is useless!!! it does not protect seller...

After that you can sell it to your 2nd chance winning bidder.

    Hi there
to clarify - the buyers address with Ebay is Nairobi however the address on Paypal is in the UK. The buyer wants it posted to the UK and has now been in touch with me to confirm the Paypal address. The buyer is non US verified on Paypal. The last person to sell to this buyer has also been back in touch with me and verified the address in the UK. The auction number is 220043743852. Thanks everybody for your help.

If it is an unconfirmed address on paypal you are not covered with sellers protection. Check in your paypal account it will tell you in the details of this payment whether you have sellers protection when sending to this address. I would NOT send a high value purchase to an unconfirmed address. Verified is separate from having a confirmed address.

But they want it delivered to Kenya. All in all, a definite no no.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo1 Do NOT refund anything. If you receive a paypal payment from them, ignore it. After a few days, paypal will withdraw it anyway, as it is a SCAM. If you refund, they're getting YOUR money instead of YOUR phone. Either way, they'll be quids in.

i'm confussed now.. if you refund the money back....how can they claim the money back off you.. as they allready had it back via refund....and paypal will see that they have allready been paid back......

sorry but am i missing something:confused:

Stage 1. Buyer pays you by paypal.
    Stage 2. You send phone.
Stage 3. Paypal tell you purchase was fraudulent, and take back the money.

This leaves you with no phone, and no money.

Stage 1. Buyer pays you by paypal.
    Stage 2. You refund money
Stage 3. Paypal tell you purchase was fraudulent, and take back the money.

This leaves you with the phone, and less the £150 you refunded them, and less the £150 chargeback taken back by paypal.

This leaves you with the phone, but down £150.

Why risk anything at all when you can just sit on their cash, sell your phone elsewhere, and wait to see what developes. Personally, speaking from someone who has an awful lot of money passing through paypal each month, I wouldn't trust paypal to do the right thing by a seller, ever, unless you've crossed every T and dotted every I, in triplicate, in front of a Justice of the Peace, and changed your name by deed poll, and emigrated to a country with no extradition agreement with the UK or the US.

Most of my transactions that go through paypal are under £32, and are for items I can afford to lose or to replace. If they're over £32, I often ask for extra funds to pay me to use a trackable online service, and in the case of sending abroad, ALWAYS to a verified address.
