Hi op, you have been given lots of advice, I hope you might find some are working for you.

I have four kids, aged between 10 months and 5 years. I found that if they were overtired, they were more likely to fuss if being left alone for a little while. At 3 months, I generally went by the rule of every 2 hours at most, baby needing to go for a nap. So say I was up at 7am, baby would be down for a nap by 9am. At 12 weeks i think a lot of babies tend to sleep for 30-45minutes at a time, so it generally worked out as baby having a morning, after lunch and afternoon nap before sleep at around 7pm. Perhaps your little one might just need a little more sleep?

I swaddled mine as well, using the brilliant miracle blanket from mother care. Baby does not need to be able to get arms out, but the swaddle should not come up over the shoulders, or there is a risk of overheating. At sleep times, I had a first years nature lullaby sounds that all four of mine loved, particularly the rainfall noise. I would swaddle them up, put the rain on and rock them till the eyes got sleepy, then down they went whilst still a little awake. Mine also slept in a blacked out room, the dark helps the brain release the chemicals we need to make us sleepy.

Another thing to consider is that around 12 weeks is a growth spurt time and babies are generally more unsettled when growth spurting, perhaps you will find Alexander will settle down of his own accord after a few more days.
