There are no rights the Police can stop you in a car at anytime for any reason.
Not true iirc. They have to have some reason, however superfluous, unless its a spot check where they're doing 1 in 10 cars or whatever.

    The police of today! Why?
    Dan

Methinks they have nothing better to do?

I've been pulled on numerous occasions, but they've never had reason to stop me. The last time, ( last year ), they knew everything about me, before they stopped me,which i know they know, including addressing me by my christian name. They knew i had insurance, mot, road tax, licence, and not so much as a scratch on the car. They could'nt give me a reason for stopping me, just routine, they said. I always thought they had to have a reason for stopping you, but apparently not, because i rang up about the ' incident ' .

As you say, there might have been another incident in that area involving another car, but theres no way they could have confused my car with another.

The only way to beat the police is to play them at their own game and make sure they can't collect any revenue from you.

The Road Traffic Act gives police the power to stop a vehicle at any time to check that the driver has a licence, the car is insured or it has an MOT (if required). So, in short, no reason required.

Which seems stupid when they have access to that information before they stop you. But i totally agree with what you've said.

Ah I didn't know that. I was just basing it on something I saw on Traffic Cops years ago lol. IIRC they suspected drunk driver but waited until she pulled off the motorway without signalling so they could pull her.

Its my pet hate, being stopped for nothing, and theres no way a drop ever touches my lips even if i know i'll be driving early next morning. That would be insane, lol
