Aaarrgghh!!! Every year they turn up...this year 8 cards and a calendar. Never asked for them and don't want them. Hate this kind of emotional blackmail. OK so it says in the accompanying letter 'goods sent without obligation' but I do feel obliged to either buy the things or return them, (at my expense!!)....just wish they would stop sending them.....!!!!!
Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly!

I agree with you dorsetmiss, they annoy me too. Mine go straight into the recycling pile. I've never been tempted to use them, as they are such naff designs.
No matter how much we dislike their marketing techniques, they must work - I remember my gran getting mailings from them over thirty years ago.0 -
If they were from the foot and mouth painting peope would you feel the same?
Also, if you receive unsolicited goods, you can ask them to pick them up do NOT pay to return them. They have 6 months to collect then you get to keep the item. I'd probably pay for them as well as its a 'good cause' but it is emotional blackmail you are right and that is no way to sell your goods.0 -
For the first time ever my husband has received these, does this mean we will get them every year?
I am in the situation where I feel to chuck them away is a waste but if I send them then I should pay for them. Surely they have to pay the postage, people to pack them, etc... how many cards do they need to sell to break even.
It is emotional blackmail really, I would never pay £6 for 8 Xmas cards, way out of my price range' but you either have to use them or throw them away and it is wrong that they should send these out without you asking for them or being interested in the charity.0 -
I have had these a few times, also Cancer research etc keep sending me forms to make a donation with a free pen.
If I want to donate to these charities then I will, I dont need free pens and the emotional blackmail of cards from the blind etc. Im sure there are better ways of promoting the charities than spamming my letterbox, and they would save the postage costs to boot!
It all goes in the bin.0 -
I just crossed out my address sent it back with RETURN TO SENDER AND REMOVE ME FROM YOUR MAILING LIST on it a couple of years ago and I've never had them since. I hate them though. I think its Emotional blackmail.0

Well, that is it isn't it, I don't want to use them as then I'd feel bad for not paying for them, I don;t want to put them in the bin - why not just send a leaflet about the work they do if anything and a price list. If they don't want anything for them then why not send them for free and ask for donations
I think I will do as you suggest and pop them in the mail with a note across it.0 -
I used to get them and paid for them a few times when I wanted them but after I'd not sent them any money for a couple of years they stopped sending them. I give to charity but it's up to me to choose when and who to and I refuse to be blackmailed by post or in person by people on the street.0

I'm sure someone on another thread said that they aren't a charity as the artists don't want to be seen as a charity case... but are they ok with being seen as a dirty tactics, pulling on your heartstrings emotional blackmail organisation?Bought, not Brought0

Remember that it might be thought of as "a good cause" as JasonW wrote - but it is a commercial organisation, not a charity.0

Cancer Research junkmail is chucked into the recycling bin but I always keep the pen, it is handy to keep by the phone (except now they have wierd cardboard pens). I would never give to them either having worked for them and seeing how they waste money by continually buying office furniture!
As for the mouthpaintings - these are treated the same, they are unsolicited and go into the recycling bin.
I make it a policy to never buy anything at the door, over the phone or from unsolicited mail.0
