Hi MC, Shala, ictd and NG, thanks for your messages.
Less than a week until I start the injections and I have to take them for an extra 9 days because of Christmas. A massive box of drugs arrived on Friday and some of the needles are very long. I got a prescription pre-payment certificate so I've saved about £1.50 so far but will save more if I have to be on the drugs for longer.
I could not bring myself to tell my friends about the treatment despite people taking about starting families, being asked outright and the offer of baby things.
We're back off holiday. It was too short but we had a great time. I miss the sun and water already. It was quite expensive. Next year we plan to stay in the UK but if I was not starting the treatment we would be tempted to go skiing. I'm sure my head would have over-ruled that want with the thought of future IVF costs.
This month I've paid off another £10.62 off the mortgage, spent £82.50 on Christmas presents for my nieces and soon another £50 on birthday presents for 2 of them. Paid £260 back to the bank of mum and dad. We hit the sales and bought some clothes. I bought some jewellery for the wedding and took most of it back.
The T$B vantage higher rate finished so I need to find a new place to put the extra money. I'm thinking the FlexDirect account may be a good place.
We're still waiting for the plumbers bill. Mr P is doing some work for them so the bill should be a bit lower whenever it finally arrives. Our house renovation fund is totally depleted. I hope to get it up before the plumber asks to be paid.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Hi Peonie
Have read through your diary. Just wanted to say sorry you have had such a rough time of TTC so far, but fingers crossed that IVF works out for you.
Sounds like you have made some big changes in your money management, and I love the Sunny Day fund. Might have to steal that idea myself for a 2015 target.M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
I lurk often but generally don't post but I just wanted to wish you all the best for the IVFUpdating soon...0

Thanks icontinuetodream, bluemoo and Courgette. Everyone on here has been really positive about my coming treatment. Thanks again. Only a few people know about it in real life and some of the comments below IVF articles can be negative to say the least. My clinic has a 57% success rate and like every other couple I really hope it works for us.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Only a few little money changes, ha ha, doubling our mortgage and Mr P quitting his job. He's really busy at the moment; I keep telling him to make hay while the sun shines. It's a lot harder to plan our finances when we (I) have no idea how much he's going to make.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120

Hope you have some friends that you can talk to TTC issues about? If not, MSE is always here!
Just a few 'little' changes :rotfl:
Have you thought about working out an average salary say 12k per annum/1k a month, and if it is over it gets saved in an easy access account, so if any months go under you can use those 'excess' savings. That way you stay on an even level.M3 Dec2015 #160 Target £150,000 (BU £155000)0 -
Hi BM, thanks for the salary ideas. All ideas are warmly welcome
I shall have to sneak onto his 1pad and see if I can work it out. His accounting software says what is owed by clients, paid, but does not take out the tax, national insurance etc and what goods Mr P had to pay for on behalf of his clients and got re-paid. So currently it's hard to work out what is profit/salary. Does anyone else self-employed use separate excel spreadsheets?
It's only recently that I've had real life people to talk to who have also been through the try to conceive problems we have and it's really helped. Plus there's a good forum on here with lots of knowledge information and support that I go on.Pots: House £6966/£7100, Rainy day Complete, [STRIKE]Sunny day £0/£700[/STRIKE], IVF £2523/£2523, Car up-keep £135/£135, New car £5000/£5000, Holiday £1000/£1000, MFW #16 £2077/£3120
