I set up a payment transfer to our mortgage account a few minutes ago and made my first overpayment. I love it. I OP'd £41.46. I wasn't going to bother with the pennies but then Tilly said she has OP'd the pennies may times and it all adds up.

So there you have it, 14 months after our first overpayment I have made our second. Our mortgage total is now:
    £148,000.00

And, I have even knocked another month off the mortgage, the end date is now:
    May 2036

    (Skips off to update signature).

What a lovely rounded number :T:T looks so pretty!:rotfl:
    Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.

I have to wrestle leftovers off MrMRN... he doesn't need seconds the same size of his firsts and he just complains he's over eaten afterwards so it's for his own good really.
If it's my mum's roast dinner I have to have seconds. Plus she throws food away if it's not ate so really it's my duty.

Yesterday was a NSD. Today I'm going to visit the curtain shop Done, they told me a sale is starting soon and to keep an eye out as the fabric might be in it. So I'm going to wait., clean the bathroom Done, move some furniture around Done, put a load of washing on Done and I also hope to tidy up a bit Erm, a little bit but not as much as I wanted to. If I can get Mr P to get some of the kitchen supplies boxes out of the attic we'll also get some of the kitchen cupboards stocked up Nope, not done. Mr P has been filling the kitchen cupboards and I swear I can't find a thing.

Thanks Shala, I think the next lovely round number will be £146,000.00 in 5 months time. You never know, my tiny overpayments might do something spectacular and reduce the interest so quickly I jump over £146K. If that happens I have no idea what the next lovely round number will be. I can dream can't I?

I'm with you on the heating Peonie, I will hold off as long as possible. DD has been grilling me as to why we have to freeze at home when eveyrone else she knows just has the heating on.(this was whilst wearing cut off denim shorts and a vest top yesterday):rotfl:

I hope you told her to put a jumper and some trousers on.

Today has been another NSD and I took my lunch to work. I'm glad I did as it's not stopped raining. The garden is flooded. Here's my latest money saving activity: I filled posh bottle of liquid hand wash with hand wash that cost £1.

Last night I cooked a chicken and we're having left over chicken again tonight.

Another NSD as Mr T's did not have any bargains and I took the last of the broth to work.

I want to get to October before doing a big food shop. 'Sell by' food shopping does not count as I want to take advantage of the bargains when they come up and we'll need to buy kitty food.

I am meeting friends soon for drinks, I'm trying to get out of having a meal to keep the costs down.

My excel spreadsheets keep pulling me in. I've added more columns this week to take into account my new savings hierarchy and I've been playing with the mortgage spreadsheet. Our mortgage interest per day is £10.12.

Tell me about it. I like socialising but on a budget! When I air this view everyone just invites themselves round to mine, which is cheaper... for them!

I see a new challenge forming... get interest below £10?

I'm afraid my friends will think I'm tight. You should get everyone to bring something round when they invite themselves to your house. There are some friends I know I can do this with but others I would not.

Hmmmm, I wonder how much I would have to OP take our interest below £10 a day a month ahead of the predicted date. Below £10 interest a day will definitely be a milestone.

  • The heating is definitely one area that I am weak on. We have had it on for 1 week now, only for a couple of hours in the morning (i get up at 6 and shower and it is bloody freezing by then) and a couple of hours in the evening. Although we have put loads of extra insulation in and are double glazed, our house just does not seem to retain any heat!

Wohoo, I've managed to go sub £10, interest per day, a month early without paying a single penny. I changed the number of decimal places. :rotfl:

When we were buying this house the owners said it was a warm house. My *rse* it is.

I'm still waiting for Mr Ts to phone and arrange a date to check if the house is suitable suitable for cavity wall insulation.

Today I went to the horse bank and set up the higher interest rate tier.

Mr P bought some cheaper cat food today and the girl cat ate it all. We could be on a winner there. And we're trying a Mr L cheapo butter.

I had another packed lunch today.

I'm interested in joining some challenges, can you suggest any?

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
