    woo, 12 sleeps!!

Well I didn't do much wedding related stuff at all at the weekend. I think all I did was do a rough list of group shots for our photographer and finish of our table names (we are naming the tables after bands we like, so I've put album covers into photoframes).

OH had his stag do on sat, which he enjoyed. He has spent weeks thinking they were gonna do something 'bad' to him, like shave his eyebrows or something but it went without a hitch, and he wasn't even too rough yesterday which was good! Only problem was he told MIL2B we aren't having speeches, and now she's pestering him and the best man (his brother) saying they HAVE to do speeches. Sigh. I've told OH if he doesn't want to do one, then he doesn't have to (my dad isn't doing one, just thanking everyone for coming). So next time she phones, she'll be told either to keep her nose out, we aren't having speeches or OH will just say it's sorted and then we just won't have them on the day - she's unlikely to kick of at the meal lol, and will save us 2 weeks of listening to why we should have speeches!

I'm quite annoyed at MIL2B tbh, apart from the fact she's interfering again, OH is now really nervous about the wedding again. He HATES being the centre of attention, we are going to see the registrar this afternoon to go through the ceremony and we are asking if it can be as short as possible. OH has agreed to do a first dance at the reception coz he knows it's important to me, but he's not even looking forward to the reception much as he'll be expected to make small talk with everyone and have to dance - normally at weddings etc, he's sat in the corner with a beer or disappears outside for a smoke - makes him sound anti social lol, he's not, he just doesn't like being the centre of attention. And now his mother of all people is upsetting him by keeping going on and on about him having to do X,Y and Z. And worst of all, she keeps asking if he's nervous! GRRRR!

Is there anyone who is totally not nervous at all? I'm not nervous in the slightest, excited beyond belief, but I'm not nervous! I think I'm driving OH mad myself as he keeps saying 'but you must be a bit nervous?', and I'm like 'Not in the slightest!'.

will I get a reduced sentence for murdering my MIL2B due to all the stress she is causing me?!

After my post yesterday, it turns out she phoned OH (while I was at work) and he had over 30 minutes of her going on about why he needs to do a speech at the wedding. Must have got quite heated as FIL2B ended up taking the phone of MIL2B!! Why can't she keep her nose out!

She also wanted to know why we aren't having a piper - we are, she just didn't know - so instead of being pleased about the fact we are having one, she's in a mood coz 'no-one tells her anything about the wedding!'.

Then it was why aren't we having any hymns - it's a civil ceremony, they aren't allowed!! Apart from that, I don't believe in any organised religion and OH is a non practicing Christian (he's not set foot in a church for over 20 years). But apparently coz I was christened (as a baby when I had no say in the matter) and OH went to church when he was younger (he was never christened BTW!), we should have some reference to God/religion in our ceremony. Well tough, even if it was allowed I would not want anything there. I'm quite happy for people to have their views on religion, but do not force them upon me!

And to top it all, after making my poor OH listen to all this for almost an hour, she has the cheek to say that he doesn't sound very happy and does he really want to be getting married!!!!!:eek::mad:

OH had to hide the phone from me last night so I didn't call her back and cause World War 3! Sorry for ranting, I feel better now!

bride2be, you poor thing! Your MIL2B sounds like a bit of a handful, to put it lightly!

I don't have any wisdom to share, as I'm very lucky in having a lovely, helpful MIL2B. Thing is, the stress levels now are high enough – I can't believe she's adding to yours like that!

Welcome toni – quite a few of us are getting hitched on the 26th. I'm praying for decent weather!

Things with me are better than they were last week. I'm getting something done each day: I got the menus designed and printed last night, and am going to print the order of service booklets this afternoon so I can start putting them together tonight. Twelve pages including the covers - seems excessive but I couldn't get it any smaller. And it looks like some of our evening guests are going to come to the wedding service, so that's probably 90 in total that we need to do.

Has anyone thought about confetti, by the way? I'd love to put out a basket of confetti cones or something but am reluctant to spend any more money! But I reckon many people will forget/not bother... What's everyone else doing?

Thanks guys, I'm feeling a bit better now. The worst of it is, I actually get on with MIL2B fine most of the time, but it just bugs the h**l our of me how nosy she is, needs to know EVERYTHING and if she doesn't agree or thinks she's being left out of things then she acts like a 12 year old, actually no, a 5 year old!

She hates the fact that we live over 2 hours away from her, especially as we are only about 15 mins from my folks (it was even worse when OH left home and moved in with me at my folks before we got our own place lol). According to OH, she has all these ideas in her head we are round at my folks every night planning the wedding and not telling her anything :mad::mad:. When in fact, nothing could be further from the truth, my folks have always been there for advice if I asked but have kept out of it all. My mum didn't even come dress shopping with me!

Anyhow, I really hope she phones again this week and I answer coz she will be told VERY firmly it is our day and we'll be doing things OUR way! She still thinks I am kidding about having a VW camper as my wedding car, don't know what she'll make of the cake being shaped like one as well (complete with life like cake toppers of me, OH and our dog!).

Oh the next 11 days are going to be fun!

Oh Bride2Be - I can't quite believe how some people feel the necessity to pile on more stress at what is pretty much the pinnacle of stressful times! As you said, her behaviour is obviously stemming from the fact she feels left out of some non-existent wedding conspiracy but I guess the only thing you can do is start getting firm with her. And explain that you are very stressed, you have a million things to do & plenty else to worry about without having to deal with her hissy fits over things that are too late to change even if you wanted to, which you don't!

Welcome to the 26th May club Toni. There's a few of us here!

MsShopper - I was going to do individual cones/mini packets of confetti but again it was one of those things that now we're here, I just can't be bothered! I've instead bought a little basket for the flowergirl, bought 4 boxes of biodegradable confetti from eBay (our church doesn't mind what we have but thought it'd be better to have environmentally friendly stuff!), and I'll get someone to fill up the FG's basket so she can offer some round. It's a little job for my FG so she's happy! I've also spread the word to some guests when I've seen them that confetti is allowed so feel free to being some along.

hi all, only 10 days to go for us all in the 26th club!

No word from MIL2B last night, thankfully :j

Hopefully will be booking our honeymoon this afternoon or tomorrow, super excited!

Need to decide tonight/tomorrow what tunes we would like our piper to play at the wedding. Then I need to finalised our Order of The Day cards and print them out at the weekend.

We aren't having confetti, unless anyone brings their own, but are giving the kids (and some grown up kids lol) bottles of bubbles.

Getting so close, I can't wait!!

Good luck to xtinkersx and MrsErtasToBe for tomorrow!

And for those of us in the 26th club, one week tomorrow!
    Are we all ready?

I'm totally not ready for next weekend lol!

    Still to do:
    Order of the Day
    Thank You Presents
    Email DJ our song list

Plus I'm sure there is more!

Had a few last minute panics this week - my sister wears a back brace and got a new one, and now her flower girl dress doesn't zip up!! Panic phone call to the dress maker who did our alterations, we are going to see her Monday for her to have a look, she recons she will be able to do something, thankfully!

Then we are hiring a taxi as the car for the bridesmaids/flowergirls/my mum, as it needs to have wheelchair access for my sister. Emailed taxi firm to confirm times etc yesterday and they come back and say the one wheelchair access vehicle they have has just been covered in advertising!! Manager was very apologetic and will cancel our booking without charge if we find something else, but it's still a hassle I could do without. We are going to see another one this morning and hopefully that will be alright.

And I manage to sprain one of my toes yesterday, don't know how, but last night I could hardly walk, let alone bend the toe! Thankfully the swelling has gone down today and I can almost bend it.

They say things come in 3s, so that's them, all done and dusted so I can enjoy this next week!

Oh, we have our honeymoon booked!! Got the confirmation through yesterday so we are off to Lake Garda in Italy for a week! Flying out on the Wed after the wedding, which gives me time to do some clothes shopping before we go lol!

Good luck to everyone getting married this weekend!
