I know long range forecasts are inaccurate but since 7th May has appeared, I can't help checking everyday.

The grounds of my venue are beautiful and most of the photo places are outside so I really need it to be not raining.

One says sunny and not much cloud cover.
Two say cloudy and 1-3mm of rain over the whole day.
One says 90% cloud cover and 10mm rain.

Olokia, doesn't sound like anything a pretty umbrella won't cure. Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

For us, we are on the home stretch now:

    Stag done
    Hen done
First dress fitting done (couple of inches to remove!)
    RSVPs received
    Table plan drafted
    Suits fitted

All stationery still to do, veil to make, balances to pay. Finish all my DIY projects!
On a training course at work with homework so no time to do wedding stuff in the evenings, but as of next week I have a new temp jobs with my company which means I will be home within 20mins everyday!

    Xx

    Hey all,

Hope you're all well. Can't believe it's just one month away for us now. Time is flying by!

I've not been doing much planning stuff this past fortnight. I let the work + wedding stress get the better of me, and it all got a bit too much. So I took some time out from wedding nonsense, had a few nights out with different friends, a bit of a cry with the OH, cleared some of my work backlog and now feel much, much better. It means I'm a bit behind in my wedding to-do list, but it's still do-able I think. The main things we still need to are:

    Give notice (this Friday)
    Have final dress fitting (Saturday)
    Organise beauty appointments (nails, brows)
Have my hen do (Bank Holiday weekend) :j
    Write place names
    Design and print menus
Print order of service booklets, seating plan, table numbers and a few other bits
Buy rings (have picked them out)
    Buy family gifts
    Buy groomsmen's shirts and ties
    Buy flower girls' shoes
Pay balance on car, hairdresser, photobooth, flowers, church and venue. Photographer and band we pay on the day.

Doesn't seem too scary now I've written it down, especially if I can get a lot of it done this weekend.

The other thing I have to do, though, is chase RSVP stragglers. We still have four day guests who haven't replied, which is very annoying. I want to finish the seating plan!

bride2be, I'm with you on the rash, by the way! I think it must be stress related – I've broken out into tiny red spots around my neck and d!colletage. Not a good look! I've stopped moisturising there and it's starting to calm down, but I might have to crack open the hydrocortisone cream if it doesn't disappear in the next week or two.

Aside from that, I'm also trying to stick to my diet (30 pounds lost in total!) and have put myself on a new skincare regime using all sorts of scary anti-wrinkle stuff from the 'Skin Doctors' range. Not sure if it's doing anything really, but I suppose I've only been on it a week! :rotfl:

I'm also trying (and failing) to post on my wedding blog more frequently (though that got put on the back-burner during my stress-out). I got my very first comment on there today, though, which was a bit of excitement for me!

I think that's it for now. Hope you're all getting on well, and best of luck to the early May brides! xx
  • 10 days to go and I've mostly dropped off the boards due to panic  At some point I decided it would be nice to use the veil that MIL2B offered from her wedding, alter this from cathedral to mid length (told I can chop as much as I like into it) and use it. Except now my glittery bits won't stick to it and I'm on the verge of just getting a cheap veil from interweb.

And still waiting for the permission to come through to get married in the church.

On the plus side my dressmaker is just finishing the hem and the dress is done, fits and is very light, which is a nice surprise! The food tastes good, the wine is going to be YUM and the dancing will be fun. And the breakout on my forehead is going away - it must have been from my Benefit makeover so it's Bare Minerals all the way for me!

Our cat is going on holiday on the Friday morning and will be picked up on Monday evening. He might not like it but once he's in the carrier he ain't got much of a choice. Plus we'll spoil him when he's home.
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o

Ten days stationaryace! No wonder you've been in a panic. I'm trying to hold on to my newly found 'zen' but I know it won't last for long! :)

Glad to hear your breakout is fading, and your dress is almost sorted. What permission do you need from the church?
  • One month to go!!!

Got my hen night on Sat, I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone but that's about it really, so wishing I hadn't bothered about have a hen night, it's just not my cup of tea at all. :(

Glad to say my breakout is almost all gone, my skin is just a bit dry where the rash was, so moisturising like mad - I used to suffer from dermatitis (still do on my scalp) so have super cream that I got from the doc last time I had a breakout of that. Never used it on my face before as it is super greasy but it is helping so will stick with it!

This weekend, apart from my hen night, I have to:
    • Pick up dress for hen night (local bridal shop selling off bridesmaid dresses for £25 on Facebook!!! Have reserved a lovely tea length lilac dress, can't wait to see it!)
    • Find 5 photoframes. We have decided to name our tables after bands we like, and will be putting album covers into photoframes.
    • Chasing up the last of the evening RSVPs
    • Have final dress fitting
    • Try and find thank you gifts for everyone
    • Except our flowergirls, I have ordered them bracelets and need to pick them up
    • Also need to pick up signing frame and favours
    • Make waxing appointment and OH has decided he wants a manicure, but I have to make it at a quiet time so no-one seems him going into the beauty salon!! :rotfl:

    I think that's it!

10 Days to go for me!!! :j

    Yes feeling both those emotions.

Everything pretty much sorted! Final suit fitting this Saturday, as well as meeting the registrar. Dinner tasting next Wednesday (cutting it close I know)

Just need to pay final balances for DJ/Singer, registrar and hotel.

Need to find time to do table plan ourselves, but if not the hotel said they would do one.

Hoping to haggle a bit more out of our venue though such as free canapes or some complimentary spa treatments for the WTB.

The reason being is since we booked it back in Nov 10, we have had four different wedding planners, they managed to "misplace" £1000 of my money and the venue has had some pretty poor reviews.

Anyway new management has taken over and they have assured me everything will be much better. Here's hoping!

    MM
