    So far I have done

    1. Booked venue
    2. Registrar booked and notice given
    3. Told half the guests and chosen STDs for the rest
    4. Bought my dress and veil (currently in a cupboard at home)
    5. Bought bridesmaid dresses
    6. Booked florist
    7. Made my wedding favours (2 1.5oz jam jars with crab apple jelly in one and strawberry jam in the other)
    8. Started choosing ceremony songs and first dance song
    9. Found two bands, have to choose between them. Will book this week
    10. Chosen wedding rings
    11. Booked honeymoon in Dominican Republic
    12. Chosen the meals to try at the test meal in October.
    13. If we like the dessert at the test meal then we have chosen a M&S cake, otherwise we will buy a cake from a bakery which hasn't been researched yet.
    14. Hotel booked for night of wedding
    15. Bought the champagne and found a supplier for the wine (OHs Aunt)
    16. Guest list sorted including back up people because we are expecting some not to be able to make it

Need to do in next month:
    1. Order chosen STDs and send them to the guests who don't know yet
    2. Book the chosen band
    3. Finish coding the website
    4. Buy shoes
    5. Go to test meal and finalise menu
    6. Go to bakeries if we don't like the dessert at venue. M&S cake is fine if there is dessert as well but we want something tasting better if it is the only dessert.
    7. Finish choosing the music so I can learn to dance the first dance song in my high heeled shoes.

Just had an email from my venue inviting me to their wedding open day. They said we have an opportunity to view the "newly refurbished" Oak room which is the room we are getting married in. I hope it still looks as good as it did before. I am probably worrying for nothing but I really want to see it now. The open day is on the 16th Oct so I will have to wait until then but again
  • Well guys wedding dress ordered. £225 what a bargin. I did not want anything to heavy our bulky as getting married in cyprus. Someone suggested that instead of going for a wedding dress go for a bridesmaid dress in ivory. So I did got the most gorgous dress going to get some xtra beading added to it. Its perfect and very similar to wedding dress i was gonna by for £1000
  • Hello Girlies!

Thanks for the welcomes off all of you! looks like you have all gotten so much done!

    Well update!

I have booked Church (met with the Vicar who's absolutely lovely - and I cried when he said a prayer for us! If i can't get through that, what am I going to be like on the day - note to self - water proof mascara)

Venue booked and deposit paid for - with rooms for guest from afar!

Dress brought and ready to be altered 5 weeks pre wedding,

all stuff for invites brought (colour theme sorted) just got to make them!

Bridesmaid, best men (we have two) picked and sorted...

Guest lists... almost done - may need some fine tuning!

Church bells sorted, cars sorted, flowers sorted!

Got to get two bridesmaids dresses, one for my lovely best friend and one for my step daughter to be :) (Purple and lilac)

urmmmm... some table decorations have been brought as well!

Oh and balloon holders! (weight thingys!)

Seems to be coming on ok!

    How's everyone else?

    :) have a great weekend!

    E xxx
  • wow embabes, you are organised!

I had my first dress appointments today - no one asked my budget and only one had an information form to complete. I had found 'the dress', however it is a hybrid of two dresses I tried on this morning :p I'll have to check if it actually exists outside of my head.

in the next three weeks I plan to:
    pick and order my dress
    buy material for the invitations
shortlist photographers (and book if there's one we like)

there's probably a lot more to do but that will be enough for now.
when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it :o
  • Hello everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining in... I'm getting married at the end of May, and have a feeling I've been far too lax about it!

I've booked the basic things and took a chance on a China wedding dress (the lure was too great - I'm just intrigued more than anything else! will let you know how it goes!) We're doing it extremely cheaply and keeping it under £2000 (for a full day for around 100 people) is seeming very likely... well let you know how that works out :S

I'm finding it REALLY hard to focus though... everything is roughly scheduled but whenever I sit myself down and say 'right, this is the final numbers cut' I then get distracted with seating plans, and table decorations, and the drinks!

I've got less than 8 months left and despite spending about 300 hours looking at all sorts of styles and colours, I still have NO idea what I want for bridesmaid dresses!

Oh well, just thought I'd say hello :)

    xx

hellooooo i have just joined this thread and am intrigued with your plans as we are working with same budget, so far so good....... how abt u? tips please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! do u have any colours in mind for flowers/deco etc which you cld make ur theme and have that colour for bridesmaids?
  • Hi all, sorry I've been caught up with other things so haven't checked this thread in a while. Hello to all the newbies! We are date twins burtons angel! We've booked all the big things now so I'm feeling quite organised. Our invites have arrived but I need to figure out how to print the information off and then I'll have to assemble them. And very exciting - my veil arrived this morning! I took a chance & ordered it online from wedding veils direct and I'm really happy with it. It was much cheaper (and nicer) than the one I tried on in the bridal shop!

We've got a lot of crafty projects on the go - we're collecting jam jars and spraying them with glass frosting spray to use them as lanterns. I've sewed all our bunting flags but need to sew them on to the ribbon. I've spent hours making our pew ends only to then find out that due to the way the pews are in our church, I can't use them - argh! I have bought a couple of wooden toy dolls which we are going to paint to personalise and put on top of our cake, and we've made lots of bits for our DIY photobooth. We are putting together personalised CDs for guests to listen to on the journey between the church and reception (it's a good 20min drive if the traffic is good but much longer if it isn't!). I'm still on the hunt for cheap glassware for our sweetie table and I've earmarked my dad's cash & carry card for the sweetie shop in the new year. A lot of projects to keep us busy over the winter months!!! :)

    Hello burtonsangel,

well the first thing we did was book a registry office - £100 for a Friday, and it's absolutely GORGEOUS! it only fits a few people in but we're saying people can wait in the gardens if they want or meet us at the reception venue which is just a simple, but still rather pretty and extremely practical village hall. It's got a fully equipped kitchen, banqueting chairs and tables... everything you'd need really. and we get that from lunchtime the day before. so our venues, equipment and ceremony are sorted for under £500 in total!

we're doing a booze cruise to Calais - some place called the calais wine store or something pays for your eurotunnel or ferry over if you make a minimum order - from as little as £250.

the food will be a cold buffet that we're all going to make the day before and prepare as much as possible before hand. nice cold stuff tho - thai salads, dressed salmon, that sort of thing. just a mix, but all stuff that can keep for a day or two or be prepared very easily...

the dress from china was £95, but that should arrive this week. it could be a horrible mistake but i thought it was worth the risk just to see what it looked like. if that doesn't work out i'm just going to buy off the rack but make my own adjustments - y'know adding flowers or your own beads, that sort of thing, so it's a bit personal. my mum also said she'd make me a dress so hopefully we'll have it covered. I'm more concerned about hair and make up really because i do want that to be great. i don't think the dress can go too wrong as i'm not going for anything wacky or out there - just nice and simple...

hmm what else, oh the theme is woodland/foresty - so lots of green which is easy to get. we're thinking of just going for a wander around the woods and gathering branches and hanging fairy lights off them and wrapping ivy around beams... that sort of thing!

i'm really glad i booked the registry office straight away though, just because with all the extra browsing of venues and looking online i know i'd have talked myself into spending more. so with a clear rational head i booked that, so everything just has to work around it.

what about you? how are your plans going? xx
