  • Aww thanks everyone. It is a great dress and I'm over the whole MIL2B thing now. Instead I'm focusing my attentions on all the trimmings to accessorise my dress...!

I love your bridesmaid dresses ruthybabs and MsShopper (the blue one is definitely my fave!). They will look lovely!

Sorry katini but I don't have any recommendations but I'm sure there are others on the forum that have faced a similar predicament. The age old DJ vs band argument is ongoing in our house! But it looks like yet again I will be giving in to the OH (who's wedding is it anyway?!! :p)

I wish we'd saved and blown all the money on a honeymoon ShellG! It was always the most important bit for me (yet another thing I compromised on!). We are hoping for gift contributions to our honeymoon and we'll make up the difference, so we won't have anything booked ahead of the wedding. It does mean we'll have honeymoon planning to look forward to post-wedding though!

Hi Shell-a surprise honeymoon, how exciting!

I agree it's difficult with the DJ/band thing. We can't afford the kind of band I'd like so have just booked the DJ from the club and hope he'll be ok with your typical wedding cheese. H2B has several friends in bands or who are singers and wants them all, but have decided to leave that with him and if he persuades one to sing (preferably for free) then it's a bonus!

My teenage bridesmaid dresses arrived today (DD1&2) and I'm really pleased with them, especially given their price! 4 happy bridesmaids! Have asked them to buy their own shoes, with the exception of DDs who I will obviously have to buy for, so really that's them sorted. just need to decided on jewellery (will be their presents) and see if i can afford hairdresse

Nice getting another thing off the list!
MsShooper-loved the messages in a bottle-food for thought. thanks x

    Hi Embabes

Congratulations on setting the date! Welcome to May2012. We're almost date twins (I'm the 4th) and there are a few more ladies on that weekend too-can't just think who right now but didn't want to read and run!

Looking forward to hearing all your plans. Have you chosen/booked anything yet?

oops my bad, I'm on 5th May too :T we have paid the reception deposit and am meeting with my priest at the weekend, although we are going for the church near the venue not his church. still have to work out how to fit 87 people into a 65 seater church.

MsShopper I LOVE those dresses, particularly the green one. hmm now I want green for the bridesmaids...

ShellG I hadn't thought of Maplin for lights. We are having an Ipod instead of a DJ as I've never heard a wedding DJ play music I like *cough* plus I might have overspent on the venue *cough* Toying with the idea of kareoke/SingStar for later on as my OH will be singing and it could be fun if others get to join in too. would need to have a kill sign worked out with the venue if things started going wrong (ie if someone hogs the mike all night or if it gets too bad).

Hi hope everyone's having a great bank holiday weekend.

Just a quick post to say sister received her dress, loves it, it fits perfectly and she's a very happy bunny! So all 4 of my girls sorted now-yay! Was dreading it after reading some posts about how difficult it can be, but has been a dream!

Bought a FG dress off ebay last night for DD3 for £3. Can always sell on if no good.

So just the boys to sort out.....oh, and H2B is home on Saturday-yay!!!!!

Thanks stationaryace! I really love them. And - hooray - after some more trying on sessions this weekend, all my BMs have agreed their own individual favourites. They're in the ones I posted earlier, plus my MoH is in this one (but in navy):

    So everyone's happy! Phew! :)

I love the idea of a karaoke to finish off the night, though I like your thinking in terms of having a 'kill switch'! :D I'm hoping to end up with a bit of a sing-song - there's a guitarist and a fiddle player among my side of the family, so I might ask them to bring their instruments along.

Glad to hear all your BMs are happy with their dresses too, ruthybabs. And £3 is an amazing price for your flowergirl's dress! I still need to sort our FG's dress - I must check out eBay.

Finally, congrats embabes, and welcome to the thread. How are your plans coming along? :)
