  • oh, I'm mega excited! Me and my OH are massive VW fans, and I've managed to get a VW camper for my wedding car!

I've wanted one for as long as I can remember, but as our wedding is about 150 miles from the nearest company that has them, it was just going to be too costly. I tried a local company last month that hires them out for people to use on holidays, but they said they only do it for week long lets in May. But they just e-mailed me tonight to say they have just bought a classic split screen especially for wedding use, and am I still interested - too right I am!

OH wondered why I was sitting with a huge cheesy grin on my face when he came in from cutting the grass lol!
  • Been to the registry office today and officially now booked the registrar for our venue :) Very excited. Everyone seems to be so organised!
  • ooh, congrats Poppleminster!

I seem to be on a bit of a roll just now, after the campervan excitment last night, have just bought my flower girl dresses from ebay (size too big, in the hope neither of them grow that much in 9.5 months!).

    Hope the link works!:

Congrats Poppleminster-you're official now! How exciting.

Bride2be-I'm glad you got your VW, will make for some really great pics and your flowergirl dress is lovely. Just have my flowergirl (DD3) to sort out now, so I have my eyes open. Just not sure quite what to go for with her yet, as the dress I liked originally from tesco is now no longer available. Will find something I'm sure!

Couldn't sleep last night, so got cracking with website. It's still very much a work in progress, but if anyone wants a peek
    it's here

Have also decided on corsages for BM and maybe a pomander for FG. Seen this one and think I could make something similar with a small sunflower rather than the gerbera. corsage

    Have a nice day xx

  • Your website is fab Ruthybabs, I'm going to try making one on Wordpress or similar, my web coding skills have gone a bit rusty since uni though, so will see how I get on!
  • Love the flower girl dresses!

Ruthybabs the website looks fab. I started one ages ago and you've inspired me to give it another go! :)

Suddenly it seems like I haven't got long. Baby due mid October so will not be up to much then for a few weeks / months at least!

Ruthybabs (or 'rugby abs' as my autocorrect wants to call you!), the website is amazing. I want to get started on one but I haven't made one since I was 16 and playing on the free geocities websites so I will have to investigate where to get one.

I got the invite samples that I ordered from PDA yesterday, we are both really happy with them so are definitely going with pocket folds from PDA. Also got their card sample swatches-far too much choice when the closest thing we have to a theme is 'blue?'!

It's a free one, getting married, recommended by one of the girls on here-Msshopper I think.

Go here they have all the templates etc it's very easy just upload your pics and type in your info. the hardest thing is guaging it so it's not too boring but so you don't come across like some kind of loon! (well that was the hardest bit for me!) The maps and stuff are their addition and the hotels link is really useful.

Have password protected it for now but not to hide it from anyone on here, so if anyone wants it, it's just newcastle.

Have a go-if I can do it, you can!

bride2be, I'm a bit jealous of you with your camper van! I wondered about having one a while back, so think I'll look into it again. My wedding seems to have a bit of a '60s flavour to it, and that would be perfect.

Poppleminster, glad you've made it official! I've been putting off sorting whatever it is we have to do. We're marrying in a Catholic church outside of our parish (it's my dad's parish church) so I think there's all sorts of logistical nonsense to overcome.

ruthybabs, your website's looking great! And I love the corsage idea. You'll have to post some pics when they're done.

clairus, I think we're going to go with PDA as well. Their prices are great, though it does all add up… I'm just waiting on a new printer at work that can print on card. I've told the IT manager that I'm happy to 'test' it for him. :rotfl:

Not much else going on with me wedding-wise - just impatiently awaiting the next payday so I can buy more bits and bobs! :)
  • Oooh bride2be, I love the idea of a camper van! And congrats Poppleminster on making it official!!! Ruthybabs - I've ordered a flowergirl dress from Tesco so can report back on the quality/fit when I go and pick it up. Also, I love your website, we've got a 'getting married' website too - I LOVED setting it up! It's still work in progress so hasn't been sent out to the guests yet but I've taken off the password protection for a bit, if you want a sneaky preview! http://the-peauchamps.gettingmarried.co.uk/
It really is very easy to set up. And so much fun! I have no website design experience but it's all standardised templates which you fill in as desired!

I'm still awaiting the arrival of the bridesmaid dresses I bought from eBay because they are a completely different shade of green than I was planning on, so I will have to review the colour scheme slightly if the bridesmaids are happy with them. Annoyingly this means I'm having to hold off on the invitations. I love the idea of pocketfolds - I think they look lovely. And my OH has found that he can use his creative design team at work to design & print off our inserts for £30 - which sounds like a good deal!

Having been through the most stressful week so far in wedding planning, we've met with our original venue and have been reassured enough to continue with our booking. So we're now going to pay the deposit on the wedding car (some vintage car - a Rolls Royce I think?!! I was happy enough to turn up in our friend's Micra but got put back in my box by the OH!) and I'm going to try on my dress a second time tomorrow and hopefully order it! :)
