Hi everyone! Not been on for a while as we have been moving house and been without proper internet for about a week! (seems so much longer!)
Now things have settled on the moving front, getting on with wedding plans again. Me and my mum are going to see a florist on Monday next week - I really don't know what to do about flowers, I really want real ones but don't know if my budget will stretch!
Going to the in-laws at the weekend, which will be interesting! MIL2B phones the other night saying she had sorted one of her friends from church to make our cake - thing is, I've had a family friend offer to make our cake since we got engaged about 18 months ago! MIL2B wasn't too impressed that we already had it arranged - despite promises that she wouldn't interfere with our plans!0 -
Finally found us on page 8!
I got a little nervous when I was at a wedding fair last Sunday as everyone kept telling me not long to go now. I feel like I am never going to be ready!
Only 6.5 months to go.
Finally booked my band.
Test meal this Sunday
Cake tasting this Sunday
Received Save the Date cards, need to send them out.
All the major things apart from cake have been done.
How is everyone else getting on?0 -
Thanks Olokia - this thread has been a bit neglected, hasn't it?
I haven't been on these boards much lately - I think I OD'd on wedding planning, so took a bit of time out from it. But the break's been great, as I'm all excited about it again. Can't believe how quickly the time is going either! Eek!
We've sorted most of the main things: venues, band, car, dress, bridemaids outfits, cake. The next things on the list are stationery and rings.
I've also decided to do some craft/DIY elements, which I want to start on soon, namely these favours (but in our colours of silver and midnight blue):
Paper pom poms for the church pews (no budget for flowers!) in ivory:
And maybe something like this, but heart shaped, to hang from the chairs:
All those plus designing our stationery should keep me busy for a while anyway!
How's everyone else finding their planning so far?0 -
I wondered where our thread had gone!!
We went to a wedding fayre last week too and they said the same, oohh not long now. I thought SH**!! Your right! Still got so many things to sort - but fortunately, just the 'bits'.
I have seen some beautiful small pearl picture frames that I would love to have for the ladies as place cards/favours. They are £2.30 each though, plus p&p they will work out quite expensive. Just dont know what to do!Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0 -
Wedding Test Meal done :j That was a really good meal even if I had to make sure I only ate 1/3 of each plate. (There were 3 of us there trying 3 dishes each course).
Also because we decided that the desserts were soo good, we are getting a M&S cake so that is sorted as well. (If the desserts had been meh, then we would have gone for a proper bakery cake instead).
Our menu is:
Starter: Wild Mushroom and Chive Feuillete
Main: Pan-fried Magret Duck with Honey and Thyme jus
Dessert: White Chocolate and Champagne Torte with mixed berry compote.:D
Save the Date cards about to be sent.
Next job: Buy the lilac tulle and ivory ribbon (or ivory tulle and lilac ribbon... Not sure yet) to wrap the jam favours in. This will also be their place setting. And find some shoes. I have very wide feet so this may be difficult.0 -
I've finally booked a florist, which I'm very happy about.
Now want to tackle suit hire. Have any of you already booked this and have any recommendations?0 -
I really want to get my florist booked too, saw her a few weeks ago and am very happy with what she came up with. However, there's a chance OH will be getting paid off between now and the end of the year so all wedding planning is on hold
Hope everyone else is having a better time with their planning! x0 -

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear that. When will you find out? Fingers crossed that it doesn't happen and you can get planning again.0 -
We're not sure yet, they are carrying out performance reviews etc at the moment. Doesn't help that OH and his supervisor had a big fall out last week  nothing can be done about that now though, so just hoping he still has a job!
Desperately want to get on with the wedding planning though! The florist is the only big thing left to book, I want to exchange my Tesco vouchers for Goldsmith vouchers, and really want to start getting organised for making my invites (plan to make them when I'm off on Xmas hols). But I'm not letting myself do anything, in case we have to scale the wedding right back (not that it's a big do in the first place), or even postpone it0 -
Bridetobe2012, think I would be right in saying that we all have our fingers crossed for you and your OH.
Hope everyone else is progressing well now-less than 7 months to go!
Feels like ages since I have posted on here! We have progressed a little:
Honeymoon is booked!
We now finally have a time for the ceremony (2pm) which means that we can star the invites! We have agreed on what they will look like and are waiting til next weekend to order (PDA Cardcraft have a sale then apparently). I did a trial run with our home printer and it seems to take about ages to print a sheet of A5 card so we have decided to get the insets printed by PDA for a little bit extra. Also avoids the running out of ink situation, and me having to sit on the floor of the spare room feeding card into the printer for weeks! Still need to finalised the guest list though
Flowergirl/little bridesmaids dresses bought-I didn't mean to! One of them had come up to visit and I probably won't see her in the next six months (they live about 250miles away) so we went shopping to browse (honest) but ended up loving one of the dresses and buying them. Also got 2 bargain feathery-wrap/shrugs from Debenhams. I just need to find something for them to hold (not having flowers so petal baskets seems out of place, grown up bridesmaids are having brooch bouquets but they will be too heavy for a 7yo and a 1.5yo). My mum suggested getting them to carry a teddybear each, and I am always excited about a trip to Build-A-Bear workshop so I am considering having wedding teddies...
Band booked (finally!)
Booked in to give notice next month
Having a photo shoot with our photographer next month (which will become Christmas presents for parents)
So left to do:
Adult bridesmaids dresses
Suits
Shoes
Centrepieces
Bouquets
Invites
Hair and makeup
Hmmm, surely there is a lot more to do...0
