For my wedding website, I am a programmer so I am coding it myself.

I did make the majority of it last October before I got a full time job as a programmer. Since then, I am finding it difficult to program all day and then come home and do some more. Might get my OH to help finish it as he also is a programmer.

    Hi girls

Think i'll get the girls to do the website and just veto the pics and language they use otherwise anyone over 16 might not be able to understand any of it! It's something to get them involved and I don't have the patience for all the faffy bits so it will save me time-good plan all round! Ms Shopper Can I ask what you used for yours if like me you weren't clever enough to completely write your own (complete kudos to you olokia!)

Have been to see a jeweller today to talk about wedding rings. I am currently wearing his grandma's wedding ring and we have talked at length about what to do with it when we marry as I would like a white gold ring (all my jewellery is silver or white gold) and this is yellow. He wore the ring for 20 years until he asked me to wear it and it has deep sentimental attachment for him as he promised her he would only give it to the person he wanted to marry. I know it's very sweet, that's why I was never bothered about the engagement ring thing (even though the princess part of me is looking forward to a pretty ring of my own!)

This has turned into a long rambling post, I'm sorry! Anyway, the point is we agreed that we didn't want it languishing in a jewellery box somewhere, but neither of is wanted to wear it. Solution was to have rings made for both or us using the ring to provide an accent of yellow gold somewhere in our predominantly white rings, then we both get to wear it and something old becomes something new linking us both.

So he needs to see the finished design to make sure he's happy, but he asked me to go. I have come up with a satin finish white gold ring that has an edge of yellow gold on one side-hard to explain properly but doesn't look as uneven as it sounds. Obviously we are not paying for the yellow gold and only for the making of the rings and 9ct white gold. The jeweller has quoted £350 and £250-do you think that's reasonable? I know they would be unique and meaningful because of where the gold has come from.

Just wondered what you thought. Sorry for going on so much! Missing talking to adults haha!

No idea if that's a good price but I love the idea.
An amazing use of the ring

Ruthy....what a wonderful way to bring new life back into the ring and creating something you can both wear....its a very reasonable price too considering there is still going to be some new needed..it compares well with the prices of new rings but what you will end up with is something of priceless sentimental value....hope your OH agrees the design...

Ruthybabs, I think your idea for the rings is perfect, and the price is good too. How lovely that you get to have such a special, personal touch to your wedding jewellery.

As for the website, I don't have Olokia's coding skills either, so I used www.gettingmarried.co.uk. It's easy-peasy to use and there are plenty of fab templates and ways to customise them. I'd definitely recommend. :)

Been looking at invitations and came across this-don't know how good it is or if it will even work, I had to do a little survey to get the link.

Free personalised wedding planner. http://www.ido-personalise.co.uk/weddingplanner/ I had to click on the 4 designs to choose from bit

It might be pants, but I thought they looked cute and they're free so i guess that's MSE! Let me know if the link works and if it lets you order one, I'll post it on the main board. :D

Also they have 50% off at the moment so really quite competitive if you like the moonpig type things. Found a code in a magazine for 105 off too-11DP12, but don't know if they'll both work

Thanks for all the positives about the rings, as long as he's happy we'll definitely go for it and as soon as I get my ring we can get them ordered, so that's something important and pricey out of the way. Excited now!

Will try the site you suggest ms shopper-or i'll get my staff to lol! Any links to your sites ladies?

Thanks for the link, Ruthybabs. We haven't ordered our stationery yet - I'll take a look!

Here's a link to our wedding website: http://aineandben.gettingmarried.co.uk. It's normally restricted with a password but I'll take that off for a little bit if you want a sneaky peek! :D

PS It's not quite finished yet!

I love it! I am totally inspired now! Will get the girls on it this weekend and post the link when I get it finished.

How lovely that you have the big family connection with the church and your uncle is marrying you xxx

Thanks ruthybabs! Glad you like it!

I'm really pleased we're getting married there. Plus my uncle is quite a character (brilliant fun but kind of eccentric!), so it should make for a memorable service! :D

hi everyone, not been on in a wee while as been on holidays, but everyone's plans seem to becoming along nicely!

Ruthybabs - your ring idea sounds fab! Although I love my engagement ring, it perhaps wasn't of the highest quality (I know that sounds cheeky, but I don't mean it to be!) and I would love my wedding ring to be something vvv special! But budgets will decide that..sigh...

Anyway, yesterday OH and I went to view two venues..one was arranged and one was on spec, as we happened to be passing anyway! First one was fine, but nothing special. The two managers/events co-ordinators were busy (we knew this before we went) so had the head receptionist show us around. The function rooms were fine, but nothing that made us go 'wow'! And couldn't discuss figures as the manager's were both busy.

The second venue we both kinda fell in love with. We couldn't actually see the function room (there was a funeral on, so couldn't really disturb them.), but the events co-ordinator seemed lovely and the hotel felt really welcoming. But unfortunately they are already booked on our wedding day! I'm totally gutted!

So I've got back in touch with venue one to arrange another meeting (with the actual manager), and also to see if we can see the venue set up for a wedding. Part of the problem was the venue seemed really dark and unwelcoming, but the person showing us round didn't bother to even turn the lights on! I think it will look better with the tables set out nicely, maybe even seat covers (though I swore I would never spend any money on something so trivial!)

    Sorry for the long post!
