Boots 75% off sale - possible date

  • Not sure about this. Their shelves are bare, goods all over the place making the stores look tatty and stale. I think they may have a 'flash' sale over the weekend so they can start anew next week. M & S started their Managers' sales on a Saturday and by Monday all that was left was tucked into a small corner so all the new stock could go out.

Well, that's what I'd do - and in a previous life I was a retail manager!
    :j

But if it is still ticking through at 50%, I'd give it another weekend and do the sale next week, if still stock left. This does seem to vary wildly from store to store though, so hard for head office to make the call. Maybe manager's reductions if stock levels are patchy?

I've worked in retail too - both in store and as a buyer, and I have to say that I've been expecting Boots to change tactics on this 75% clearance one day. When I worked in buying, if I regularly had to clear that amount of surplus stock at that hefty a discount, I doubt I'd have kept my job. They need to cut back on their ordering! (for their benefit not ours; they must take a huge hit on profit.)
I too would not hold the 75% sale every year, as then customers expect it and hold back buying. If they announced tomorrow that there genuinely wasn't going to be any further reduction, many would say "oh well" and buy at 50%. Not as much, (and not me!) but they'd clear a good percentage of it and make more money.

So I await what happens with interest.

(Also have bought quite a lot in the Body Shop sale, with discount codes & free delivery, so have some stock in my present/treat cupboard too. That last year was all from Boots!)

I'm seriously tired of Boots too over this but I disagree about things being overpriced at 50%. I think that is a reasonable price for most of the items. Things are underpriced at 75% off hence the reason why it's so popular. I'm waiting for 75% because my budget is really tight so I want to get as much as possible for the money I spend.

There's little left I want even at 75%, and none of it is anything I *really* want. I mainly like the excitement and energy that builds up around a boots sale. But I feel badly for people who count on this for a year's worth of gifts, and who are exhausting themselves staying up all night and running into stores in the morning to see if the sale is on. I really hope for their sake it happens soon!
  • Just been to my local boots, no sale today but boxes everywhere of new stock. Looked a real mess everywhere.
  • i love the 75% sale and am gutted it wasn't on wednesday as i am due my baby on sunday so probably going to be doubtful of even getting to the sale when its on now, but reading this thread has made me laugh.... why shouldn't boots keep their 50% sale going longer if they are making money on it, at the end of the day its a shop that wants to keep its profits high, so whilst the stuff is selling they should keep it at this price, i think holding back the 75% off sale is also nothing to do with this thread, afer all its got lots of us walking through their doors, when i went on wednesday to see if sale was on, i ended up buying nappies, a drink and chocolate bar so they are still getting sales out of us (maybe not all) but between saturday and wednesday the shelves had dramatically less stock so its obviously selling well!!! I think boots probably enjoy this thread if they read it, i remember when my mum used to buy 75% off stuff in her work breaks and the sale would last a while, now probably due to this thread and the internet as soon as its announced the stock is only left for a day or two so they get rid of it a lot quicker than they ever did before, and people are still buying cos everytime i go to my basket things are being removed as they have been sold out... i do think they will have the sale but it will be when they are ready not when we say we want it lol!!!!!!!!!!!

argh why are people still buying at 50% off? the original price is over priced to begin with, so in another store, when they have the same or similar product reduced to half price it will be even less! bloomin heck why do people even think they are getting a bargain? and why do people feel the need to buy tons of gifts right now for christmas, there is the whole year, and there will be loads of 50% off sales throughout the year, in other stores, where the original price isnt over priced to begin with. i understand why people go mad in the 75% sales because there arent that many sales with that amount off. but come on 50% off from boots is not a bargain really!

and like i said before, TO ALL THE PEOPLE BUYING NOW WITH THE INTENTION OF BUYING IT AGAIN IF IT GOES TO 75%.. HAVE YOU STOPPED TO THINK THINK THAT YOU ARE THE ONES MAKING THIS SALE GO SO WELL??? no wonder theres no decent stock left, are you really that desperate for these items right now?? at an overpriced 50% off! im 100% certain that whatever you are buying (either the same product or equivellent) will be on a better deal through the year. stop panic buying and get a grip. there will never be a 75% off sale again at this rate

    Goodness ... Calm down ... :o

This post sounds far too much like an assault than anything useful ... It should be remembered that anyone who chooses to wait to get items at 75% off are not entitled to anything more than those who choose to buy at 3 for 2 or 50% off ... or indeed full price!

Telling folks off ... MSE'ers or otherwise ... for still buying now is in my mind simply aggressive and uncalled for ...

Everyone has the option .. grace .. indeed PERMISSION ... to buy if and when they wish ... and no one has the right to a privileged selection at any price ...

By all means wait for and look forward to the sale (if it comes) yourself ... but certainly do not harangue folks for buying sooner than you ...

After 3 nights of waiting up I have decided that A. I dont need the items I have in my basket and B.I dont need the items in store that I was going to buy with the Gift Card my son gave me at Xmas as most of the items I was buying for pressies. Therefore I am off to Poundland tommorow instead and will keep my gift card for now.
Perhaps I will go to my cupboard and see if there are any nice things I can buy from myself at 75% off with pretend money.
