We have family in Northumberland and Newcastle, so know how different life is up there. I love the city but it can be too busy, too crowded and with this little one who needs a big field to run and run in!
Yes, money up there is usually minimum wage but then you have morrisons where we have sainsburys and asda where we have waitrose. We have got 1 morrisons, but it is too far for me. And you have B&M we only have poundland and 99p store. And those are recent!
I wouldn't worry about MR T the store, he has plenty of money, and a few more people claiming money back is not bad for his pocket. Out of all those who can, only a small percentage are.
As for your neighbourthat happened to me. where I lived before I was friends with the lady on the left, and she was best friends with my LLady. My Llady told all lies to her husband and neighbour about things we had agreed on, so when we moved out, she refused to talk to me. I still see her around but she ignores me. I tried to tell her my Llady told her lies but she wouldn't listen, so I gave up. She is not worth it. But it is a shame about your neighbour. Hopefully when Mrs F moves out, she will be ok again.
You are very busy! I am busy ironing. Have hung out a whole load of washing and am waiting for it to dry so can do more.0 -
Morrisons was a revelation to me when I first moved up here. The idea of a supermarket selling cheaper food, smaller portions etc was amazing - when I am not shopping online I always use the local Morrisons. In fact I bought a couple of plants from their new garden centre on Friday.
I hate it when people don't speak to me - I get one of my complex'sI really must learn to let things go .....
Ironing.... What's that?

I don't own a tumble dryer or have room for one... so that awful word ironing lives in my house...lol
the amount of people I know who don't own an iron! I am so jealous!0 -
I haven't got a tumble dryer and VERY rarely iron anything to be honest. I have got a set of cotton bedlinen that looks lovely freshly pressed but that is about it I am afraid. Life is just too short!

Morning everyone especially my mates.... you know who you are, especially scatty little sw - engaged yet?
Poor poor copperjar - my forum friend who got put up for redundancy, promoted in the reshuffle and then had the offer withdrawn after Union intervention. Isn't life horrid sometimes? I am sending her lots of virtual good thoughts and good luck today.
I had a lovely sleep last night - nearly 8 hours which must be some sort of record. The Fatty family are certainly a lot quieter in the flat (I hope it lasts) but MrsF is holding court on a daily basis in the park next to the house surrounded by her little friends. It does look a bit weird, a grown woman playing with a croud of 10 and 11 year olds all day long, screaming and shouting. Oh well, at least I can get on with life in my flat and she isn't washing and drying all day and night long.
MrT has broken a claw this morning on his walk and it is very sore. He did it before with a dew claw and the vets bill was £130 to cut it right back. I am going to leave him for a day or so to see if it heals itself. It doesn't seem too short but I will keep an eye on it. He will soon let me know if it is giving him too much trouble.
Closing day for applying for Olympics tickets. I just can't afford it but i would loved to have gone to see the 3 day event in Greenwich Park. Oh well, the TV will have to do. Badminton was won yesterday by Mark Todd, who is 55 years old! Big up for us oldies! And.... I was lucky enough (with my beloved horse that I used to have) , back in the day, to go on a course with him teaching and he was as fantastic a teacher as he was a competitor. He is a Kiwi, but I shall be supporting him in 2012, definitely.
Back to work today and quite looking forward to it. Just complaints about broken eggs and late deliveries, I expectI don't mind as long as we have a proper procedure in place as to how we handle them. That is probably my only criticism of when I first started. It was one rule one day and then a different one the following day. I can't work like that and told my manager exactly that and she and I typed up a new policy procedure file. I have to be careful - it is very difficult for me to keep my mouth shut sometimes but when you have been a Manager or Supervisor for most of your working life and can see that something is wrong you want to do something about it. Doesn't always go down too well though
Grey skies here this morning - are we in for rain? Still quite mild though and apparently the weather is going to brighten up again later in the week. Another 4 day weekend - crikey.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs

Should I post this, should I not? I am the first in line to grumble about how people can't do anything these days without looking over their shoulder at the PC crowd, blah de blah de blah ... however, I have also worked in an environment where we always had to be on the lookout for suspicious behaviour. And I am just wondering why an adult would want to hang out with children. Is it because that person has the mental age of an 11-year-old, did that person have a troubled childhood and is living it now through local children, does that person for some reason want to appear "cool" in front of the kids, or is there more of an ulterior motive, such as grooming?
Anyway, I am glad things are quieter with your downstairs neighbours. Hope you don't have to bribe them with choccie regularly to keep to this situation!
No complaints about broken choc eggs from me, seeing as I didn't get any. Big sigh. I understand about your frustrations with work, when you can see a better way of doing things. I have the same problem, but I don't keep quiet about it."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Wordsmith - you and I sing off the same hymn sheet - I thought long ago that her (MrsF's) behaviour was abnormal. I have mentioned before that she seems to "live" through her daughter but there is something else that just doesn't seem right. She also seems to act, react and speak like a child who has never grown up.
This may be wildly off the mark but I just wonder about her attraction to young boys - is she one of THOSE women, if you know what I mean? I will keep an eye on things, deifinitely.
Well, work was horrendous - the default date didn't kick in on our website and customers were allowed to order on Good Friday for delivery on Saturday - but we were closed  until this morning and we went back in to 450 orders!!!!! Only 90 of them were for Saturday delivery and we have emailed all of them and given compensation.
I stayed until 6pm helping my manager (what an a** kisser) and we seem to have got everything back on track except for a few wayward deliveries. Royal Mail causes a few problems - some deliveries seem to disappear into a black hole and we just have to resend them again.
Other than that, all is OK - MrT is not too troubled by the broken nail - I am sure I would know if he was
Not hanging around for too long - I am going to watch the footie on the tele - how feminineand eat beans on toast... I haven't eaten baked beans in months. Thank heavens I am single and MrT wont notice.
Speak soon

Yes, he will. And he won't be courteous enough to pretend he hasn't. But nor will he mind. Isn't sharing house space with a dog sooooo much more comfortable than sharing house space with a man?"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
You two are still making me laugh. Had a brilliant time in Edinburgh and Newcastle. Am still stalking Porge!!!!
