If WTC cannot help, then there may be some church charities that maybe able to assist. Let me know if you need details.
  • Well done! You got the job, stood up for yourself and kept ex at arm's length, what a fab triplet of achievements :)

Congratulations! Some companies will give you a sub for the first month or two (when you are coming off benefits) could you ask about that?

    I am employable, after all.

    Well, we all knew that.

Good on ya! You must be chuffed to bits. So, what will you be doing on a day-to-day basis? And do you think you'll like doing it? And how have you liked the people you've met so far? Have you told MrT yet? I have a hundred more questions, but will leave them at that for now!

I am so excited for you. I love new beginnings - even other people's.

  • Hi to you all and thankyou soooo much for all your messages. I was thrilled to see them all.
My training session was great - it was a taster of a course on how to be a Tenant Inspector and really interesting. I have signed up for the whole course which will begin in a few weeks time. It was held in a big conference centre and a group of us went in a taxi leaving our cars at the HA.
When I got back I met up with the head of Income Management and went through my tale of woe with him. One of my "qualities" is that I verge on being anal and had written everything out in a budget forecast even using different colour felt tip pens :o showing the upcoming shortfall in my finances. He was fantastic and just kept saying "No problem" and I ended up shedding a tear as I find it difficult when people are genuinely nice to me. He sympathised and said he knew exactly what I was going through as he had been out of a job for 4 years before his present post and owed the IR £28k  Anyway, we have agreed that I will pay them exactly what the HB pays me and nothing more until May when I get my second months wages from the new job. There will be a shortfall of about £200 as well as being 4 weeks in arrears, which is how HB is awarded. I am going to pay it back at £50 a month and he has promised that there will be no nasty letters or phone calls. I have got his direct line and he has said to phone him if I get any flak from anyone over it and he will sort it out. :)

So, that means that I will have a total of 3 weeks JSA to live on with a bit of survey cash and about £50 I have got in the bank - I should be OK. Thank heavens I have bought the freezer and it has got some food in it. Mr T has got plenty of food in as well.

My new job is working for the No1 chocolate firm.... doing admin and customer services, how lucky am I? There are only 3 of us in the office and the others seem really nice. The HR manager, who has interviewed me twice, is lovely and I have got good vibes about it.
I think MrT is going to be a bit put out without the Chief Entertainment Officer around all day to keep him amused but I will try and make it up to him when I get home.

The day is ending a shade more positive than it started. Now I can sign on and sign off on Friday and look forward to earning a crust rather than living on them! :D

    Hugs
