Say you're married for 40 years, your ring with diamonds would cost you £13.50 per year, or 3.7p per day.
Don't get yourself into debt over it, but you've got to wear it every day forever- you don't want to regret your choice in the years to come :)

Put that way .. its sounds much better!!:) Think the worse one is obviously OH's. I am thinking we should go with the platinum as it needs to be hard wearing, but I'm sure he will want a cheaper one. Also the groom doesn't get that much spent on them so maybe we should go for it. I have asked what he thought, but, of course, no response. I'll nag him when I get back.. if I have any voice left.

How's your cold tiara? Feeling better I hope.

My cold is ok thanks. Losing my voice today so sounding v husky, which my boss so kindly found hilarious! My nose is blocked now which is an improvement on streaming, so hopefully I'm working my way through the stages and will be well by the weekend! Hope you're feeling better soon too :)

Your oh's ring, is it a plain band or something more fancy? Just thinking if it is plain then it may be worth comparing with some other jewellers in case you can find something cheaper or on special offer. Platinum is expensive but I would want a diamond on it for £800!

No you don't need a licence. You either need to live in the parish of the church, have been christened there, or your parents need to be married there. If none of those apply then you need to have attened Sunday services regularly for 6 months in order to be married there- I'm sure the vicar would have been happy with you meeting that criteria or they wouldn't have agreed to have married you :)

You may need to go on a marriage course nearer the time, but not sure if this is for all churches or just ours!

We do seem to be running many things in parallel - including our colds. I seem to be in a similar stage as you. so fingers crossed for the weekend. I am now apparently sounding like a sea lion when I cough!! People are so kind. :rotfl:

Oh ring is plain...Not masively wide either. though it did really suit his finger better than a wider one. Yeah I guess his doesn't have to necessarily be made..... umm I'll sound him out later. Thats if I can still talk :) Though he'll be very happy if I can't he'll be :j, :T (thats clapping) and  if I really do lose the old voice. :rotfl:

I think they will be read in both churches, and there may be a small additional charge for that- may be worth checking with your vicar.

Your OH sounds just like mine, mine will be delighted at the thought of a bit of piece and quiet! :rotfl: I'm hoping he doesn't catch it though as no doubt it will develop into man flu, he is really not a very good patient!
