  • Anyone remember "Halls of the Things"? You were a little stickman running round corridors shooting blob monsters with fireballs and arrows and collecting little blue bottles and coloured rings.

AAAAAAARGH! I remember that, a friend recommended it, it cost all of £10 & It would have been great fun if it hadn't been far too easy to get killed & was imposssible to play*

*for me anyway, never did have very good reflexes & I guess that's why my favourite games are of the Lucas Arts point-&-click adventurey type

    Monkey Island anyone? :D

Chuckie Egg is available as freeware for the PC. I have it ans it plays more like the MSX one than the BBC one but still is good fun. If anyones interested I'll try and fins where I downloaded it from (or could email the zip file to install it)

    right back to sorcery +

man is this a diificult emulation to get working !!!!!!! but i have got it running at last ( although i,m still to find the fire key to start the damm game )

The Ape one won,t let me get to basic mode so i gave up with it and tried a simpler emulator. so here we go one step at a time

    download this Caprice emulator

    http://tacgr.emuunlim.com/emulators/emulators.php

scroll down to windows emulators and download the 1st caprice version 3.01 in zip file

unzip to somewhere you will easily find it again .....

load up the Caprice 32 emulator via icon where you unzipped it too by clicking

you should see a basic amstrad screen with flashing cursor.

now it gets complicated as you bascically have to load it the disk image of your game like you would of back when you had the old computer. refer to the read me file that you unzipped with the Caprice32 application if you get stuck or need to trouble shoot

copying and pasting from that read me file is the following

    LOADING GAMES

Start the emulator and hit F6 to open the file selector for CPC drive A.
Navigate to where you placed the DSK or the ZIP which contains it.
Highlight the desired file and click on OK. If you selected a ZIP and it
contained more than one DSK file, you now have to choose which one to
load. Once again, highlight an entry and click on OK. Back on the blue CPC
    screen, type

    CAT

to list the contents of the disk image. Two things can happen at this
point: a) either a bunch of names appears, or b) you get a "Drive A: read
fail" error message. Depending on what you got, follow the instructions in
    the corresponding paragraph below.

    a) locate the file with the smallest size and a .BAS, .BIN, or no
    extension. Now type

    RUN"filename

and hit Enter (you get the quotation marks with SHIFT+2). This should
get things going. However, sometimes the file you identified is not the
game's loader, and the RUN command results in a "BASIC 1.x" or "Memory
full" message. In that case, use CAT to locate a different file and try
    the same procedure again.

    **************************************************
here is how i did it

    press f6
    select the ...sorcerpf.... file

    type CAT

you get a whole list of files

type run"sorcery+" then enter (+ is where the @ is on my comp )

now wait and it will start to load up ......unbeliveably at the speed it would of all those years ago !!!! UNLESS you go to system menu and uncheck the the orginal speed option

I think the english file i got from you is corrupted but the french one IS OKAY

okay it is CTRL key to start but i have not figured out how to move ect ...a job for you (try activating number and caps lock if your stuck)

PHEW !!!! did i ever want to nail this once i started !!!!!

    good luck
