OK, have now downloaded it from this page...

    http://tacgr.emuunlim.com/downloads/filedetail.php?recid=830

    It has downloaded three icons:

    file_id.diz sorcerpe.dsk sorcerpf.dsk

I double clicked on the dsk icons and it says something along the lines of - 'Windows cannot open this program, windows needs to know what type of program created it blah blah blah'

Does this mean I'm going to be deprived of reliving my youth or is there a way I can get in?!

I think you need a emulator for the old Amstrad.

this is bascially just a windows program that emulates that old computer on your PC. the games file extension is almost certainly for one of these ( if not all) of these emulators.

the site you got the game download is down at the mo ( so i could not test) but has these emulators for your use

    http://tacgr.emuunlim.com/emulators/emulators.php

here is one i could download

    http://winape.emuunlim.com/ (free of course ;)

you want the download with the ape holding the comp above his head on the right. download it unzip it .click the ape logo exe ...... go to file and select the load options and select your socecry game file . i would try it for you but the site you download the game from in down at the mo. got burning rubber for free and played that though.

not a patch on the old ZX speccy game of Atic Atak which was the castle game referd to earlier .. now thats CLASSIC !!!!!! jet set willy , bomberman , great escape , and Knightlore where the all time greats !!!! Daley Thompson was a sure fire to Wreck your Kempston or rubber keyboard ....what fun we had !!!!

long live the generation of Speccy owners who invented GAMING on the comp !!!!

Thanks so much for that link...

I have downloaded the win ape thingy but when I click on file how do I select my sorcery game as it's not in the list of 'file' options? Tried clicking on the .dsk file thingy but still does that 'windows needs to know....'

I'm so close yet so far! Also have rather annoying music playing from the winape thing 'Burning Rubber'!

until that site gets it's downloads back up i cannot download any files to try it out for you.

however it must be one of the first four options when you click file . drive a drive b , tape ect . put cursor on any and click the insert option .....new window will open ....find your game and click it .....try all 3 .

if that does not work a different emulator maybe needed ( i,e from that site that is down)

if does work you will have to figure out the keys ( controls) to play unless your game download came with a read me file

i have also PM you so check your messages

Chuckie Egg is available as freeware for the PC. I have it ans it plays more like the MSX one than the BBC one but still is good fun. If anyones interested I'll try and fins where I downloaded it from (or could email the zip file to install it)

I owned one of the authors (Julian Gollop)other games 'chaos' on the speccy,he later went on to make the x-com series of games. His latest game is in the form of rebelstar/laser squad and you can download a demo as well as buy it from http://www.lasersquadnemesis.com/index_html..
