smelly pup every morning after nighttime 'accidents'

our cav pup is 9 weeks old and messes in her cage/crate at night, so each morning we clear out the paper, wash bedding and dryon the rads, wipe dogs feet with damp cloth but bless her she still stinks of poo! :(

What can we do to sto pthe smell, can we wash her yet? Heard mixed comments on not washing for a certain time because of natural oils, others say its ok to wash her, any advice greatly appreciated

If she smells of poo bath her and then avoid it happening again by not leaving her in her crate unless you are able to get her out before she needs to poo.

It is very distressing for a dog to have to sleep and poo in the same place.

Yes you can bath her in a mild dog shampoo, you will only strip the natural oils if you do this too often. So bath now and then don't let her mess in her crate again - lots of advice on your other thread how to go about that part.

    Good luck

about 7 hours, her last feed is about 6pm, 2 or 3 poo's in the evening then bed about 10 ish when we go up, not getting up in the night as she's downstairs and we're upstairs, should we set an alarm few times to get up for her? she whines 10 mins after we go up, im guessing because she misses us?

you are, and yes we did, and theres so many conflicting opinions on the net and amoung friends, some helpful, some negative and some downright insulting and embarrassing (embarressing for the poster, not me), so, as most open minded people im guessing its a lot of trial and error, se what works best.... and thats what we're hoping to do, with as little negative and insulting replies as possible

Thank you everyone who has helped :)

How do we get her out in time as her crate is

in the kitchen, we sleep upstairs in our bedroom, we didnt really want her in the bedroom in case she became used to it and then refused to sleep elsewhere... any ideas great recieved :)

At 9 weeks old she needs a meal later than 6pm for a little while longer otherwise she will be extremely hungry by the next morning and her hunger will wake her and distress her.

If you don't want to get up in the night and take her out to the toilet that is your choice. She's your dog. You will soon get used to pee and poo greeting you every morning. :)

Set your alarm for every 30 mins and go down and deal with her - THAT'S your option.

For god sake...she is only 9 weeks old, just away from her Mum and you are expecting her to settle and not crap in her crate every night.

And having her in the bedroom 'won't make her used to it'...but it will make her feel safe and secure and when she is a little older you can train her to sleep in a basket somewhere.

The poor thing must be terrified sitting in this big crate, all alone and probably getting moaned at in the morning.

    Is this a wind up?

Do her a favour and drop her at the local rescue place where someone who knows how hard it is to bring a puppy up but will do it properly.

She's hungry, she's lonely and she's lying in her own crap - and you wonder if 'she misses you'?
