libra, at the mo, if he isnt getting the reward of a walk then he wont want the collar put on him. Wait just a while until he can go out and then get one of the kids to walk along in front of him once you put on the collar and lead. He will soon associate the collar with something nice

But it isn't 'giving in'??? They are not lying there plotting anything, trying to get one up on you. You are simply tending to their needs.
I never understood the 'let them cry' brigade when I was bringing up my children but I do remember being a child and being upset and desperately wanting comfort.
Quite so sarabe - everyone tells you to leave them to cry but try as I could, I just couldnt see the sense in it at all. They are distressed, you are distressed, so whats the point of it. Id much rather cuddle a contented baby or puppy then hear them screaming - I really dont know how anyone can do that. But clearly they must or you wouldnt get told this over and over again when you are a new mum or pet owner. I didnt mean giving in to a plotting babe or pup, just going against this wonderful advice everyone gives you.0 -
Although there is a difference between an "I'm upset I really need someone" cry and a "I want some attention please because I'm not actually all that sleepy" cry. My baby tried that on us for a little while.
So we started shutting the door to the kitchen when we were washing up to try and get her used to being alone when we were in the house more. Built the time up and now she can't wait for us to leave the room....she gets the best spot when we aren't here! :rotfl: It was pretty obvious when I got over the "oh no...she's squeaking" thing that it was a totally different noise to the I'm upset one. You just have to learn to read them.
She's a clever thing this one though. Had a problem with her leg when she was a bit younger. She has since developed a condition where by if she gets caught doing something she doesn't think she should be doing....she limps towards you and for about 5 minutes afterwards. We must be nicer when she limps!!! Cheeky girl!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
