ARGH I knew things were going too well!
Been re-reading the emails from the car hire company and I spotted "Credit cards" as stuff I need to take with me to collect the car. So I asked as I read in the FAQ some cars require 2 credit cards. There had been no mention over the phone that this was a requirment, nor anywhere else in emails.
I got a reply from them to state indeed this is the case. I am fairly good with money and never had the need for more than 1 credit card (and even that has a limit of £2500 only!), and my other half has one just before we started looking for a house to help build up her credit history a bit... but they will only take them if they are in the same name!
I have just applied for one with my current bank, in the blind hope that they can get the paperwork turn around quickly and get the card to me by the 22nd, otherwise I will have to cancel.... only other hope is drop a few hints to my dad in the hope he will help, but its a lot to ask as its a £1500 deposit!! **goes to buy some beers**

Oh I really hope they pull through for you Splank!! I told MrD about your plans - ha more for me than for him :rotfl: and we both agreed it's a far better use of the money than hiring some normal wedding car for a few hours.0

Oh no SplanK, hope it all works out in time. As Mrs Drink says it is a great idea that you came up withMarried 29th Feb 2012 :beer:Determined to lose lbs and save £'s30 day shred started 4th June 2012 - Days completed 15 :eek:0

Well good news is my parents agreed in principle last night to help if my new card does not come through in time. Although thinking about it, I have several accounts with natwest, and after the first one, I never remember having to send anything off back to them when opening new ones so there maybe a chance of them just setting up my account and sending me the card! Fingers crossed but at least there looks like another way now!
Right, time to get all the little things and last minute tweaks sorted!
How are you lot coming on who have weddings this weekend which is a fair few of you! And for those who have already had theirs - how did it go?!0 -
I think we're more or less sorted.
Doing half a day today then taking my car for 3 new tyres (another expense I could have donw without this month:() then chuck all our stuff in the car and heading north to my parents.
We're having our final meet up and a quick photo shot with out photographer tomorrow. Taking all the decorations etc up to the venue, going to see our cake, girls are heading off to have our nails do and the boys are off to pick up the suits then see Star Wars in 3D on Thursday. Friday is going to be a chill out day and sorting any little details with hve forgetton before all the southern contingment turn up in the evening.
Phew and thats before we get married!
Starting to get nervous now its so close!
Good luck to everyone getting married over the next few days, hears to some good weather!Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
So, most of Feb's weddings (on here anyway) seem to have happened - hope it all went well!
I had a down then a bit of an up monent... this stupid car again. Parents have just realised that their 2nd credit card has been canceled due to inactivity, however I get a text message from Natwest to say my card is on its way - ARGH!!!
Had our last meeting yesterday with our venue and tied off the loose ends, only thing we have to do now really is the table numbers and rint out my speech on card, and thats it! Nothing else to be done now appart from meals the nights before!
One more extreamly busy day at work tomorrow then I am off until Wed the week after! Time really is flying!0 -
Oh SplanK glad to hear after all the ups and downs with the car that you have finally got it sorted. I decided last minute to go to the florists on Sat and order a boquet but now I think that is everything sorted. Can't believe how quickly it has flown by, a week on Wednesday!!
I finish work this Thursday and can't wait!!Married 29th Feb 2012 :beer:Determined to lose lbs and save £'s30 day shred started 4th June 2012 - Days completed 15 :eek:0 -
Things are landing right in place now!
Finished work yesterday, my new credit card came through yesterday so all go on the car, a number of very generous gifts have already started to come through the door, my parents have told us what they are doing for us gift wise... time has started to fly by.... at the moment it feels like a bit of a rollercoaster... and we are still going upwards. I think as soon as Thursday afternoon is here we will be at the top next will be the freefall drop of the day!
only thing thats still undecided is the weather - forcast keeps changing from been nice and sunny (but cool) to raining0
