Undercoverl angel, you could use some lighter fluid or soak the box in warm/hot soapy water for about 30 mins and it should be soft enough to come off with a sponge?

For those people who have 'professional' secret chocoholics to buy for
how about putting a variety of sweets and chocs into one of these boxes
    http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0173907
And label it very boring documents or old wage slips or something really dull so no one find the stash :)

    I LOVE that idea :D

Well I did my first "tool box" sweets today. Really pleased with how they look! It's for an 8 year old so I wanted somethings that were a bit off the wall! I stocked up just after halloween as I want to make my DS a Honeydukes hamper for his birthday which will be soon!
    DSC00400.jpgDSC00401.jpg
    Black container £1 Woolies (pre-sales!!!)
Sweets £2-3 Flying saucers, choc eyeballs, choc footballs, gummy eyeballs (Asda 10 for £1), snake eggs (M&S), snapping candy, halloween haribos
    Wind-up torch £3 Asda

The sweets were generally from supermarkets or Instore all either 3 for £1 or 2 for £1. I've kept some back for the honeydukes hamper for my DS and a toolbox for my DD!

I gave my brother a retro sweets based hamper for his 40th - he absolutely loved it said he hadn't seen many of the sweets since he was a kid. So it definitely works.... and is appreciated

That looks aboslutely fantastic and a torch too - really great pressie :D

  • Hi, after only stumbling upon this site last week I went on a mad hunt round every sweet shop I could find and a trip to IKEA. I managed to find a good clear plastic box cost £3.79 though but that included the lid and two removable dividers. The contents I bought from an oldfashioned sweet store and ASDA, Sainsbury's and Tesco and they could have cost more than £3 or £4 to fill this box not too bad considering I could have spent £25.00 on a box like one that was shown at the beginning. I will post a photo of the finished product as below:-

I have also managed to fill a whole IKEA jar full of retro sweets but have yet to upload a photo of that .. but I'm on the case. I have also filled mugs with chocolate bars and wrapped them a cellophane bag. I think they are great value gifts but not sure what post I could add pics of them to?? This definitely gave me something creative to do and I think my partner will love this! x:beer:

  • Apologies for some reason the reply I posted has not shown the pictures. I am going to try and find out what to do.
