I'd like to do a Jelly Bean one with different flavours of Jelly Beans in different compartments. Where is best place to buy a good assortment of nice quality jelly beans?
    Hiya:santa2:
Have you tried Asda, Tesco's or Sainsbury's(not sure if you have any of them near you?)?? I don't know how cheap or expensive they are but i remember seeing some in my local supermarkets.
    May be worth a try:confused:

You could buy a big tub from Whittards - there about £10 and sort them out into compartments
Or Asda sell Jelly Bean Factory ones for about £4 again youd have to sort them out though :)

Some woolworths stores have a jelly belly display stand with the flavours seperated out so you can pick what you want. There's also a stockist finder on the jelly belly site ( http://www.jellybelly-uk.com/pages/retailer/retailer.shtml ) - i imagine that might only show the ones with a proper stand rather than just little tubs?

Alternatively, Home Bargains do large tubs of 'Jelly Stones' for 99p which as far as anyone knows are Jelly Belly or a similar brand (certainly taste the same). They're basically the 'misshapes' - ones that are stuck together etc. But generally when I buy them they're about 50/50 misshapes and normal shaped beans :) And you can always eat the rest! ;)

Well I did my first "tool box" sweets today. Really pleased with how they look! It's for an 8 year old so I wanted somethings that were a bit off the wall! I stocked up just after halloween as I want to make my DS a Honeydukes hamper for his birthday which will be soon!
    DSC00400.jpgDSC00401.jpg
    Black container £1 Woolies (pre-sales!!!)
Sweets £2-3 Flying saucers, choc eyeballs, choc footballs, gummy eyeballs (Asda 10 for £1), snake eggs (M&S), snapping candy, halloween haribos
    Wind-up torch £3 Asda

The sweets were generally from supermarkets or Instore all either 3 for £1 or 2 for £1. I've kept some back for the honeydukes hamper for my DS and a toolbox for my DD!

I gave my brother a retro sweets based hamper for his 40th - he absolutely loved it said he hadn't seen many of the sweets since he was a kid. So it definitely works.... and is appreciated

I spent less than £7 even with the tin I put them in. Most of the supermarkets sell retro sweets at great prices... Hope that helps....

For those people who have 'professional' secret chocoholics to buy for
how about putting a variety of sweets and chocs into one of these boxes
    http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0173907
And label it very boring documents or old wage slips or something really dull so no one find the stash :)

  • I am having an absolute nightmare with the sticky label on the lid of the box!
I tried to peel it back, thinking I might be lucky and it come off in one..but oh no, it's leaving all sticky stuff  .

Whats the best way to get this off without scratching the surface of the lid?

    Thanks Everyone

Ps. I appear to have a ! on the top of my post, not sure why- I didn't mean for it to be there, sorry!

Try leaving a damp sponge or cloth over it for a few minutes to soften the label, this should make it easier to peel.

If you are left with a sticky residue try nail varnish remover or the petrol for re-filling petrol lighters on a piece of cotton wool.
