    Nextquestion - I have bought some quiches and frozen them, assuming they were ready to eat. As I've been getting everything else out ready to cook I saw there were cooking instructions. The package says "Eat hot or cold ready to eat". Does that mean I'm right - they don't need cooking? Lol who thought doing their own buffet would be easy? :rotfl:
    (So far I've cooked 12 pizzas, and 140 chicken dippers. Just got 250 sausage rolls and 96 veggie spring rolls to do :rotfl:)

    You are correct, they don't need cooking - the "cooking instructions" are just heating instructions in case you wished to serve them hot.

    Are you still feeling quite calm then Silaqui? I have been on quite an even keel, but I didn't sleep at all well last night, with irrelevant thoughts racing through my mind (should I avoid coloured drinks in case I spill them, who shall we give all the flowers to the day after the wedding, adaptor plugs for honeymoon...) I will try and tire myself out today for a good sleep - maybe practising our first dance!

    Yes I'm completely calm! I think the closer it gets, the less stressed I'm feeling - I think it's because I know if anything goes wrong now then I'll just have to get on with it - I work better like that! The only thing I'm nervous about is walking down the aisle and speaking in front of everyone - but I'd be nervous about doing something like that anyway so it isn't wedding related!

    Sooo exciting!!! I felt exactly the same - pretty much right up until I entered the ceremony room. Until then it'd just been another normal day, it was just a formality really, but boy did it hit me when I entered the room. Mmmm maybe I shouldn't be telling you all this - lol I don't want to be adding to your stress.
    (Also I'm so sorry for being very Mememememeeeeeee and talking far too much about our wedding... lol xx)

    Of course!! I cannot wait to collect the official ones. I've only seen ones my mum took - but they aren't worthy of sharing really (they're on FB so their web quality rather than photo quality).

    I love clingfilm too, used to get through rolls and rolls of it lol!

    Haha don't worry about talking about yours, it's useful to know all the tips! I think it will probably hit me then - or at least I kind of hope it will, otherwise I'll feel like a right heartless cow lol!

    Looking forward to seeing your photographs.

    I would say that they are ok to eat cold - the cooking instructions are probably just there to make sure you've heated them properly through if you do want them hot. Quiche is already cooked isn't it so if you were going to heat it up you'd need to make sure the egg was fully cooked through, not at a temperature that would allow bacteria to multiply. If you are leaving it chilled there's no danger of that.

    xx
    Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

    You guys really are great - see what mess I'd be if I didn't have you on tap to answer my questions. :D

    So far I'm actually doing quite well with the buffet (planning and preparation is the key). Tomorrow all I will have to do is make hundreds of sandwiches (lol) and then just get everything out of the fridges. I'm in two minds whether to freeze all my bread (now I've taken everything out of them that needs cooking), and then making the sandwiches with frozen bread so by the time everyone is eating them they'll have (hopefully) defrosted and will help keep them cold. What do you all think?

    Sad news - the CD isn't ready - but will go collect them tomorrow.

    So far from my list of jobs to do today:
    Put sign on fridge Done
    Receive delivery of chairs
    Tie ribbon 65cm and gerberas on the side of the chairs
    Receive delivery of tables
    Friend to visit
    Collect photos Doing tomorrow
    Mow lawns Hopefully doing tomorrow - it rained in the night so it's quite wet at the moment. It looks acceptable to be honest but we'd like it a bit shorter if people are going to be standing on it
    Put gazebos up Doing tomorrow - needs doing after the lawns have been mowed really
    Clean bathrooms/loos
    Receive Asda Delivery of fresh produce Done - and all put away - hurrah for 2 fridges!!
    Pop to morrisons to get last minute bits for buffet Doesn't need doing - Asda brought me everything I'd ordered
    Make buffet signs
    Cook frozen foods and put into fridges
    Put tablecloth & runner over the kitchen worktops
    Put sways of organza on kitchen work tops
    Sprinkle table confetti
    Put out platters/bowls
    Put the cutlery/plates out
    Move the kitchen drawers unit to the dining room Done
    Put Mr & Mrs spoon & fork out Done
    Put cake stand out Done
    Put bouquet next to cake stand Done
    Polish nails

    Organised as ever MrsDrink! Looking forward to seeing your pics later. :)

    Fake tan done, nails done - just lazing around while they dry. Insect repellant picked up, CD of music sent to videographer, changed guests in hotel rooms confirmed with venue.

    Still to do:
    • Pack for wedding weekend
    • pack for honeymoon
    • wrap parents' gifts
    • write everyone's cards
    • pick up mysterious package from parcel depot (came while oH was in shower and I was out - can only be picked up between 5pm and 6pm in the next city, were there is a big event on - grr!)
    • have facial tomorrow first thing, then set off to get married! :j

    I wouldn't freeze the bread. My technique is to layout a loaf on the worktop in facing pairs, using an offset palette knife butter the bread, making sure the butter (or mayo etc) is spread edge to edge (helps prevent the bread going soggy). Spoon filling onto every other slice (one half of facing pair) and then spread with palette knife. Meat or salad sandwiches are built in layers, one ingredient at a time. Put the facing slice on top, stack in pairs (four slices of bread/two rounds) cut and tray.
    It takes me around 4 minutes per loaf of bread this way. Sandwiches made in the evening and wrapped in clingfilm and kept in the fridge are fine the next day, the exceptions being webb lettuce and very wet fillings.

    ^ ^ Hi Alice (wxy), I have seen your blog and your dress is finished and looking great.

    Thank you for following my (very slow) progress! I was so pleased when it was finished (on the day when it was 50 days to go!) and am just hoping that everything will stay in place for next Sunday :rotfl:

    My parents are coming (from abroard) on Monday so I'll get mum to help me try it on again :D

    MrsD - I also think pre-cooking all your food is fine. The only thing that I would add is perhaps I would probably cook the quiche, not because you need to, but it would just make me feel better since it's been frozen, and I like them when they cheese has been melted again :T

    I'm feeling a bit less panicky now actually - having finally sorted the seating plan and things (we had a number of very flaky guests!) and I feel more in control (the flaky guests did drive me a bit mad!). Have a long list of things to do this weekend:
    Finalise background music for reception drinks and meal and put them on my mp3 player;
    Pick up more "exotic paper" from Hobbycraft and print menu, scroll;
    Put ribbons on order of service
    Put the final touches on BM dress;
    Sew veil to comb;
    Practise first dance;
    Practise putting on rings for each other (thanks MrsD)
    Start packing the overnight bag and for mini-moon?:j

    P.S I thought about uploading pictures of me in my dress when it was first completed (I was just too excited) but then decided to wait it out until after the wedding so I could share the professional pics :)
