    My dress fitting was good - my dress makes me look like I have a waist, the bigger modesty panel looks fine and there was no overspill. I have to say my feet were a little achey from just 40 mins standing in the shoes and the dress is not the most comfortable thing I've ever worn, but at least it looked good!

    My weekly weigh and measure says I'm a BMI of 25.2; I've lost four pounds total since January and 6 pounds of fat = around 4cm off my waist. It's not a great deal - I know some of you have made a lot more effort than me and lost a lot more, but as long as the dress looks good, I'm happy :).

    Great news about your dress fitting :D. And hurrah at your weight loss. Who cares if it's not oodles of pounds lost, you're on the verge of being 'healthy' so that clearly isn't needed anyway!! Hurrah at 4cm off your waist and your dress making that more obvious. I know I've said it before but I cannot wait to see all your professional photos!! :)

    When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!)The story: (are you sitting comfortably?) We met in 1999; neither of us wanted to get married or have children. But I had a hellish year at work (should have involved the unions - but I didn't I just rolled over) and I realised that he was such a rock. It was at that point that I first changed my mind. That was in 2005. At that time he was still of the 'who needs marriage' way. Over the next 5 years there was a lot of tears on my half, lots of 'discussions' and lots of disappointment. It came to a head during 2010, first he went to Finland snow mobiling with his friend, because he was coming back late on a school night his mum agreed to pick him up from the station. As a surprise I went along with her, and on the way we stopped at one of her aunt's house for a cuppa. It was just so lovely - I was made to feel like such a part of the family. Then in Feb 2010 we went to my uncle's 60th birthday and it was obvious that he was part of my family. So during half term we sat down and I told him it was unfair that he didn't want to marry me - it wasn't like we could compromise on it, and that I wanted to be a proper official part of his family. He eventually said something along the lines of "I want you to have my name too" and "I suppose we can look into it"... It was August that we actually agreed on the year (the date was always going to be 17th July)
    How long have you been planning the wedding? so following on from that we've been planning since August 2010.
    Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked?Place - our local registry office just for ease and to get the legal side of it done with minimal fuss. Date - the most important for me - we met on 17th July 1999, and are getting married on 17th July 2012. Now - ideally we would have married 17th July 2010 because that year the date also fell on the day we met - Saturday - but he wasn't 'ready' for it then.
    Are you getting married in a church or register office or venue? Registry office, and then back to ours for a BBQ for immediate family only; then on the Saturday 21st July the reception at our house again for the wider family and some friends.

    :rotfl: of course we don't mind talking about our weddings/engagement!

    Oh didn't say - we went out for a work's do last night - I trialed my make up and a quick version of my hair. Thought i'd test their longevity. both lasted really well. :D Even my lips stayed put (lots of drinking - squash lol). :) Very pleased - AND I was complimented on my make up :D Bring it on lol

    we got engaged on July 19th 2009 - three months after being together. It was a bit impulsive. We were in town and for some reason i can't really remember we were messing about looking at rings. Well we ended up buying one and saying "let's get married" ...we went back to his mum and dads and then he told them we were engaged but then went down on one knee to do it properly (in his pants (we had got soaked through) in front of his mum and dad i hasten to add! :rotfl:

    Booked the wedding April 2011 so been planning it since then. Date is special because I wanted to get married on my 30th (July 29th) However it falls on a Sunday so we are getting married the day before so I can say I fulfilled one little dream to be married before I was 30 :D

    We are getting married at a venue - Springkell House ... no special reason other than I was looking at the Gretna Green weddings and fell in love with it

    So far today I have:
    Varnished 2 window boards and the banister rail and newel posts.
    Put 1 load of washing on.
    Washed the walls in the hall (it's not a big hallway).

    After lunch (haven't decided what to have yet) I will:
    Put the 2nd coat of varnish on the above oak (which will finish that job off so I can cross it off the list of things to do) done
    Fill the nail holes in the lounge doorframe and arcatrivedone
    Prime said doorframe and arcatrivedone
    Put first coat of gloss on said doorframe and arcatrive.will do tomorrow

    Tomorrow's jobs so far:
    Put 2nd coat of gloss on said doorframe and arcatrive
    The rest will depend on whether it is raining or not.
    Not - get outside and dig holes for the new water pipe into the house/dig up the remaining weeds for the new patio
    Raining - Mmm haven't decided yet - *might* get some new carpets down so I might be an apprentice for MrD. done

    I cannot wait till this whole wedding lark is over so I can go back to having some spare time!! :)

    Hi

    SKS
    When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!) We got engaged on 16th Decenmber 2005, so have had a very long engagement! (didnt plan on it being that long but got a house etc and werent able to afford it any sooner). My proposal was after a lovely chat in bed one day, and he suddenly asked me, I dont think he had been planning it but it just seemed right
    How long have you been planning the wedding? Well we decided on our date and booked the venues 2 years before, but then actual main planning has been about 18 months (although there was times when I didnt do anything for a while)
    Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked? The date is because we wanted to go straight on honeymoon and oh has set leave (which was always the 1st 2 weeks of august so we booked our date, honeymoon etc and then they changed his leave to 2nd and 3rd week, but were ok about his leave), nothing else has any meaning really!!

    Well I went shopping with my Mum today, she now has a hat and bag so her outfit is complete! I cant believe she got a hat as she was adamant when we first told her we were getting married she wouldnt wear a hat but she saw one that is perfect with her outfit and she really liked it on!!

    Well I have my hen do tonight, Im quite excited!!

    * Washed the walls in the hall and 'extension' bedroom
    * Fill the nail holes in the lounge doorframe and arcatrive and prime

    Where are our make up gurus? I need some help!

    So I had a make up trial at bobbi brown this morning and I wasn't very impressed if I'm honest. I put a pic on fb group. She asked me what kind of look I was going for, and I said very minimal and light coverage as I never wear make up. Well, she used 11 products in total on me! I don't own 11 products myself! It didn't look too bad really, but I wouldn't use it as I didn't feel like me at all. I've only used mineral foundation before and this was liquid and I just didn't get on with it. I could feel it on my face and felt very conscious of it. I also wouldn't feel confident in myself to apply it properly. The mascara was rubbish too and ended up all under my eyes. I did like the eyeshaddow and eyeliner though so all was not lost! At least I didn't have to pay for the trial, and she was a lovely lady.

    So now I think I will just use the mineral foundation I already have (Clinique Superbalanced) or I might try and pop in to debenhams and try the Elizabeth Arden one that got recommended on the fb post and see how that compares.

    So I need to get:

    ~ eyeliner - I liked the bobbi brown gel one, and it lasted brilliantly, but quite pricey at £16.50!
    ~ blusher
    ~ eyeshaddow
    ~ mascara

    I think I will have to get a blusher from a counter so I can get a colour match or I'd have no idea what colour to go for on my own. Eyeshaddow will be easier, what are good (and well priced!) ones? I need to get a waterproof mascara too.

    I have some boots points so would quite like to buy brands I can get there, and I have a no7 voucher too if they are good for any of that ^ I think I remember someone mentioning their eye mousse?

    I'd also like to buy a proper brush to apply the mineral makeup. I use the one that came with the power atm as it's rare I use it but it doesn't do the best job. I don't want to just go for a cheap brush if they're rubbish as a brush will keep so any suggestions?

    Thank you make up gurus! :j:j

    Good morning all, grrr at the rain - was hoping to get outside to do some digging!! Just looked at the recoat time of the gloss - 16hrs!! So that isn't going to get finished today! Grrr!! So I think today's jobs will be to clean the window frames of the dining room and stair well windows, and then whatever MrD wants a hand with. There are still three big jobs to do - I suppose I could get started on giving the kitchen a bit of a spruce up (this requires pulling off some tiles from one wall to put onto another wall where some have blown off; a small bit of plaster work on one wall and a corner of the ceiling; painting the remaining walls, ceiling and the new plastered area; and just generally giving it a really good clean.
    Oh and I've also decided I'm going to treat us to some new duvet & pillow covers for our wedding day :D (Can't beat the feeling of new crisp sheets!!)

    SK - Sorry I can't help with make up advice. I only went to a MAC shop, and am going with a scaled down version of what they did. Although I am using a lot of products (13):
    * Face primer
    * Foundation
    * Eyeshadow primer
    * Three different shades of eyeshadow
    * A soft eye liner
    * Mascara
    * Eyebrow pencil
    * Blusher
    * Lip pencil
    * Lipstick
    * Lipgloss
    But I have been stocking up on these since last July so the outlay hasn't been as noticeable. And I do wear most of them every day anyway (or at least will do once I've stopped 'saving them for the wedding). I *think* I put a photo up on FB with my 2nd trial. I'll have one more trial for my hen do night the weekend before the wedding, and then it'll be the big day.

    I am starting to freak out how close the wedding is. Upstairs is nearly done (just got the doors to rehang and the door handles to change). Downstairs in the lounge/dining room/hall way we just need to paint the doorframe and then carpet. Then it's over to the kitchen (as mentioned above); the downstairs toilet; and the patio - which is never going to get done at this rate (sodding rain). Whilst we get married 3 weeks on Tuesday, it won't be the end of the world if we still have the odd little bit to do in the days between Tuesday and Saturday's reception. I might suggest MrD takes those days off to get stuff done and to help me decorate!!

    Well I have Asda coming today - with 12 thin crust pizzas. Ha I'm trying to buy the frozen foods in stages to make sure I don't overstock the freezers. I'm hoping I've got space for them. Yesterday I transferred all the BBQ meat into freezer bags and saved about a third of a 'drawer' space worth of packaging!!

    Mmm I'm rambling now aren't I? That's cause I woke up at silly o'clock thirsty; and MrD is still snoozing upstairs. Lazy sod. Doesn't he know there is work to be done! :rotfl:
