When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!) Valentines Day 2011 - Total surprise. He came into my office with flowers and got down on one knee with ring
How long have you been planning the wedding? 17 months total.
Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked? date purely because i work in a school and have to be in during the summer for exam results. theme is buttons because i fell in love with a button bouquet and made my own.
Are you getting married in a church or register office or venue? Register office
anything else you want to add, go for itbut I was wondering about these things earlier.. like how many others are having a register office wedding.
Smithkinson - I thnk you need the real gurus - FutureCooper and Silaqui - to answer your make up questions! I can recommend Rimmel's felt tip style liquid eyeliner, which I use and at about a fiver is a lot less than the bobbi brown one! Also Loreal perfection mascara is very good - no bits and no spideriness or flaking (suitable for sensitive eyes/contact lenses).
I love GOSH liquid liner best. It doesn't have a brush which can be fiddly if you don't know what your doing. Its a sponge tip and lasts well. You may get on better with brown colours rather than harsh black. Def stick to mineral foundation. Miu do a good one but its pricey and only in salons usually. I like Clinique though.StokieBecks wrote: »Anyone ever used nail decals? Are they any good and are they easy to use
I been looking at these on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wedding-Nail-Art-NEW-Wedding-Decals-10-20-Nail-Art-Water-Decals-Transfers-/220946190031?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Nails_Manicure_Pedicure_CA&hash=item33716b4ecf
My daughter has no nails and she uses these a lot. I find them fiddly to put on yourself but they look good when done properly. Superdrug sell some good ones.0 -
Got lots done this weekend as H2B has been away visiting his mum in hospital. She is still in HDU and still very poorly.
So i went to M&S and brought my honeymoon/travelling underwear. i plan to keep this secret and wear it the day after the wedding so when we travel to the airport my new husband knows what he's getting when he gets there!!! Its purple and ivory and is my exact wedding colours.
Also i have laced up some more jam jars, glued the menu choices into each guests place card and decoupage the table numbers (got daughters help as this was to messy for me!).
The sleeps list is rather scary and i'm at the end of July. I am trying to break jobs down into weekends left and there aren't many. I still have 2 hen nights/occassions to squeeze in yet.0 -
How exciting/scary at seeing the number of sleeps to go - 4 weeks today for me and ghostlove - I'd be happy with weather like this:)
Pinkprincess, the where's Wally sounded great fun. We went out dressed as pirates around the harbourside.
Pics please wanchai!
I'm ploughing through getting the bits for the BM's gifts - determined to get through this list of mine!
I'm getting them soon according to the photographer! The weather was fab, just perfect, we were so luckyPLEASE let it be just as nice on 14 July!!!
Ooh, let's see pics of your pirate hen!And yours Emma!

When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!)
15th July 2011
How long have you been planning the wedding?
less than a year as didnt book it straight away
Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked?
date - because we met on the 15th July so 14th was the closest we could get, (bloody leap year this year or the 15th would of been the sat)
Are you getting married in a church or register office or venue?
Train station as we like trains
anything else you want to add, go for itbut I was wondering about these things earlier.. like how many others are having a register office wedding.
im the most behind/unorganised bride on the thread
think that answers most of the questions. Hope everyone is well, Wally & pirates sound fun.
We went to the cash and carry and got the rest of the sweets, now think i may have gone slightly overboard!
Also whilst there i had a great idea of not doing normal puddings, but taking our small chest freezer to the venue the day before, filling it with tons of ice cream and then getting cones, wafers, sauces and chocs/sprinkles etc for puddings instead, what you all think???
cant believe how quick its going, next weekend im at a spa with my sis so it only leaves me the weekend of the 7/8th to get all the other stuff done!!! aahhh :eek:0 -
So if you don't want to freak out - close your eyes NOW!
(It's Wanchai's fault - she told me to do it - hahaaa)

When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!)
We got engaged on September 11 (I remember that because there was all the 911 stuff on telly) about 2 years ago now? So that would make it 2010.
We were at Alton Towers (I am a rollercoaster ADDICT!!) and we were on a rollercoaster when he asked me!
How long have you been planning the wedding?
I'm a bit sad and organised so we got all the big bits sorted straight away, then had ages with nothing, then got the rest of it done. So probably about 18 months.
Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked?
Cheapness lol and the fact we wanted to be traditional-ish but in a casual way. So we are marrying in church because it would be important to my grandparents - I don't really care either way but I wanted them to be happy so thought I might as well. Venue is a local pub that we like, but no speeches, first dance or any of that stuff.
Are you getting married in a church or register office or venue?
Church...
anything else you want to add, go for itbut I was wondering about these things earlier.. like how many others are having a register office wedding.
Oh - I have to actually write something of my own!
xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
Loving hearing everyone's details! I already knew some of it but not all
We got engaged last Christmas, and it was a total surprise. It was our daughters first christmas and OH had a calendar made for me with a photo of her from every month. On December 25th 2012 he wrote 'anniversary of our engagement', and when I read it he asked me.
Been planning since early January. Were originally planning for September 2013, with an outdoor festival style wedding in a local campsite with tipis, but then we just didn't want to spend the money and have the hassle, so we changed everything. Decided on July 21st in the second week of April, and booked it all then, so really THIS wedding has only been 3 months planning.
Chose the register office because it's really nice. It's in part of a manor house from the 14th century and is the oldest building in the country in use as a register office. It was super cheap too, but of course they put their prices up the week before we decided to book it haha. Chose the pub because it is our favourite place for food, and we were having a 'screw what they think' moment.
Thank you so much for all the make up tips everyone. I'm going to take a trip to boots tomorrow and see what I can get. I have a list on my phone of all the various things you've all suggestedWe had a big family lunch today so I did my make up again, just the mineral foundation and a bit of eyeliner - no concealer or anything - and I was pretty happy with it. I think I will need to use concealer to get a good enough look for photos but on the rest of it I was much happier than I was yesterday. So I'll get some more bits tomorrow and have another play. I decided to use one of my usual burts bees lip shimmers on my face on the day, so ordered a new one from cheap smells last night (another thanks for that recommendation!) and topcashback too

good morning everyone!
Well obviously it's not going to be 100% accurate but thought I'd share with you that accuweather's 'long range' weather forecast is currently taking us through to the 19th July. According to them it's going to rain where we live on our wedding day. Which I won't mind tooooo much if it means we can have sunshine for the reception.0
