July 2012 Brides and Grooms

Ooh, looking forward to seeing pics of your wedding bunting biscuitmad - I haven't started making mine yet!
MrsDrink - I'm totally on board with your rainy June theory - none left for July
My dress fitting was good - my dress makes me look like I have a waist, the bigger modesty panel looks fine and there was no overspill. I have to say my feet were a little achey from just 40 mins standing in the shoes and the dress is not the most comfortable thing I've ever worn, but at least it looked good!
My weekly weigh and measure says I'm a BMI of 25.2; I've lost four pounds total since January and 6 pounds of fat = around 4cm off my waist. It's not a great deal - I know some of you have made a lot more effort than me and lost a lot more, but as long as the dress looks good, I'm happy.
I managed to get the bits I needed to make my table plan too, just need to borrow a guillotine and a printer. To-do list for June down to 15 things - yay!:j0 -
Hey everyone, its Friday!!:j
And I have hen night number one tomorrow!!:j
And I have some fab nails!! :j (although I need to get used to them!!) Ill post a pic on facebook!!
Natalie- I hope your rain theory is right!!
Babyboots- so glad to hear your dress fitting went well.
Wanchai- how did the rehearsal go?0 -
Hi all
The rehearsal was great, I have officially started to freak out now though!!! It all seems to be coming at us in a rush, I was standing on the altar thinking 'we will be doing this for REAL in 22 days' time'!!! Which is no time at all!:eek::eek::eek::eek:biscuitmad wrote: »Do u have contact details please??
My sons school have just rejected his leave request for 2 and 1/2 days (day before the wedding and 1 and a half after - they break up a 1 o'clock for the school holidays) so he will be unauthorised absence!!!! I'm so annoyed as he hasn't had any other time off except a couple of days sick!
Spent last night making bunting for the wedding will post a pic when complete.
Ahhhh, can't wait to see your bunting biscuitmad!!!! :j Is it tricky to make?
Shame about your son's school, that's really harsh.
3 weeks tomorrow for us whooooop!!!!My theory is June is going to be a wash out, and then when the sky has no more rain left to come down July'll come and it'll be gorgeous for all our weddings.... at least that's what I'm hoping. There is just no way we can fit 45 of us in our little house if it's raining!!
Quickie - here's my food for today (if I write it now it might stop me from indulging tonight):
B - usual
L - cockaleekie soup (surprise)
T - tuna pasta bake (with slightly more pasta than I'd normally have - but I'm eating it ridiculously early as we're off out tonight and I want to try to stay full all night)
S - 1 hotel chocolat choc when I get in
I like your theory Natalie, and I think the same!July will be glorious!!!! :T

Hurrah and double hurrah for your fitting!!!! I'm so chuffed for youAnd 4cm off your waist is very significant, you must have been toning up as well. Good going! :j

ooh haven't we been quiet today?
I took all of the forms and CD etc to the register office so hopefully they will all be approved. We are asking for something a little different so I hope they get back to be quickly.
Natalie - I hope your rain theory is right too, but I hope it starts firmly on July 1st as that's probably our last shot at an engagement session!!
BabyBoots - hope this isn't a silly question but what is a modesty panel? I've seen a couple of our brides mention them but I have no idea!0 -
I meant to ask that too! Is it a piece of material to cover a low cut neckline? xx
Yay Emma, well done you! What are you having? And why does it need to be approved?7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Ha ha - no, a modesty panel is when you have a lace up back - it's the flap underneath the laces, so you don't see any skin between the two sides being laced up!
wanchai - all civil ceremonies have to have the music approved, to check there is no religious (or otherwise inappropriate) content. I guess anything that detracted from the seriousness of the occasion. I haven't heard anything refused on these grounds though - maybe doing the birdie song coming down the aisle would do it? Pie Jesu is definitely out. I'm sure yours will be fine, smithkinson.
Funnily enough, OH and are are just listening to all our ceremony prelude music through, to check it sounds good before we burn the CD. I did put the two ceremony CDs and the wedding breakfast CD on my list as one 'to-do' item though, so no more ticking off :rotfl:0 -

We met the band member (who's a good friend) tonight to discuss our play list. H2b and mate got drunk! We can't decide on a first dance song so in there drunken state they decided the band can choose!!!!!! We will have no idea and we just have to go along with it and smooch away. H2b thinks its the best thing ever and I'm left sat shaking my head. One thing I let him choose and sort, one thing!! And this is how it turns out hahaha. X0

Yay Emma, well done you! What are you having? And why does it need to be approved?
Did you mean me?
I'm not worried about our music, it's all fine content wise, but we have asked for one 'off book' reading which has to be approved (they gave us a book with 25 readings in to choose from, and they were all pants) but I think that will be fine too, and we've asked to do a ring warming ceremony which is the part I think they may not like - not that there's anything wrong with it but still!
OH so that's what a modesty panel is! That makes total sense nowI just have a zip so haven't had to learn that term

Oh, I was randomly thinking earlier, because I was a bit of a latecomer I missed the early getting to know you posts I guess.. so I'm interested.. here's some questions if anyone fancies answering
When did you get engaged? (tell me the story if you want!!)
How long have you been planning the wedding?
Any special reasons for any of the things (place, date, theme, anything!) you've picked?
Are you getting married in a church or register office or venue?
anything else you want to add, go for itbut I was wondering about these things earlier.. like how many others are having a register office wedding.
