wanchai - oh no that's a shame. have they given you a reason for dropping out? I'm sad because there's only 3 blood relatives of mine going to be there, my daughter, my mum and my dad!

jemb - I'd like to see! I made one for ours too but it's not that great haha

Off to the island tomorrow for my hair/makeup trial... hoping it's going to be a little drier than today. Had to email MUA over weekend to find out how she wanted my hair... needs to be in in's natural state (so washing it again tonight to let it do it's random thing overnight).

Off wedding, ran the village summer ball to fundraise for Scouts, we managed to raise £1100... thought it was pretty good for our first attempt, probably doing the same again next year!

Just tried to pay the registrar - there's no-one in the office... looks like the money will stay in my account a little longer :)

    All RVSPs now accounted for:
    Invited: 30
    Yes: 24
    No: 6
Not too bad really considering we're asking people to travel.

I am flying through stuff today! Got lots in my eBay basket, think I'm almost done. Just need to buy and pay for them.

Went to £land and got more sweets at lunchtime, also popped into the local fabric shop and got some GORGEOUS lace for the cake. Yay!

Yes, and not very good reasons tbh. The two that I'm most disappointed about are close friends - No. 1 says that she can't get the day off and No. 2 that she can't make it home from England. Er, No. 1 has known the date for 10 MONTHS !!!!!!! And No.2 - ditto! Flights are v. cheap when you book in advance :( She came home to 2 other friends' weddings last year so I am very hurt.

Michelle - good luck with the trial!

jemb - I'd love to see it :)

p.s. can anyone help me out with my promise book? Am trying to think of some nice (and funny) promises and am stuck after writing about 10 lol.

I haven't posted much over the weekend but i have been getting on with wedding things. I made a start on decorating the jars and tins with ribbon or lace yesterday. My daughter has made another batch of wine charms for the evening guests. So i need to purchase a nice jar or bowl to put them in now for people to help themselves. I think a bowl would be more practical so guests can sift through them.

Wanchai - what kind of things have you got so far as your promises? Its a great idea - i might borrow it :rotfl:

You know that saying it never rains but it pours - well that sums up life in our household this last week or so :o.
    • Number 1, MIL still on the high dependency ward and has caught an infection which is attacking the new pacemaker! So H2B gets in the car for the 250 mile round trip yesterday only to have a tyre shred 50 miles from home and no spare. (Mini's have run flats and no spares) He limps the car back home at 30mph and its going to cost £300 for 2 new run flats or he has to have a full4 set of normal tyres at £350. Needless to say he didn't get down in time for afternoon visiting.
    • Number 2, My son's gf of 3 and a half years told me on Saturday night that she can't make the wedding after all! Shes going on a family holiday (her parents and family were evening guests too) that has been planned for sometime it seems, she didn't tell me as she hoped she could fly out and join them the next day but this is not possible now. So i have lost another day guest. We are now on our minimum with the venue and if MIL decides she doesn't want to travel after being so poorly then we are right up the creek!
    • Number 3, DD lost her apprenticeship placement last week. Very good news though is she got straight out there and dropped her CV off to every salon in the area and starts a new job tomorrow! :T
    • Number 4, i stuffed my face all week between tears and gained the 1lb i lost.
So this week can only get better.

OMG Mel, you poor things. Massive hugs and good wishes coming your way xxx

    So far I have:

I promise... (written on the front)

to give you a kiss every night before bed
to try to make you smile if you're feeling sad
never to let the beer box get empty - I'll remind you to get some more :)
to thank you when you've done something nice for me
to buy you an ice cream if you've been good :)
to try to make you laugh if we're arguing
to try not to take it out on you if I'm in a bad mood
to nurse you and bring you tea if you're feeling ill
to be nice to you AT ALL TIMES

Nice list so far Wanchai - how about a simple something that involves saying I LOVE YOU every day? or maybe a promise to say Sorry IF you are ever in the wrong, although being a woman means we are very rarely wrong!
