Wanchai thanks for the welcome. I have just acquired an extra bridesmaid so need to sort out her dress.

Have spoken to the florist this morning so need to pay for that but *think* / *hope* after tgat I am as good as sorted. I am just waiting for a few alterations to be finished on my dress and a final fitting.

We are getting married at Springkell House in Scotland and then having a party the week after for family and friends who aren't travelling (i get to wear my wedding dress again)

    Am excited and nervous now.

How annoying about the prices wanchai! I'm trying to get everything in writing as far as possible. I haven't had the details we discussed with the venue last week confirmed in writing yet, so will need to chase that.

I've had a frustrating morning of wedmin. (Mini rant coming.) Why are the silly little details disproportionately time-consuming?

We wanted to buy purple folded place cards from hobbycraft last week, but the store only had half the number we need. They said order by phone from the store and we can collect them. Today they said it'll take 6-8 weeks "or longer" for them to arrive- not helpful. They said ring another branch who can collect stocks from various stores and post you the right number. They then spent 5 minutes with me on hold, trying to find the number for that store. They said they didn't know it and would ring me back (they didn't).

I found the number myself online and rang it. Cue endless loop of which number option would you like from 1 to 5 - whichever one you pick rings for a minute, then loops you back to the number options. Tried this several times for half an hour. Eventually someone picks up and tells me no, they can't order them for me, or collect stock from other stores. I said the other store said they could. They're looking into it and will call me back..... All I want is some tiny bits of folded blessed card that cost 29p!

However, just as I was getting annoyed at how hard it is to cross one thing of my now 22-item to-do list for the month, some mail arrived.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo! A letter from Mr Taxman, saying he is about to write me another cheque! :j That's two in the space of two months, having never received one before. :D And I'm thinking, add those two cheques together, maybe there's no need for a lottery win after all, Mr Taxman seems to be whispering "videographer" to me.....

i can hear that whisper too . . . it is definitely saying 'videographer' :rotfl:

Have you thought about getting the table cards made elsewhere? My first order of invites came from a stationers and they gated folded the card and cut to size for me. Worked out just as a cheap as pre paid. Usually print shops offer the service of folding card etc. Just a thought.

I have just popped out of the office to the local ribbon shop and brought some pretty laces of varying designs for my jam jars. Going to make a start on those this weekend. Wanchai any pics on how yours are looking??

Hello StokieBecks, and welcome to the thread. Does that make your big day Sunday 29 July? If so, it's exactly one week after mine.

:TCongratulations on being nearly being as good as sorted - I'll be pleased to get to that stage!

TOhhh six weeks two days then. The 28th July is the wedding, my 30th birthday on 29th and then the party 4th august

It is all very real now. we have been told we can pick our schedule up after 21st July. We are all legal :D

The meal after the wedding has been confirmed and paid for. Glad we are having a small gathering on the wedding day, that is expensive enough.

We have decided that as we are travelling to scotland and have to pick up the schedule we are going to go up on Thursday 26th and stay in carlisle for the night. Then we can quickly pick up the schedule on 27th without worrying about the time.

Every one we have had to deal with has been so lovely. Hope everyone's big days are perfect

Just been to the craft shop to get a few more supplies, argh these little bits are really adding up! lol

Also bought a FAB wooden pot stand reduced to £30 in TK Maxx - couln't resist!!! The florist can put jars of flowers in it at the wedding and then we can have it for our garden when we finally get around to buying a house :D

Yay!!!!!!!!! Book the videographer, go on! :j:j:j

Bummer about the cards, I second Mel's suggestion xxx

I know, we should have emailed straight after the initial meeting to say 'as discussed etc' so that we'd have a written record. It's costing us a fair bit extra, we can't afford to offer a choice of mains now. :( Are any of you offering a choice?

I will pop some pics of mine up at the weekend, promise xx
