I don't think there is any problem with having more than one trial in a day. I would leave as much time though in between so you can 'wear' the trial for a period of time so you can get a better feel for how it feels, lasts etc. I would probably take some wet wipes and remove/comb out the previous trial so each one is a fresh canvas so to speak.
Fantastic news about more discount!! :)

Emma (& Mel) - it's the certificate that is awarded so many days after you give notice to marry. If you are getting married in the same registry office you gave notice in (or I guess by the same register in a different location) it is produced and kept by the registry office. I know ours created ours (probably ticked a box on a computer) after so many days of our notice being public but as we're getting married there they just kept it.

If you're getting married at the register office where you live, I think when you gave your notice the authority certificate automatically went to the right people. We're getting married in a different town, so we had to give notice in the town we live in and then give the authority certificate to the register office we're actually marrying in.
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

I would say 2 trials is ok, but I would leave some space between then, because with your make up you want to check that it will last a reasonable amount of time. Do have a preference as to which one you prefer (ie from communication, photos etc)? If so I would book them in for the later one to make sure it would last the evening.

We have decided on our table seating- I just need to make a plan, that and the place cards is the one thing Im not looking forward to, but cant justify paying someone quite a lot to make them for me!

:j On making some decisions on your table plan Mel.

Well I just saw an ideal card for Best Man (have cards for bridesmaids and flowergirl), but I cannot justify spending over £2.70 just on postage, bringing it to over £5! Especially as the other cards for all 3 cost me about £1.50 due to finding codes, recommending a friend etc!

I've got the second salon calling me tomorrow, so I'll have a chat with them, though the first one I spoke to today sounds lovely.

    I'm so indecisive today!

Just need to work out a list of what photos we'd like during the day.

Just remembered that OH nearly has a complete outfit, he's just twittering about a shirt now, he wants cotton not polyester.... but at least we've found a hat we're both happy with - he lives in basball caps (they're usually dirty), and ends up with really bad headaches if he gets too much sun on his face, so he wanted a hat for the wedding.

Emma - the one I spoke with this morning has given me a 6.30pm appointment (hence panic at work today on whether I'll actually be awake for work the following day) as it's about 90 min drive to Portsmouth from Aylesbury for the ferry to the island.

I'm near portsmouth too! (actually nearer chichester but still)

MrsDrink - I'm having my reception in a village hall so got a ton of decorating to do! so far thinking of making bunting and those big tissue paper pom poms.

For favours, I'm going to make little cotton bags from my material scraps and tied with ribbon. Can't decide what to put in them yet though.

I've got 3 weeks off before the wedding to do all this stuff btw.

quaveriw - I think it sounds best you do both trials in one day - we're all starting to feel like we don't have many free days left to organise things, and it's along trip for you.

FutureCooper - glad you're enjoying the pre-wedding buzz. Now when I think of the ceremony, music and my dress and flowers I really smile :).

The authority to marry - our local registrar sent ours directly to the registrar where we're marrying, so we haven't had to fetch it.

You all sound like you're nearly finished with the preparations - I still have a fair bit to do before I get round to making a table plan or thinking about a card for the best man! (just added buy best man/ushers/bridesmaids card to the to-do list!)

We're just waiting on the last few RSVPs now. I spoke to my BM tonight and she told me her plans for the hen do. Or at least part of it is a surprise! She also said she'll drive down from Scotland for the wedding, so she can drive me to the venue. She's going to put a ribbon on the car too - aw! I was kind of worrying/wondering how I'd get there - didn't want to drive myself, so very pleased:T

Thanks for all your thoughts girls, if I hear from the second salon today and they can do an afternoon appointment I'll do both. The one I've got an appointment with me called today and felt a little guilty that I'm travelling all the way from Aylesbury for the evening, I said no worries as it's reasonably quiet that week before the it goes mad with assessment boards, and I'm quite happy to take a day off, plus I can take my sister to have a look at the venue and think of some ideas on where I can have some photos taken!

My mum can't get the day off, but my sister and my little niece are both going to come with me.

I've been asked about my hen-do, to be honest I have actually run out of time! I look at the diary yesterday and realised that the only weekend I'm not doing Scouts, working or doing a concert is the 9/10 June..... why oh why do I do so much, I enjoy it all really!

Hi all! Wow, it's been chatty in here!!! :D:D:D
Hey everyone- what a lovely day!:D

Ive spent the day chilling in my sisters garden, keeping regularly topped up with suncream, and have definately got a bit of sun! I was careful though and made sure I had a strapless top! I do tan quite easily so Im hoping we have the odd bit of sun every now and then so I can just get a bit of colour, and get my skin exposed a bit so I dont burn as soon as we get to Turkey!!

Im amazed- Ive worn a strapless bra all day and its actually been really comfy, the lady doing my alterations said I should go braless but Im not sure yet, at least if I know I can be comfy in a strapless bra all day.

Wanchai- Im not sure I would use her, was she recommended to you? If so I would be tempted to give her another chance, if she wasnt I would find someone else.

She was recommended by another (really really good) MUA! Who's not available on my date, before you ask! :rotfl:

Glad that the strapless bra is comfy on you, and yay for your tan! :T I am still trying to live down the shame of my sunburnt back - my friend put Lancaster tan maximiser on it so let's see if it goes brown!

Wanchai - did you tell your make up artist you weren't keen on it at the time? I told mine straight which bits I didn't like, and she rubbed them off and did it again until I was happy. It's one of those things where you can picture it, but it's hard to articulate to someone else - have you ever played that game where you have to tell someone else what to draw, but you can't draw anything? Mind you, my MUA said pick a picture you like out of this book - I picked one wearing barely any eyeshadow, and she slathered it on me...

Anyway, if it's the colour she used or how much she put on, it might be worth a second trial. If you think her kit is no good, you could either take along particular bits you want her to use, or cut your losses and find someone else. I think I'll take my own mascara, which is good for contact lenses because it has no 'bits.' Just make sure you're happy with who you have booked for the day - you don't want to be worrying about it.

I really must stop these epic catch-up posts!

I did tell her that I didn't like it, in fact I told her as politely as I could that it was absolutely awful. It was better when she redid it, but still not great. I like your suggestion about buying the stuff for her to use, but it would work out way too dear. The reason for using a MUA is that THEY have everything! Sigh.

I emailed her on Sunday about it and she hasn't even had the courtesy to reply yet. :( I've already emailed some other MUAs to see if they're available on my date.

OK, will post a pic on our FB page now so that you can all see the first and second attempts that she made!! Just so that you can all see how VERY horrid the first one was. :rotfl: Let me know what you think xx
