  • Can I join in the July wedding planning?

Our wedding is on Sunday 22 July, hopefully outside if the weather is fine! It will be a fairly small wedding in the Cotswolds, and most of our guests are travelling a long distance. I have a Maggie Sottero Christina sample dress I bought in the sale(which I only fit into with the lace ups very widely laced) and got a very MSE discount by haggling on the wedding rings yesterday.

We have no plans yet for colours, flowers, decorations, invitations etc, bridesmaids' and men's outfits, no florist, photographer or entertainment booked. Ooh, lots to do in 6 months!

Reading a few of the recent posts you seem like an organised bunch, so it will be nice to see how you're getting on with your plans over the next 6 months.

MrsDrink - I'll join the 'eating crap' club, I've been VERY bad the last few days. :( Think it's the bad weather and dark evenings, I always hibernate in winter.

Hello BabyBoots, oh, a Cotswold wedding would be amazing! Any idea of the style of wedding you would like? :)

    Just one word: shattered.

Been a long week - think I might go put my PJs on, grab a yoghurt and watch some trashy TV.

Welcome BB I have added you to the list. When I'm feeling more human like I'll say hi properly.

welcome babyboots. We are a very chatty bunch, and some of us are a bit OCD when it comes to the wedding planning (just a warning :p)

I can't remember if I showed you pictures of the favours we have having. My Mum decided she wanted something nice for the women so they are getting one of below each, and the men are getting some sweets, so far they have some personalised love hearts.

Pick up my new car tomorrow. A little worried about driving it as it is much bigger than the car I have at the moment. xx

Hello everyone and new people :)

Well I am very chuffed with myself because I am now 7lbs lighter than I was 2 weeks ago  I have worked bleddy hard for it though but feeling so much better! Come on Natalie and Pearly, if I can do it you can both certainly keep yourselves on the wagon! Think of those beautiful dresses :D

Going out for a curry later though, any idea on the healthiest options lol :p

Those favours are pretty Tracey, are they hand made or bought in? I don't think I'm going to bother with favours, we are not having a seating plan so I don't think it would really make sense somehow? I might buy some retro sweets and stick a bowl on each table for people to dip into. I'll see how flush I'm feeling!

Right just off to get go and get some money out then get going out, gonna have a few drinks first and I'm definitely ready for vodka!

    xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

Well done on losing the weight. As you guys are losing it I am gaining it. Have put on 2 1/2 stone so far. Hopefully will not put on much more and hopefully will lose it quite quickly

They were brought off of ebay and arrived this morning. My Mum paid £75 for 50 of them. She fell in love with them, I like them too but was happy with sweets, and considering we had budgeted £100 for favours and children already sorted and only about 30 men to buy sweets for, it should only take us just over the budget.
I also think she likes it as I mentioned taking one to each of my Nans graves (my Mums Mum passed away in Oct) and she got all teary and thought it was lovely I still wanted to share my day with them xx
  • Hey everyone

    Welcome baby boots.

Tracey- I love those favours. They are lovely. Im not having favours- Im using the money I would have spent on favours on my sweetie buffet.

Well done on the weight loss Mel- your doing fab! Im trying not to feel dispondant (sp?) at my weight maintaining! I guess at least I am maintaining and not gaining but ive stayed the same for the last 2 weigh ins. I was saying to my friend earlier as long as I get toned and fit ill be ok, so im going to get my tape measure out as Im sure i may have lost an inch as I do feel a bit less flabby!!:rotfl:
  • Hello ladies,

I'm back after not posting or wedding planning for about a year!! But with 6 months and 1 day to go I thought I had better get a move on. Had a quick catch up and it sounds like you are all doing well. Glad I'm not the only one trying to shift weight. Have been doing the gym since last April and have discovered the iphone app that counts your calories which I love! My dress is waiting in the shop, all made and one size smaller than me-that should definitely be an incentive!
Wrote my to do list and there was a lot more than I thought there would be. The thing I most want to get sorted is the bridesmaid dresses. Any advice on this? I am torn between the online stores and buying from my dress shop. Seem to be a lot of good and bad reviews for the online ones but the shop will be at least 200 each although hopefully with a discount. I was surprised that even the debenhams, coast, monsoon etc ones were £170 plus! What are you all doing?

  • Welcome back Jellybean.

I got bridesmaid dresses from very, but mainly because I really like them (although I have the odd wobble) and because they were a bargain. Have you asked a dress maker how much they could make them for? I know when my friend enquired about getting bridesmaid dresses made it wasnt as much as I thought it would be (im sure it would work out less that £200 each). What is your colour? what kind of style were you after?

Good luck on the weight loss.
