:rotfl: Yep! I flaked out last night. After our run, and tea, we went to MrD's parents - was there way past my bed time (I aim to be asleep for 10:30 on a school night). I'm still half asleep now - it's going to be one of those 'never quite waking up' days!! Early night for me tonight me thinks!!

Fantastic news!! And brilliant that it still zipped up. Cannot wait to see proper photos of you in it!! (You do realise that eventually you are going to have to share your wedding photos with us don't you? Even if it's done via pm?!) :D

Fab!! Come on share a piccie of your Bridesmaid's dress!! And wow what a bargain for KG shoes!! :D With savings like that you can afford to have a more expensive dress for you!

Oh wow you have been busy!! I think I've planned to do this over Easter with MrD. I really like the Hands poem that Emma shared with us ages ago,so I'd really like that one. And to go with it I'd like a poem/reading about what love/marriage is, but have yet to find one that ticks all the right boxes and isn't just a rehash of the Hands poem. What does your OH think to your chosen readings and prayers?

AND I had a chat with a wedding stationery person... their design are FAB but the prices they're quoting are a bit scary tbh! How much are you all spending on your stationery? Is it acceptable to hand deliver what you can to save on postage????
Think I've already written this but we basically spent £75.42 on 25 invites and 25 thank you cards. (That includes everything from the purchase of my craft knife, through to postage). And yep I'm hand delivering all of MrD's side. Well I'm giving them to his mum to pass out to the family when she sees them. Because of the design of the invite (with the ribbon bow) I'd have to buy large stamps instead of regular ones which seriously increases the cost!

That's more like it. :) We've been quoted £170 for 65 invitations alone! Then there'll be OOS, RSVPs, menus etc. No way! How did you do the actual printing on your invites?

Here are the readings that we're having - probably a bit boring compared to some of yours :o We can't be 'creative' as it's a church ceremony but I'm going to copy some of the poems/readings/quotes that I've seen on here into a book for OH :):

    Ruth 1:16-17
Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, and where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.

Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may the Lord do to me, and worse, if anything but death parts you and me.

    I Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

    Gospel: The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall have mercy shown them. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are those who suffer persecution, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

I don't think OH is that bothered about the readings/prayers tbh, he's not that religious (although he's baptised etc). He is getting married in church because he knows how much it means to me, which is lovely of him. But I do wish that he would take more of an interest... :o

OK, here's the BM dress: http://www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/6613/ It's way nicer IRL - the bodice is fitted with a sheer chiffon overlay. The neckline can be adjusted - am going to get it pulled right out to the shoulders and stitched in place. The back has a slit down to the bra-line. It is STUNNING. The sample was in Regalia but I like the Suede Rose, would be lovely and vintagey.

What colours do you all like?

Wow, stationery shopping too . . . . busy girl. I reckon its the turn of 2012 that has spurred you on. I think we have all gulped and thought OMG we are actually getting married this year.

Once you start some of the big stuff like dresses and stationery then everything just falls in to place, imo.

I am making my own invites and i have spent about £30.00 to date (20 day and 40 evening) on the card, rolls of handmade paper, sparkly card and envelopes. I have not cost in glue, ribbon or buttons as i had all these from other projects. I shall hand deliver what i can locally but majority will go in the post. I am worried that they might get lost though and how would you know?!!!

    *SNIP*

What colours do you all like?

I did the printing for our invites on my (good) inkjet printer at home. I printed onto good quality white card, printing 8 'inserts' to a page, and then just cut and stuck them onto the rest of the invite.

Suede Rose is a lovely colour!! :D

Yes, that was it I think! I just thought OMG, I have 27 WEEKS till the wedding, better get a move on! :rotfl:

Thanks for your kind comments :)

Ooooh, that's an excellent excuse for me hand delivering most of the invitations - 'I was worried that they'd get lost in the post'. :rotfl:To hell with etiquette!

Wow, well done you. :T We don't even have a printer - not that I'd be confident with the fonts, designs etc.

Thanks for the feedback too :) I do love it. It's such a gorgeous, elegant, flattering dress and my BM loves it. :D

Now, off to work on my 'to do' list... :D

So... after doing NOTHING weddingy for 2 whole weeks....

I ORDERED MY DRESS!!! Whooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j I went with the shop dress in the end as I am too scaredy-cat to go to the dressmaker. I love it to bits and am so glad that I chose it. I'll get the estimated arrival date next week. :D It was very scary handing over the 50% deposit but I did it!

Not only that, I think I've picked my BM's dress too! It is AMAZING, soft chiffon with a bateau neckline, oh I adore it. She looks stunning in it. I just need to decide on the colour, might post a link so you can all vote. Plus I ordered the BM's shoes on the KG website, with the £20 Elle card and the welcome discount they were only £15!!!!!http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/KG+January+court+shoes/160701269,default,pd.html?cm_mmc=Googlebase-_-Women-_-Shoes-_-January+court+shoes&istCompanyId=17910aed-1bae-4362-9580-b523eb87a91e&istItemId=ilwilmpx&istBid=t  Please God let them fit her!

AND I sat and decided on all the readings and prayers for the ceremony and who's doing them.

AND I had a chat with a wedding stationery person... their design are FAB but the prices they're quoting are a bit scary tbh! How much are you all spending on your stationery? Is it acceptable to hand deliver what you can to save on postage????

To all the rest of you - yay for all the shoes, OH's suits, bouquets and all the exercise you're doing! Amazing work ladies :T:T:T:T I wasn't that good over Christmas, was amazed that my dress zipped up again on Saturday so at least I haven't gained weight! The total body transformation starts here!

Yay for ordering the dress! Bet you are glad that it's out of the way now and you KNOW that that's the one you will have. And well done an being able to zip it up! I like the BM dress too, suede rose is lovely but I also like the look of 'cameo' as a vintage colour if you wanted it less pink? Depends on the rest of the theme I guess, and your BM's colouring.

I spent about 30 quid on the invitations on Ebay, they are just basic cards, I ordered a pack on thin white card through school which is about a tenner and I will just print out the map/address details onto that. RSVP's I'm going to ask people to text, phone, email or facebook lol! I'm definitely going to hand deliver anyone who is near enough! (cos I'm a cheapskate hehe).

Wouldn't your venue print menus for you? Ours have their own headed paper that sort of matches their decor. Also what is an OOS? :o

I might have to nick some ideas from your readings - we are getting married in a church but I'm not really into the religion thing (it's for my Grandparents really) so I dread to think what I'm going to have! I just don't find any of the language particularly appealing! We have got a 'marriage preparation' thing at the church next month where they get all of that years B&G's together to go through different styles and themes with people from the church, I'm dreading it haha!

Well I have been good all day with food but my friend has just cried off swimming so now I have to motivate myself to go and do something on my own :( make me go please you lot! I have to because I had a biscuit at breaktime on the condition that I was going to go swimming lol!

    xx

    Thanks Silaqui. :D

I loved the cameo as well, it's so pretty... but the swatch was very draining next to my BM's face! :o

Nick whatever ideas you want :D and I'm always here if you want to ask anything.

Our venue will print menus, but I am being a bit OCD and want my own menus! It all has to fit in with the vintage/shabby chic/whimsical theme, which their headed paper definitely won't! :rotfl:

OOS = order of service :)

Oh and GO SWIMMING!!!!!!!!! :j :rotfl:
