Btw, I have been at my mum's for just over 24 hours so far, and she's just told me (as politely as she can) that she's a bit bored of talking about the wedding! I'm a bit upset tbh, as I only see her a couple of times a month and that's when I talk to her about wedding stuff.
With the lack of enthusiasm from mum and OH I feel a bit 'on my own' with this weddingand my BM is having some problems so I haven't really been talking wedding stuff with her lately either. I don't want to burden her iykwim. I'm just glad that I can be there for her when she needs me, she is a sweetheart. Sorry to moan!

That is what is so great about this thread wanchai
we will never grow tired of hearing all about your wedding plans
I definitely get most of my wedding-talk out on here and share just the odd bit with a few people - normally only when they ask though.
As for the invites. I've spent £75.42 on: 25 invites ('day' or 'evening'), 25 thank-you cards, envelopes to go with the invites and thank you cards, writable CDs (for guests to burn their wedding photos on), envelopes to send these back, 30 large second class stamps (for 10 invites, 10 thank-you cards, and 10 returns), and computer labels to print out the addresses on the invites. This works out at roughly £3 per 'group of people (e.g. parents, brother & family). I made all the invites/thank you cards etc myself. I have shared a photo before - lol but I love a good photo flash:0 -
Right I'm off to go try making a wedding cake cheesecake
Wish me luck!!

You're right Natalie
I feel better now. This thread is so great for getting all the wedding talk off our chests!!!
Oh, I adore your invites!!!! Fab! How did you design/print them? We need about 60 or so plus 100 menus/OOS etc so I fear that it will be expensive!!!!
Good luck with the cake, sounds Yum! Let me know how it goes xx7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Can't join the invite chat because I wasted £70 on my first lot as we changed venues and I changed my colour scheme!!!!
I am making my own now. I really need to price up how much they have cost. The new paper I ordered has arrived and it's lush!!
I love talking weddings on here as I am sure I'd bore allmy friends with my constant chat. Not sure what I was doing with my life before I got engaged!!
Very excited today as I'm following Santa on twitter. He's on his way!!!!!!!!0 -
I just googled invites and looked at recreating the ones I liked. It was actually quite easy to do on Word. And I just printed them on my (good) inkjet printer.
Well 90 mins later and I have a REALLY yummy looking cheesecake in the fridge.
I followed this recipe: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2442/pink-strawberry-cheesecake (using a 20cm square deep cake tin)
But added broken meringues into the cheesecake mix, and then some on the top with chopped up strawberries.
These were the ingredients:
This is the final product (which is now sat in the fridge waiting for tomorrow :T):
I'm going to cut half of it off to freeze. I shouldn't really have decorated the whole of the top - cause I don't think the strawberries will freeze very well. But sod it - I'm experimenting. Plus if it works it'll be a lot easier to be able to freeze the whole thing and then defrost on the morning of the wedding!
Am going to go and cost up how much it cost to make.0 -
Okay I've priced it all up based on the ingredients I used today.
The 16 portions I've made today has cost £10.83.
I need 64 portions to fill the cake stand (53 to feed each guest one portion). So that would be £43.31.
If I was to buy just regular New York cheesecakes from Tescos it'd cost £32. And they wouldn't be as deep as the ones I've made - nor have anything on the top so I'd have to spend on that.
My wedding cake budget was £60. Including the cake stand, and at today's prices, the whole thing would come to £63.25.Not bad!! Especially when you consider a) how much a traditional cake from a wedding cake specialist would cost and b) how much we'd be paying if we were having some cupcakes made!

Cheesecake looks amazing NatalieI love the idea of meringues in it. I deffo reckon to freeze your real ones plain and add the strawberries on fresh because they go a bit soggy in the freezer. Raspberries freeze well though if that's an option! Are you going to have them all the same flavour?
We had an email from our vicar today inviting us (inviting as in, you've MUST attend...) to a 'marriage preparation' day with all the other couples getting married at a similar time to us. It says in the letter it's to discuss the religious meaning of marriage and to discuss choices for hymns, bellringers, flowers and stuff. Aaaargh! I am so not suited for that kind of thing, I will need to rein myself in - OH always tells me I'm too blunt in saying what I think and I don't want to upset anyone...:o I never mean to, I just can't help it!
I know there is another couple getting married on the same day as us - we actually booked in first (ages before them!) at 1pm but then the vicar said they were interested in the same day and did we mind what time we had, so I used it as an excuse to move us later... but I am dreading if she wants all flowers and stuff in the church. Would it be bridezilla of me to ask that they are removed before we get there? We went to church the other week and someone had got married the day before and their flowers were all still there, and honestly it looked so over the top... it was a bit like THIS but because it's only a small church it just didn't go... lol maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit here, she might not even want flowers in the church haha!
Lol Natalie I am so over Christmas already, feels like there have been lights and tinsel everywhere for months! I think I'd actually enjoy it much more if the shops didn't have all the christmas stuff in from October - I just get bored of it all and it isn't special anymore.Makes me sad really because I did used to love it! I still look forward to my turkey dinner though lol!
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
MERRY CHRISTMAS all. I absolutely Luuurvvee Christmas eve. Best day of the year!
Just think this is our last single (unmarried!) Christmas and for some of you your last Christmas before being mummies.
I hope Santa is generous to you all. X0
