July 2012 Brides and Grooms

Oh wedding invites - what a topical conversation for me today! I've had a mini Bridezilla moment. H2B has some close friends from his previous marriage and we have all been out as couples on quite a few occasions and got on well, however i'm hurt as we haven't even received a christmas card from them. These friends are on our day guest list which can only be 40 special people so it meant a lot to us to invite them and not even a christmas card or even a text message! So in my grumpiness as i have had a strop and told H2b that if we haven't received a card from people on our guest list then i'm striking them off!!!!!
perhaps its the fact that 1 set of my christmas tree lights have blown and now i will have to dismantle the decorations to replace the lights (which i will have to fight around the shops for tomorrow) all before my girl friends come around for cake tomorrow afternoon. Ho hum . . . . . still its only 53 hours til Xmas.0 -
Wanchai - can you pm me your jewellery idea!
How about mounting the wrapping paper (cheaper option) on to some textured card sheets that you can purchase for about 20p a sheet from any good craft shop. That way you could have the brown paper look with twine?0 -
Could you not leave them on the tree, buy some replacement ones, and then take them back after Christmas with your receipt and ask for a refund? Don't know if the store would do that - maybe phone their customer services and ask? I'd hate to have to take my decorations off and put them up again!!
Christmas cards are funny. As I was writing ours out I did wonder if we were inviting anyone that I don't send a card to - and the answer is yes, there were a few people. But that doesn't mean I don't want them there any less than other people. Then there are the people who don't send out any Christmas cards - I mean strictly speaking what a waste of time and money they are. Could it be that these people don't send them out but give to charity instead?0 -

We have had cards in the past although this is only our second xmas together! Maybe i am being over sensitive. I used my guest list as a reminder to make sure everyone got a card. They are wasteful but i do recycle the not so good ones and the nice ones i make into gift tags for my kids to use the following year. Very MSE. :rotfl:
H2B has offered to go out and get new lights for me in the morning as apparently " I have a face on" !!!0 -

I think because we're having our weddings during the summer hols it's best to give them out sooner rather than later so if people are desperate to attend they have plenty of notice and can work everything else around our dates... cause lets face it the world revolves around our weddings right?
Mmm stiff brown card. Have you tried http://www.pdacardandcraft.co.uk/? They were really reasonable for our stationery.
Ooh thanks, will check it out now!
And yes, of course the world revolves around our weddings lol!FutureCooper wrote: »Wanchai - can you pm me your jewellery idea!

Good morning everyone!! By some miracle I have lost 0.5lbs this week. I am totally amazed as all I was hoping for was a STS!! Especially after all the stuff I'd eaten (written the list above somewhere). This brings my loss to date to 9lbs (including the water retention from the first week), and my weight left to lose to 12.5lbs0

:T another £250 paid towards the honeymoon. :j pay day today lol. Only got £500 left to pay then when that has been paid I can then put a deposit down on the 5 days diving0

Hello all!
Am browsing stationery and invite sites and getting despondent about the cost of pretty invites. Even the paper seems extortionate!
How much are you all spending on invites - not inc. postage?
Btw, I missed Natalie's new posts on this thread - oops! Thought it had been very quiet today!Good morning everyone!! By some miracle I have lost 0.5lbs this week. Omg I am so chuffed for you pet!!! That is amazingI have been so good today - I'm not going to get a lot of exercise over Christmas so have resolved to eat less to compensate.
