Oh that is such a shame tFutcher! At least you know now that you aren't happy with them, rather than ordering them a week before the wedding and being stuck!!

This made me giggle last night - after all the stress I had persuading him to marry me, I dropped it into the conversation that I was thinking about keeping my maiden name for work (it's scary giving up my name)... lol went down like a lead balloon!

Natalie- I know how you feel about your size/ weight, was trying to decide what outfit to wear for my night out last night and just felt and looked so bloated. I lost over a stone for my friends wedding last year and have put some of the weight back on- but Im hoping that as ive managed to lose the weight before I will be able to do it again!!
    Tracey- which favours were they?

Im actually looking forward to changing my name! When I first got with my oh I said I would have a double barrelled name, but now Im just looking forward to taking on his name and loosing my surname!!

Well I havent done or looked at anything wedding related for a day or so now!!

Yes I'm glad it's booked - glad we didn't have to go trekking round lots of different places too, this was pretty much the first place we thought of and the only place we looked at! Nice and easy!

I'm really glad it's a long time to go, because I need to lose some weight too. I lost 2.5 stone a couple of years ago, but since then about a stone of it has gone back on. I want to try and lose about another 2 stone I think. I still won't be skinny like I used to be but it will get rid of the belly! I've started back at the gym and healthy eating but it's slow progress! Maybe we should have a weigh in here once a week - track our progress!?

I really don't want to change my name - I've had mine all my life! :rotfl: But I also don't want the hassle of having separate names. The worst thing is that I really don't want to be a 'Mrs' I hate that. Reminds me of old women. I like being Miss! I don't know what to do. Doubled barrelled doesn't really work with our names.

I did my first proper weddingy type thing yesterday and ordered some samples of different coloured paper napkins :rotfl:can't resist a freebie, I don't actually know what I'm going to do with them... the thought in my head was that it might help me decide on a colour scheme :p

Tracey, at least you've found out that they are horrible early on. Might be worth spending a day making your own practice ones and see how they turn out!

  • We didnt go looking at any other venues either, I went to wedding reception at the place we are having ours a year or so ago and knew it would be just right for us.

I think I would like to lose about a stone, which I know I can do, I just need to get my backside in gear!! I do go to the gym but have been a rubbish the last few months, and I went to my first zumba class week so am going to keep that up. Weekly weigh in/ general encouragement sounds a good idea.

Just a quickie - will write in more detail when I'm awake (dropped MrD off at Heathrow this morning, left home at 6:30am, he drove, arrived at Heathrow at 9:30, and I'm literally just got home, got abour 5 hrs sleep last night - I don't function with little sleep - I was eating highly sugary things to keep me awake while driving the 150-200mile trip home!).

Weekly Weigh in - definitely up for that!
"Mrs" - yep Mrs'D' is MrD's mum's name!! I don't think I want kids at school to be calling me Mrs'D' lol. (I've put D in ''s because it isn't actually either of our names as I've said before lol). Oh I forgot to say the reason why we were discussing my name change... when we book tables/order take aways etc we always use my name because it's easier for people to spell/pronounce. I said to MrD (when we went to collect an indian on Friday night ooops) that I bet we still use my maiden name for that. Lol.

Right I'm off to go have a nap!

I am going to take my OH surname. It is going to be so much easier to spell and pronounce than mine at the moment.
Our venue is the first place that we looked at as well. My friend had her reception there. It is also where I go to University and has some beautiful grounds for photos which is a bonus xx

Well I haven't had a nap - although I have gotten into my PJs and I am sat snuggled up on the sofa. :) I'm sat watching loads of crappy films - so far I've watched Miracle on 34th Street (the original) and I'm now on Hairspray (the new version). Lol I'm sat singing along!

MrD has landed in Finland (he's on a snowmobiling holiday with his friends). Bit of a panic - thought his bag had gotten lost. The belt stopped and no more bags were coming out. So he went and filed a report on it. Turned around and luckily there it was going round on the belt. Phew! (Although there was only clothes and toiletries in there). At least I don't have to send him any money to replace it all!

Tracey - you mentioned making your own chocolates, it's not very MSE-friendly but I make Delia Smith's truffles - they always go down really well. What sort of favours would you like? And how many?

So everyone when are we 'weighing in'? I had a good day yesterday - ate sensibly, but today waking up and having no energy I ate so much crap sugary foods to keep me awake while driving home. I'll be eating sensibly for the rest of the week though!

Hey just been looking back through the thread - DAVE!! Where are you!! What plans have you been getting sorted? :) And you LauraR, littlemisspink and SSAllen!!

Oooo Mel where are you getting your napkins from? Are you getting anything written on them? Lol I'm being VERY tight - am going to get white paper plates and red napkins from Tescos (although they won't be the 'right' shade of red so I may change my mind lol.)

Tell ya - I am glad that we're not having to find a venue... there is really only one around me that I'd like - but it would be way out of budget!

Lol we always do that too, but with his name! My name is german and quite unusual over here, and although it's not that *really* hard to spell no-one ever manages it! I have all manner of things put on letters!

Things written on them? Doesn't that cost... *gasp* money??? :rotfl: Nah I'm way too tight for that! I found this website when I was googling for rough budget amounts, they do all sorts of tableware in matching colours, this link will take you to the samples page. Not sure if they are the cheapest, I haven't looked that much into it as yet! But it seems like more of a party company not wedding focused so they may well be reasonable! http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/party/tableware/colour/sample.php

Weigh in, any day is good for me. I haven't weighed myself for a while so will do it at the gym tomorrow. I'm terrible for baking when I get bored - OH has been out all day today with work so I've made flapjacks (quite healthy ones as they are for breakfasts), 12 st clements cupcakes, and a raspberry and mascarpone swiss roll :p only problem is it now has to all be eaten! I will have to take some to work tomorrow :o

Glad I'm not the only one! Makes things much easier though I guess because it is the main thing sorted. Ours is in the middle of some lovely woodland and just down the road from a big country park, places I've been going since I was a kid.

Just been having a look through that site I linked to and I love these http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/party/confetti/hearts.html so tacky I know but when I worked as a waitress loads of couples used to request them for wedding functions and I used to love scattering them - I may just get some purely for the pleasure of scattering on the tables!

    xx

    Hahah!!

(lol I'm sat here now watching Labyrinth - what a great film!)

I will have a look at that site Mel - the place I plan on getting my balloons from is a regular (ebay) party shop. And yes wording on napkins would cost, and to be honest what a waste of time - they only end up being smeared in food and thrown in the bin... although just one to save for my keepsake box would be nice.. lol.

    Blimey you've been busy baking!!

I plan on having little dark red heart confetti on my worktops around the buffet. :) or red petals
