:) I'll join you in stamping your feet for your vouchers and petticoat! Although I will also add food - I'm hungry and MrD has gone to his parents - god knows what time he'll be home!

Hurrah that your DJ has confirmed your booking :D and it's good that you've got him through a recommendation from a friend :)

I've done nothing weddingy today :( I can see why some weddings end up being extortionate - it is very addictive this wedding planning - I'm almost tempted to include things that we'd previously discounted just so I have something to organise and plan!!
  • I do hope at least one thing is on the door mat when I get home (well maybe a card to say the petticoat is at the post office!!) tomorrow.

I dont know if the friend that has recommended him has actually used him- but I know this friend wouldnt just recommend anyone that he didnt know anything about/ hadnt heard anything about (it that makes sense).

Oh you mean you havent had your yummy dinner yet- thats just mean of MrD to go out and leave you at home surrounded by yummy smelling food!

WHen are you going to start practising your cheesecakes? Have you got your spare fridge freezer yet?
  • Need some serious advice and opinions please ladies . . . . . . . my story is that I am 40 *cough splutter* years old, and this is my second marriage. I married when i had just turned 19 and my mum organised the whole thing first time round. My first thoughts were to have a very simple dress not wedding like at all really more summer ball type. BUT i have found a beautiful dress. Completely opposite to anything i have looked at. I spoke to the shop assistant about it and she 'made' me try it on!! Then proceeds to show me a rip in the top layer of tulle which means they are selling it off! A steal at £215 from £600. I have asked them to hold it till i can get a friend to see it on Friday with me.

SOOOO . . . . truth time - i am too old for such a wedding dress??. Its only a registry wedding and hotel reception after all.

I plan on practicing making our cheesecakes during Easter next year :D Lol well that is when I've pencilled it on my to do list :) Nope haven't got the spare fridge and freezer yet - the lady phoned me about two weeks ago now but cause of one thing or another and going off to Disneyland Paris I couldn't get there to pick it up. She said she'd phone last weekend but didn't - so I'm hoping she tries this weekend and tries my mobile - as we're away all weekend in Anglesey.

Melanie - in my opinion - no - you are never too old. If you feel amazing in it get it!! We definitely want pictures though! (And the 'registry office and hotel reception' thing is irrelevant! :))

    Ok so I'm bored. :D
I have got 19 red balloons left from my ebaying capers (am in profit now - with respect to ebay & paypal fees, so I'm cutting my losses - with respect to how much I paid for them compared to how much I've got back from ebay, if that makes any sense), so I decided to have a play and create a cloud 9. I LOVE them!! So pleased we're going to go with them. Will have them in all four corners of each room downstairs (3 rooms = 12 cloud nines), and some outside (will have 9 left over - so they can go in the four corners of the gardens, front and back, with 1 spare).
Would you like to see a photo? Of course you would lol. Bear in mind these are going to be in ivory and burgundy(ish) balloons. It took me about 15 mins or so to make this one so if MrD and I get a production line going - him blowing me tying (can I trust him to tie?) I'm sure we'll be able to get these done in no time!

Actually they are a lot easier than they look :) (famous last words lol - you wait till I'm doing them for real lol). I just followed these guidelines http://www.themepartiesnmore.com/balloons_balloon_clouds.html
It is great though cause that cloud nine cost me about £1 in total. (Cost of balloons and balloon pump spread over the cost of 21 balloon 9s). I've seen them on the internet for £21 each!! (Although admittedly blown up with helium).

    Natalie they look good:)

Melaine i think you are never too old and if you really love the dress and think you look good in it then GO FOR IT!

Nothing weddingy to report - well apart from the DJ emailed yesterday and has made an online playlist so our guests can now requested what music they want!

Had a hospital appointment this morning. All ok now been discharged which is good:)

Just been trying to sort out my maternity leave as i need to let my boss know by 17th September so thats only two weeks after i go back to work.

Well its raining and we got thunder and lighing so think i will do some wedding bits after Lunch:D
  • melanie- Im with natalie- if you love it and feel amazing in it then go for it, your age really shouldnt affect the type of dress you go for- go for what you want. not what you think is expected you should have- and the type of wedding you have doesnt matter either- Im having a registry office wedding and I have a proper ivory dress (which I cant wait to wear!!) Go back Friday with your friend and if you still like it go for it!!

    Natalie- the balloons look fab!

Okay, report on Sweden, it was ace, 40,000 Scouts on one camp site, I was working in an info centre giving out info to Scouts and their leaders. Weather amazing, apart from the thunder storm on the last evening, being stuck in my little pink tent was slightly scary :) Bear Grylls was at the opening ceremony, and Europe were at the the closing ceremony playing the final countdown!! Lots of the youngsters didn't know who they were until they started singing!!

Back to the slog of work now, A levels are now out, and UCAS keeps crashing, so having loads of new students calling for places - I'm looking on target for 60 first years!!!

Dress: they don't have it on the Monsoon website anymore :( - found it on ebay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hyatt-Maxi-monsoon-dress-sz-10-BNWT-never-been-tried-/260821029302?pt=UK_Women_s_Dresses&hash=item3cba2511b6 but I didn't pay that (only 112.50)
    Shoes: http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/Untold+Jammy+u+frill+bow+sandals/144628590,default,pd.html (only 15)
Tiara: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRIDAL-JON-RICHARD-TIARA-DEBENHAMS-FLOWER-DIAMONTE-L-K-/150646849764?pt=UK_Wedding_Clothing&hash=item23134080e4 (mum paid for this when we went to Debenhams - can't find on their website)
This necklace: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JON-RICHARD-DIAMANTE-CRYSTAL-CLOVER-Y-NECKLACE-EARRINGS-/160626475958?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_CostumeJewellery_CA&hash=item25661583b6 (but not the earrings again from Debenhams - can't find on their website)

and if I remember rightly these earrings: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_37484+JRER019499_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7EWomen%7EJewellery%7Etxtclip

There's some new photos on the venue's website for the weddings, it's looking lovely. Hope the weather is good when we go over. http://www.aftonpark.co.uk/weddings.htm
