Emma Have fun giving notice today.
LauraR sorry to hear your having to take OH aunty off your guest list.
Got three quotes for our honeymoon. One placed i really liked is already booked so have asked for the price for the following week.
Have my 20week scan on Thursday and the past two nights i've been dreaming that we didnt find out the sex or get any photos!0 -
Afternoon all!
I've been away for a few days (in London visiting my sister!) so have missed a lot of the chat! You've all certainly been busy!
I'm really excited this afternoon. I went dress shopping a couple of weeks ago and found a new dress I'd fallen in love with. I stupidly hadn't taken note of the name of the designer as I thought they'd written it on the slip they've given me (they hadn't!), so I plucked up the courage to call the shop and ask.
I swear my stomach jumped right into my mouth when I saw it! It's so pretty - and just perfect for what I'm looking for!
Ok - I'm off to catch up on what I've missed - I'll be back shortly!

Laurar – that's rotten you're feeling in competition with your bro. I'm sure on the day you won't care at all. I think everyone will just accept every wedding in it's own right. Although we all spend hours and hours agonising over every last wee detail, I'm not sure how much notice other people really pay. As long as you're happy with what you've chosen for your day that's all that matters!
*** Just saw what you said about groupon – whoops! That's a great idea! Before you book though, I'd make sure you phone the place and see how many people they can accommodate at the one time. My friends and I have booked a few (in Glasgow though!) but all of them were smaller places who could only take 1 person at a time – as long as you hold out for somewhere that can take 2 or 3 of you if there's going to be a crowd, I reckon that's a great idea though! You could maybe also look at getting some of these mobile people out to the house to have a bit of a pampering party if you have the space. A few of my friends were at a Hen do in Brighton a couple of weeks ago and that's what they did in their hotel in the afternoon and they loved it – wasn't very expensive either! ***
Sickasachip – looking at my spreadsheet makes me feel a bit sick too. I reckon I'll feel a bit better about it when our savings start to build a wee bit though! We've moved back in with my mum, and I've taken on a Sat job and am hoping to do a bit of tutoring in the evenings to get some extra cash for it. We're lucky that our parents are donating £8k to the cause as well – otherwise it'd be a very different day! I'm sure there are savings we'll make along the way though to bring the costs down!
Pinkprincess – I totally sympathise about the hen-do! I had found what I thought was the perfect venue for mine (a murder mystery weekend in a hotel in Dunoon, with Dinner B&B for 2 nights for £99!), but I mentioned it to my older sister (who's normally really up for anything) and she was like “well if that's what you're doing, I won't be coming!” I was pretty upset about it, just cause I think that with my friends and family I'd just go with whatever they wanted to do in that situation because they're important to me and I reckon it should be about them, so her attitude made me feel as though I must just not be that important to her! In the end, I've handed the reigns back to my bridesmaids though. I've just given them a list of the people they should ask and their contact details, and told them I want it to be a complete surprise! Have you come up with anything else yet? I agree with what everyone else has said as well, just arrange what you want to do with the people who have shown an interest and go along and make sure you have a great time. No matter how hard you try you'll never please everyone, so in this instance it really is only what you want that matters!
Sliaqui – your dress is beautiful! And what a bargain too! That's amazing!!
MrsD – how was Eurodisney? I'm so jealous – you seem to be having a very action packed summer holiday! Your rings are beautiful together as well – I don't think the gap is noticeable at all?! I won't be getting my ring for quite a while yet, my engagement ring is an unusual shape, so I'm planning on getting my wedding band made to fit it and it's a bit pricey – so it'll be a while 'til we can afford them!
Phew – this is the longest post is my history an an MSE-er so I'm going to call a halt to it just now! Off out with some of my uni friends tonight, so I guess I should go get ready!
Have a lovely day

Well we have given notice- and it was fine.
I have also had my guestlist worries sorted, i thought the 45 included us, but its actually 47 including us and my ideal list was 47 including us so i will go through it again but i should be able to let people know soon so they can book flights as a couple of our guests live abroad.
LauraL- are you planning on finding out the sex? Oh fingers crossed they have space for the week after.
Laura3- glad youve found your dress- have you ordered it?
Well i have text a few people about my new plans but not sure if people are glad or not with the plans- I dont care, this is what I really want to do. Laura3- a murder mystery would have been so much fun. im like you, i always do whatever someone else choses and go along with the flow, so thats part of the reason I was upset, i bend backwards for people but it feels like they cant do it back for me.0 -
That's great everything's worked out with your guest list! One less thing to worry about!
We've the same problem, our evening guest list is 18 more than the max - my in-laws reckon we should just invite them all, there'll def be a few from that who can't make it n if we're only a couple over they reckon it'll go unnoticed!
Good news on the hen too - glad you've found something you want to do n it doesn't matter if it's a bit earlier than people might expect. I think mine'll be in April too!
I haven't ordered the dress yet. I'm a size 12 just now and would like to be a 10 for the wedding. So I don't want to order it now to then have to pay to have it taken in. I reckon I can shift the weight by the end of Sep and I can order it then!

My dress!
http://www.theknot.com.au/bridal-fashion/wedding-dress-galleries/martina-liana-2011-341-with-strap
The "strap" is like a wee lace jacket that can come off and the dress be worn without it if I wanted. Can't stop looking at it I love it so much! Lol!
My sis' fine - thanks for asking! She's not far from Tottenham though n she said all of the shops in her area were closed and boarded up - it's scary stuff!
Great news on the honeymoon! I would love to go to Devon! We were thinking of a cruise to Alaska originally but I'm now thinking I might want to go somewhere a bit warmer! Lol!

Laura3- that dress is stunning. The riot stuff is scary, my bil2b lives not far from hackney, and my aunt and her family not far from croydon so its scary hearing all the news.
:jLauraL- on booking the honeymoon, and fab news about the chair covers. fingers crossed baby will be a good baby on the day of your scan so you can see.0 -
