so glad u had a good time natalie... how much roughly was eurodisney for u and OH we are thinking of going with the kids for our honeymoon but not sure if we can afford it. as will have to buy 2 passports for the boys too...
I am thinking of paying extra on vistaprint for the nicer paper and then getting some sparkly bits to glam them up a little.
i know i am waiting to here from hotel to make sure we can get married there and then will ring registrar..
i know.. it will be no good if we make up this time next year as the wedding will be over.... but then again its 4 different people we could have there that we WANT there rather then have to HAVE lol....
OMG this time next year we will be married :-0 eeekkkkk!!!!!! :0)0 -
Really sorry I can't help on the price - it was a family holiday with MrDs family (his parents, his sister, her 2 children, and her wife), and his parents very generously paid for us all. It was a really lovely trip away. I don't think it was as magical place as I thought it would be - the characters for example weren't just wandering around the park - there was meet and greet times and places setup (which is where I got my photo taken with Sully). In the 4 days we were there I think we saw 6-8 characters - certainly nowhere near as many as I had expected. The carnival again was good - but in terms of magic - mmm not sure. There was Mikey at the start, then the fairy godmothers/tinkerbell floats, then the evil characters floats, then the disney princesses, then Minnie at the end. It was really short really and not as many disney characters as I'd expected. The fireworks were really the only magical thing for me. But that being said it was a good trip. I would say it's more of a theme park than what I was expecting. If that makes sense.
Woo hooo my Phase 8 dress came today - it is lovely!! And even better that the size 10 fits me even in my 'stone above target eaten crap for two weeks bloatedness'. Which means I won't have to worry about what I eat on Honeymoon! It is possibly a little bit too long so I'm going to ask MrD's mum for advice about how I could take it up (don't want my legs looking short and stumpy cause it stops at the widest part of my calfs) - but I didn't try it on with my shoes which will lengthen my legs.0 -
I realised this weekend - we no longer have to say the year when people ask us when we're getting married.0

Welcome back Natalie- so glad you had a good time. And :jat the phase 8 dress. Yes, so glad I can now sort out a definate guest list. No, I still need to sort out my tesco vouchers, I shall be doing that today. I tried the twisty ring I showed you but it didnt sit right so im definately going for the one with 2 rows of diamonds, I was worried in the shop as my fingers were swollen and the one I tried on fitted perfectly whereas when I had tried it on before it had been really big, but when I asked her what size I was trying on it was an L- hence why it fitted perfectly and they must have just swapped the display one for a smaller size!!
Oh Im so glad giving notice is over and done with. Oh and they gave us a list of songs they offerwhich I you tubed last night, there was one that was nice for me walking in but not much else so I had a brainwave- why not make the most of the best man (ohs brother) and get him to make us a piece of music, it will be a traditional wedding piece of music, with a modern twist and he has agreed to do it, it will definately be more 'us' and will be nice having something his brother has done.
I was saying to oh this morning this time next year our 2 week honeymoon will almost be over, and I wrote in his birthday card this would be the last birthday card he will get saying fiance!!
Laurar- I think you could make the vistaprint invites look really posh, and dont you have other bits that will tie in with the invites? Next years prices are available for a lot of next years holidays so im sure you should be able to get an idea of prices.0 -
:)Oh that is brilliant news about your ring
and I'm glad that the one you wanted fitted perfectly!!
How exciting!!
That is really good that they gave you a list of possible songs - but even better that you have someone who could make you a piece. I am thinking I want something fairly traditional in that I don't want any songs with words. I quite like this (from 0mins 44 seconds onwards where it builds up):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGT2z9vmjWM Stanton Lanier's Wildflowers
I'd have to hope the registrar doesn't know it was inspired by Matthew 6:25-34! I also like this Awaken the Dawn but it's a bit slow and possibly funerally.0 -
i dont know what to walk down to but if i HAVE to have a 1st dance which i really dont... hopefully we can just have a dance in the night but not with everyone watching lol... anyways we would have this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5wBEKOakbs
we have loads of love songs that suit us though x0 -
Awww that is lovely!!! Definitely a first dance song!
But yes I can understand the not wanting one - lol cause we aren't!
It is going to be really hard to find the music for the ceremony. The music for the 'reception' won't be too hard - we can both just choose loads of music and have it on random.0 -
LauraR - :T on the shoes!! That's amazing you got a discount just for asking - I'm always very shy about things like that (OH's even worse!), just shows if you don't ask you don't get though I suppose! Thank-you for the link too, I'll need to get searching for other suppliers and see if I can find my dress a bit cheaper - it's currently £1595 which is waaaaaaay more than I wanted to pay!
That's a beautiful song too - are you having a band or a DJ at the reception? Is it definitely cheaper to get the Vistaprint invites? I haven't looked into it, but I'm going to try and do ours myself with some help from my BM's to try and save some cash!
PinkPrincess- that's great news about the hairdresser - I need to call and cancel the hairdressers I've booked into. They wanted almost £400 to do the 8 of us, and we'd have to be there from 7am-12pm and the wedding starts at 1.30pm so it'd be very tight! My normal hair dresser comes to my house, and she's agreed to do them for £20pp - only prob is she reckons she can prob only do 4 of us, so I need to find someone who can do the other 4!
I found a place in Glasgow who hire the petticoats out starting from £15. I've no idea what location you're in but there must be other places that do it too?
Natalie - welcome back! Glad you had a lovely time! You're sooooo organised! Can't believe you're buying in the alcohol already - I'm mega impressed! Have you considered a cheeky wee trip to France to stock up your bar? My in-laws did that for OH's older bro's wedding and they supplied far more alcohol than was needed for the full night and at a bargain price!
What a beautiful song too - it's very calming and peaceful! there won't be a dry eye in the house!
I'm not sure what we're walking down to yet (will need to speak to fil to try and agree on hymns - OH's Church of Scot and I'm Catholic, so I'd like to try get some hymns that both sides might know!) I also need to find a choir, but I've no idea where to start looking for one!
The song we're having for our first dance is, Frank Sinatra, Dancing Cheek to Cheek:

I wanted something from the 20's which this originally was. But the Fred Astaire version is much slower and we wanted to have something quite pacey. Ideally we'd like a proper dance routine which we'd do just by ourselves, but the first quote I got back for the song being choreographed and the lessons was £400, so unless I can find it much cheaper that idea'll be getting scrapped!!
Hope you're all having a lovely day! It's pouring from the heavens here - I went out for a run earlier and it's the only time ever I've come home cold! Lol!
xx0 -
I haven't considered it - mainly cause of the faff of going over. Getting down to Dover for the ferry or Maidstone for the Freight train would take around 6hrs at least. Because neither of us drink wine we'd struggle to know what we were looking for. I wouldn't be confident about just picking up any old bottle. Plus because we're only catering for 57 people (including kids) I'm not convinced the savings would be worth it. Our budget is £420 for the alcohol, I aim to get bottles of wine for £4 now (it was under £5 but now I've got nearly half of them for £4 a bottle I've moved my goalpost lol), and bottles of beer and cider for £1 a bottle (plus two crates of carling). If I can manage that I will have spent £308.
Have you tried sticking dance routines into you tube and seeing if there is anything you could adapt/copy?0 -
I only asked in an email i would never dare to in a shop or face to face lol...
we are having a DJ and hoping to get a playlist together of what we would like.
Vistaprint is cheap, i couldnt make them that cheap i would love to but buy the time ive bought materials etc it will be so much more. the ones im using are white with 2blue interlocking hears. i might get some tiny crystals to stick on or maybe some ribbon to "glam" them up a little.
im sure ull find the dress cheaper somewhere x0
