I have now hit a brick wall with the wedding, not sure what to do next. I think I may have to start my production line of invites and other stationary so that it is ready well in advance. Trying out various types of wording on the inside. What are people planning on doing for gifts? I'm finding this particularly difficult as we don't need anything really so I am not sure :-(
It sounds like you're doing well so far if you've bought a tiara!
We have the same problem as we will have been living together for over 5 years when we get married. We're going to ask people to pay for different parts of the honeymoon (catering for all budgets from hotel rooms, to entrance fees to places, to lunch/dinner etc). As they will have to choose what they want to pay for and can make suggestions for where we visit and places to eat, we feel that it is more like a traditional wedding list than just asking for money towards a honeymoon. Then as our thank you cards we will send a picture of us enjoying their gift to us.0 -
We personally arent doing anything about gifts! No gift list as we have everything we need and we arent going to mention anything in the invites, if anyone does ask we will say if they really want to give something then money or maybe vouchers but we arent expecting anything. Thats a great idea about taking the pics to use as thank you cards, will be personal and a bit different.0

So far I have only been asked by one person about gifts. And I explained to her that we really don't want anything. (We have everything we want, only want your presence, you'll be spending a fortune just to get up here, yada yada yada). But for those that still take no for an answer (as she did) I've said just get us something nice that you think we'd like. Lol I'm a big kid really - I love getting presents. I don't care if they are crap, I don't care if we get 10 toasters, and I don't care if we never use the gifts. To me anyway, this is all part of getting married and being able to laugh at how many toasters we get etc. (The only exception to this is my brother who has said he'll get us a pastry fork and dessert spoon engraved with Mr and Mrs).
Right jog time. Boy do I need it. Don't think I woke up all day, was really grumpy and snappy. Need to snap myself out of it in time for MrD to get home else there may just be world war three lol.

I did drop a big hint to my sister (my older bridesmaid) that I would like a nice wedding photo album but im not sure she got the hint!!0

I guess because I'm seeing it more as a party and less of a wedding reception the idea of gifts is just alien. Our parents are buying our outfits for the day (or helping towards), so I certainly don't want anything off them. I think it'd be different if we were having the more traditional wedding with the ceremony and the reception on the same day, and if we hadn't already lived together for nearly 9 years when we get married. (There are pieces of furniture which we'd like but until we move I'm refusing to buy anything
)
I went for my jog and have come out of it in a better mood lol. Good job really cause I was in a right foul mood.

I think its one of those things just down to personal choice, my oh hates the idea of a gift list or asking for money hence why we wont be putting any mention of it in the invites, if people ask and insist then we will say money, vouchers or a suprise but the emphasis will be that we really dont expect it and just want people to come and have a great day/ evening with us.
I picked up a cheap jewellery set a while ago just to see what it would like like with my dress, went to my mil2bs today and tried it against it and it was a perfect match so am pleased with that as it was about £9 for the necklace, bracelet and earrings (although I may get different earrings if I have my hair up as I dont like dangley earrings when I have my hair up!!)0 -
Oh that is a good bargain!!
And I agree - gift lists really are down to personal choice - lol they are like chair covers on here (the wedding board - not this thread) - so many threads and arguments lol.
Well I have bought 2 pairs of toeless tights - tried one leg on and I think I will be able to position them so you won't be able to see the seams and they will give my legs a bit of a nicer look to them than going bare legged so I'm happy. I've put them with all my other underwear ready for next year(If they didn't work I'd have just worn them for work). Got them in a really pale colour too
I'm so going for the english rose look. Although this has added £9 to my underwear expenses! Bringing my total spend for MrD's underwear and mine to £50.70. (1 x Bra, 2 x tights, 1 x pants, 2 x socks = eeek really doesn't sound very MSE when it's written like that!! I'll also be wearing my spanx pants that I bought a year ago but that have hardly been worn so they aren't too stretched.)
Have I said - I can't wait till I go dress shopping!?! Lol I think I'm almost as excited about dress shopping as I am the wedding!!0 -
Yes, was pleased with that, especially as my original budget for accessories was £50 and I thought I would have to go well over as my tiara as £41 so Im pretty much bang on target!!
I need to sort out pants and then Im sorted, dont think I will go for tights as I think I will bake otherwise, have got my oh some boxers and socks that he doesnt know about yet, I cant remember what my original underwear budget was but I think im on track!! (I have told my oh not to expect any sexy underwear underneath my dress, it will be comfy and practical!! hehe)
Oh are you, I didnt think you were that bothered about going!!:rotfl: I would be exactly the same if it was me. I got my dress out of the duvet cover today, didnt try it on or anything but still got to drool over it- I love it!!0 -
How on earth you managed to not try it on is beyond me!! Lol I envision trying mine on at least once a week - lol it's going to need to be cleaned before the actual day :rotfl:
And definitely comfy/controlled undies for the day/dress. *MAY* get something a bit nicer for the honeymoon lol.0 -
Lol I'm glad I'm not the only one a bit funny about asking for things. I kinda see it as a party more than anything so I feel a bit rude even mentioning it, and I would rather have peoples company lol! Everyone seems to be doing well on the budgeting front thus far! I've only had one thing go over budget and that was oh shoes which were £10 more than budgeted but owing to savings elsewhere o figured we are not doing badly!
I've been very good and avoided looking at my dress again, it's a bit of a mission to put it on as it's a lace up back lol!0
