Soooooo exciting reading through everyone's posts!! Booked the registrar this morning. Need to sort out notice of marriage but has to be within 12 months of marrying. Me and oh are setting up a second joint account so it's just wedding money!

Went to Tesco shopping earlier and a bunch of gerbera's happened to 'fall' into the trolley!! Decided definately going to base the theme around them. Spent yesterday contacting photographers etc to get prices. There is a new photographer started doing weddings this year living locally, and she only charges £200 for the day from preparation to first dance. The price of printing, etc. will be added at the end, but she said albums start at around £70. That seems really cheap! Her photos look fantastic on the website though:

    holliedavis co uk

with full stops but the site won't let me!!

Quick question: I'm looking at making my own invitations/place cards etc. I've seen some on ebay for ideas, and there were place names with a gerbera in the corner stuck on. Not all stuck on the card but coming off it (not sure if I'm making sense???). Does anyone know where I could get some small gerberas (card, paper or fabric) that I could use to stick on things?

    Thank you.

Well done Mrs D for going for a jog! Need to do that big time!

    xx

lol that sounds like the perfect plan MrsD, I am not in the teaching world of work but my OH is, as such I invariably end up having school holidays off work so we get time off together (although my annual leave is not as generous as his).

I have pictures, but as newbie to this site I have no idea what I am doing!! (Prior to my adventure into the forums last week I was more of a silent observer).

Rach - my other half and I have set up a separate account for wedding monies. I have also started shopping at Tesco a whole lot more so I can get the clubcard points and use them for something useful at some point (not quite sure what yet but I am sure I will find something!). I think you have got yourself a very good price for the photographer, I booked mine and it was £500 for all day, but he will provide us with a disk and sign over full copyright. He will also make albums for us if we want, but if we have the disk and the copyright we can maybe look at making our own.

On the invitation front I have found hobbycraft to have lots of interesting bits in, if you have one near you they might be able to assist? (I am looking at making invitations too)

    Hello Everyone

We have a seperate wedding account aswell which we both pay a small amount into each month- I do like seeing the balance go up though (although it goes down a lot quicker!!:D), and Judobird, I am trying to save my tesco vouchers to go towards goldsmith vouchers for my wedding ring.

And Rach- thats a fab deal with your photographer. Im paying the same just for a couple hours and an edited disk which we can use as and when we want. I do love looking at all the preparation photos and reception photos but im so unphotogentic that 2 hours is more than enough for me!!

I need to think of some wedding things to sort!!:rotfl:

Lol Emma - I share that need to sort anything weddingy out - my problem is I'm running out of things!!

Rach - well done on getting your registrar booked! If you want to be super duper organised you may be able to go onto your council's website and book an appointment to give notice later this year. A few of us on here have done this - just cause it's another thing to tick off the list lol. Were going on the 1st August. :) Very impressed with your photographer's price!! And I'll go have a look for small gerberas to stick onto invites... do you have a colour preference?

Judo - not sure if you can do it while you're a 'newbie' and unable to post links... but you need to make sure the photo is on somewhere like photobucket or flickr and then you can copy the links from there onto here.

We don't have a separate account for our wedding stuff. But as we're paying bits off each month (lol I have it all broken down when we're paying for things)... and as we're not paying for a big venue/buffet it isn't as crucial that we actually save things up. The biggest out going is going to be my dress lol. Ooops! Am hoping to be able to put down a deposit and then pay it off at a later date (I'll probably transfer this money into my own account rather than our joint account).

Me too Natalie. I havent got much left I can do in advance. I do need to sort out DJ, cake and hair and make up but all of these I have ideas for I just need to wait till a bit closer to the time incase I change my mind.

I do need to get bridesmaids accesories and shoes but will get them as and when I see them.

I do need to ring the caterers and book them but that doesnt need to be done that soon.

Rings I know which one im getting, I just cant decide whether to get it now or wait and collect more tesco points. I ma order my ohs ring- just because its so cheap it can then be put away (as it will be once we are married!!)

I keep seeing holiday bits in the shops thinking oh I like that- whats the odds that this time next year I wont see anything I like!!!

Ha I would be buying holiday bits now if I was you lol - I don't think I'd be able to help myself!!
I am hoping in the Summer - lol after I've been wedding dress shopping - MrD and I can go and buy a pair of wetsuits for our diving trip. I also want my own mask. :) Actually the list is really long of things I'd like but if I only get those two pieces then I'll be happy... but they aren't anything I can really buy online - it's a case of trying them on to see which fits best.
Am looking forward to going and sneaking a peek at rings tomorrow!! :D

Talking about rings, we'd decided long before we got engaged what I wanted, H2B's not so worried as he wouldn't wear a ring with the type of job he does. Found a lovely ring on notonthehighstreet, it's in the form of the coastline and is in two parts. Will be going for it in white gold to go with the engagement ring (which will probably need resizing at somepoint over the winter).

Just got to decide which bit of coastline I want :)

Back at work today, not so snotty, just have one of those coughs which make me sound like I'm a 40 a day smoker (I'm not!)

quaveriw - those rings are gorgeous. I've never seen any like that before.

Thanks guys for gerbera hunting! I've discovered if I type daisy instead of gerbera then more things come up. Found some on ebay. No idea about colour yet - will depend on bridesmaid dresses. In my head though - lilac. I change my mind very often though!

MrsD - ring shopping tomorrow? Have a fab time.

Didn't realise you could book online for register office.........though I'm guessing living in the most stone age county in the world I doubt I'd be able to! I'm lucky they use the telephone!! xx

Michelle those rings are lovely!! And how great that you can have your own coast outline put on them - whether that is your local one or one that means something to you - brill!!

:) Well I popped into HSamuels just to try on really - not buying till later - much later - lol. But tried on a court and a heavy D and I definitely prefer the Heavy D sat next to my 'non-engagement' ring. So I know I want: 2mm 18Ct Heavy D ring in size K. :) Oh and I know he would say it to all the brides but the guy gushed over my 'non-engagement' ring and it made me feel like a princess. Sucker? Me? Nah!! Lol. Now I know what I want I will start the search and then go back to the jewellers I want to use and give them the choice to knock their price down. I really want to use them because they are a local family run jewellers and they made my 'non-engagement' ring :)

Rach - oh that was a good idea sticking in daisy instead of gerbera - lol never thought of that!!

Well... I have a small confession to make.... while I was in town I migrated towards Accessorize - as you do... and while I was in there I made a purchase - and I love them lol. I *think* I'll wear them for the wedding - so whilst I could have probably have saved money by waiting for the sale... they are very pretty and I just had to have them NOW. Lol. I bought these:
    88463312_m1.jpg
Now I got them because they are a really pale light silver - I suspect the ones I linked to above from coast would be too dark for me really... I do really love them *but* I'm not sure if they are too light compared to my shoes which are more silver silver (as opposed to dark silver which the other necklace/bracelets were or pale silver like these). I need to try them on, get a photo taken, and see if they look odd. Hopefully there is enough distance between them that noone will notice they aren't a perfect match.

I also got my hair re-reddified - loving it. I will take a photo after lunch (writing to you guys was more important). Will have a play around as well with my hair do for the wedding and take some more photos now I have vibrant red hair again.

    Right lunch time :)

    **Edit**
Oh I also bought a new mascara and lippy.... I'll put them on as well - I'm not counting these as wedding purchases though as I will wear them before the wedding!
