July 2012 Brides and Grooms

Another July 2012 bride!! Sooooo excited. We're on 28th July. Seems like a popular date. Only got engaged last Friday but went and looked at a couple of places today and fell in love with one of them. They had the 28th free so we're pencilled in!! Going for a meeting Friday evening where hopefully we'll book!

Then going wedding dress shopping with my mum and auntie on saturday. Want to lose weight before the wedding so just going for a fun girly day out really, and then going to book to look for a dress towards the end of August. That gives me a bit of time to start losing weight.

Decided I'm going to make the invitations myself. Hopefully that will keep the cost down a little. Hope my artistic skills are up to it though!! Soooooo much to do and very excited!! :j

There are a couple of us on this thread who want to lose weight so you'll be in good company!!

I loved making our invites - I'm glad though that I only had 22 to make lol... I think I'd have gone crazy if I'd had to do too many more lol. And as for tying bows - lol I did tell MrD I'm never tying another one.. ever lol.

Starting to think about themes. Thinking gerbera's. Anyone else looking at this? I think I'd want 3 colours - purple, white/cream and maybe lilac or pink?? A lot depends on bridesmaid dress colours now.

Have you got your bridesmaid dresses sorted yet? I know who I want but want to ask them all the same time. We are all going to see Take That in 2 weeks so planning to ask them then. Then it's shopping time!! :j

How much of a say did your bridesmaids have in the dresses? I kinda have in my head what I want but if the style/colour doesn't suit them then we will have to re-think! Want them to be happy!!!

Sooooo much to do - going out to get files etc today to start keeping everything together. :mad:

I'm having fake gerberas as my bouquet - Something like this (not sure yet whether to use white or ivory ones with the burgundy - will depend on what dress I end up with):

My colours are burgundy and white/ivory with black and silver accents.

I'm not having an bridesmaids so I can't really help with that BUT I do think bridesmaid's views should be listened to. You can then choose to ignore or accept their opinions but I think for your photos to look as good as they possibly could do it's important that everyone is happy with what they are wearing. You don't want fake smiles because your bridesmaids are uncomfortable in their dress. Lol that being said - I would probably insist that they all wear the same dress/style and the colour would be my choice lol. Not that I'm a bridezilla lol.

Welcome Rach I'm going to see Take That on FRIDAY :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j so excited!!!
I am having my sister as my bridesmaid and I'm just going to let her pick her own dress as long as it suits the rest of the colours. That said I'm only having one bm so it doesn't have to match anything.

I have seen pics of weddings where the bridesmaids have all worn different styles in the same colour though, it looks quite cool - but you'd have to have 3 more more because with two it woould just look mismatched haha!

Talking of bridesmaids, my oh's sister has been hinting to him about being one. I don't want two bridesmaids, didn't even want one but I had to! Why do people have to make things awkward? She's not being one. Sorry if that sounds !!!!!y but I'm not having it! LOL bridezilla moment:rotfl:

Mrs Drink - that bouquet looks lovely. It's that sort of style I'm looking at. Think the bridesmaids will have white/ivory as their main colour in bouquet with a splash of the main colour, and mine will be more about the colours.

I definately want my bridesmaids to be happy. I hope that the colour suits them, but as for style we'll see what happens!

Silaqui - I'm sooooooo excited about Take That aswell. Feel like a child again!!

Loving the fact that it is half term this week - plenty of planning time! Out for food with the parents tonight to discuss! My parents are divorced, though, and both remarried so trying to decide on top table! Think I want them all there. That would mean 10 on top table with best man and moh aswell.

Bet it's so annoying when people want to input big time on your wedding. Don't let your oh's sister bother you. I've got 2 step sisters and not planning on asking them to be bridesmaids but haven't discussed that with my dad and step mother yet. I think they'll be fine about it........finger's crossed! xx

Mel - oh god yes - stick to your ground! Let her be a bridesmaid for her friends!! I wouldn't ask MrD's sister to be a bridesmaid only on the grounds that they are siblings!! I'd have to be super close to her. But then it's much easier for me cause I'm not having any .

Hello and welcome rach27184. The 28th is a good choice in my opinion!!:D Im sure youll have a fab day dress shopping and it will give you an idea of the style you want. My colours are ivory and dark pink. my mil2b works in a place that does lovely artifical flowers so ive already picked mine out, im having dark pink gerberas and roses with pearls and sparkle and tied with ivory ribbon and my bridesmaids (2 of them) are having ivory gerberas and roses with pearl tied with pink ribbon, and my flower girl is having a wand with some pink roses and butterflies. With regards to the bridesmaids im quite lucky that they both would wear whatever i wanted so i found a dress i liked and they both approved so they are now hanging at my mil2b with my dress and the flowergirl dress!! I do think you need to listen to them and take into account what suits them but overall it should still be something you really lie aswell.

Talking of bouquets Im thinking of getting a little photo charm to go on mine with a picture of my gran and grandad who sadly arent here anymore so if anyone comes across any nice ones could you let me know.

Im a bit jealous that I have to wait until 9th July to see take that!! Im so excited though, its just like being 10 again!!

Ha see I was more of an E17 fan than a TT fan .

Will have a gander around Emma. I'm umming and ahhing over whetehr to get my granddad some 'grandad of the bride' cufflinks to walk me down the aisle but I'm not sure if he wears them or whether he just has a normal shirt. Will have to ask my mum closer to the day.

Tell your OH to hurry up and finish tidying up the BBQ!! We're all waiting on here for you to come back so we can jump up and down together!!
