advice please - who to go with?

hi guys im looking for a bit of advice with who to change my phone and broadband to.

we are currently with bt for evening and weekend class and pay them the line rental which is £16.26 a month (needed a new landline and they had an offer on)
and o2 for broadband which is £8 something now with the vate.

long story short my boyfriend is moving from o2 phone and this will go up £5 a month so would be a shocking aprox £30 for phone and broadband.

We were going to use o2's home and broadband and top up occasionally to still get the discount but ive now read that theyve changed the service so thats not the best idea.

We would like to go with someone with a decent reputation so talk talk is out (from own experience) anyone suggest something? i have read the article on it but im unsure of going with people ive never heard of.

Thanks

Line rental is £13.60 / month with direct debit, or £10 / month equivalent with line rental saver, don't know where you get over £16 from.

Plusnet might be worth a look.

    PS
Unlimited evening and weekend calls are a no cost option when on a 12month rolling contract.

PPS Have you checked which LLU operators are available at your exchange? If not do a Samknows exchange search.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • im not sure how to work sam knows

£16 is what my bills says as i said we had to get a new phone line in when we moved in and so it costs us a bit extra for evening and weekend calls as we didnt pay £120 for the new line

what kind of reputation have plusnet got? i havent heard much about them

    thanks

You don't have to 'own' an O2 phone to get the mobile discount. Any O2 number will do , a relative, friend, anyone who is willing to let you register that no. to get the discount. Even if you buy the required PAYG top ups and don't use them, you will still be saving £60 by spending £40.
I would think twice before ditching 02 broadband-after a year you should be able to wring a few pounds discount out of them anyway-at least £2.50pm off.
As penrhyn states, you can't possibly be paying £16.26 for BT's standard line rental.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

lol do u want me to photocopy the bill? i checked it before i posted this as i said before its more because we got a new landline in and had to pay a little extra a month instead of paying their £120 charge or talk talks £60 there was no landline in my flat when we moved in

as for the rest of your advice thanks it might be worth a call when my boyfriend gets in. i thought they would have tried harder to keep him when he cancelled his mobile earlier and that broadband wouldnt try any harder. i would like to stay with them but its not woth paying the extra fiver

unfortunately my family has tesco orange and 3 but no o2 and no friends i could try

You may get this but you may also get moved onto the new limited tariffs by agreeing to this. It's not worth it for £2.50pm.

Those that took the free line installation offer were not eligible to have the free E&W calls too.

O2 BB apparently have more to offer in deals than O2 mobile. I was told that they would be able to still give me my discount if I agreed to a new 12 months contract.

Just watch that they don't move you to one of the new packages. Again I asked this and was told I could stay on my same standard ( legacy ) tariff.

Nevertheless the line rental is not £16.26-you are apparently paying off an install charge that is being added-once that is paid your monthly charge will drop.

She is paying normal line rental plus £2.99 for E&W calls. There is no extra charge for the free installation offer.

It will not drop at the end of the 19 months contract unless she then goes onto the E&W calls package on a rolling contract.
