Flapjacks

  • Hope you can help here, some time ago (Beginning of Jan I think) there was some recipes on here for savoury flapjacks. I know one was a lovely cheese one and another had peanut butter and there was one that could be used as a meat replacement one. Not sure if they were all from the same poster or not.

I printed out the recipes but cannot find them AAGGHH!! I really want to make some this afternoon to take as a snack whilst travelling. I've looked through the recipe index and put a search for cheese flapjacks but can't find anything. Can anyone help?

    I'd be ever so grateful.

    Thanks in advance.

    Easy veggie Oatie Bake

    5 oz oats
    4 oz grated hard cheese
2 oz melted marg + little extra for top
    1 chopped onion
    1 large chopped pepper
    1 large tin drained sweetcorn
    1 egg beaten

Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Press firmly into a greased/lined baking tin. Brush top with melted marg. Bake on Gas mark 6/350 F for 30 mins or until golden on top. Serves 6-8.

Can be eaten as a meat alternative as part of a roast dinner

Is the consistency of this (once cooked) suitable for finger foods do you think?

I'm trying to ascertain if it would be a good healthy snack for a toddler!

http://www.lylesgoldensyrup.com/LylesGoldenSyrup/Recipes/default.htm I use Lyles recipe, but usually add raisins.

Cheese *hmmm* never thought of that, might just try it. Veg bake also sounds nice.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Our favourite one is:

    3 oz crushed cornflakes
    2 oz SR flour
    2 oz oats
    3 oz sugar
    4 oz butter
    1 tbsp of syrup.

Melt butter and syrup. Mix all together and bake at 160C for 15 - 20 mins. Mark into bars whilst hot. Fits an 8" square tin

  • My only tip is not to use porridge oats. Or maybe it's the ones I use (tho they aren't the cheapest) but they made the flapjacks go a bit powdery or gritty or something. I think rolled oats are better personally.

But very easy to make. And a bit too easy to eat too :)
